  1. That's a tough bill to fill....to date, only Romney has taken Trump on in a very public way. I'm thinking that a female veep candidate (no, not Palin) may balance the ticket better and attract more voters vs. Clinton. The old strategy of picking for a big state win just doesn't seem to matter anymore (e.g. Rubio or Kasich). Texas will remain a red state, California blue no matter what. Christie might get him New Jersey.

    Let's see how Kasich does in Ohio and circle back for some electoral college math.

    C'mon, everybody knows why Christie has his nose so far up the Donald's arse. You think he's making himself look that stupid because he wants to be Trump's chauffeur?
  2. Justin Trudeau is the son of Pierre Trudeau so Justin is Trudeau Jnr - in the same way that George W. is Bush Jnr.

    That's it, that's all.

    ====

    As to Drumpf, I suggest that you go to the Dilbert website.

    Let me point out one very simple thing to you: George, and George, are two very similar, almost identical names wouldn't you agree? Justin and Pierre are not at all. We all see through the jr crap as just what it is, a feeble attempt to demean Justin. So maybe seek a better strategy.

  3. How about a heart with the word mom in it? Surely that's as valid as a proponent of eugenics or a 60's burnout folk singer, but no doubt there are plenty of good choices available, not that it matters to most, it's another empty gesture, it's what liberals seem to be best at. War memorials are symbols we don't need, but a picture of a woman most will likely never have heard of on money most of us don't use is somehow important, yawn. You only need to look at the kind of people here that this seems to impress to know how unimportant it truly is.

    "Burn out folk singer"? Apparently you are a little slow when it comes to Canadian culture.

  4. Depends on the language used. As I said, it is possible to disagree without fomenting hatred. i.e. saying you should not vote for X because their policies are bad is fine. Saying you should not vote for X because they are bad/evil person is fomenting hatred.

    The forum has rules about attacking the ideas not the person which is similar but it is more complicated than that because one can attack the ideas in ways that imply the people who believe in such ideas are bad/evil which would be fomenting hatred.

    If one misrepresents what someone has said in order to make the person sound bad/evil then you are definitely fomenting hatred.

    Your arguments get weaker by the post. No thinking person could fail to distinguish Trump's bombast as not fomenting hatred. I'd give up were I you.

  5. Good grief, Is this our choices for women? There has to someone other than a couple old hippies - isn't there?

    Maybe Kim Campbell. I know she was never elected as prime minister, but she was prime minister and that speaks to many other preceding accomplishments.

    Too bad Joni didn't run for PM. She'd have won in a landslide, we could slap her on bill, and we could celebrate by drinking a case of Canada.

  6. That is only because you approve of the hatred that Trudeau foments. If you set aside your personal biases there is not much difference.

    I don't think one would have to set aside any bias to be able to detect the difference between Trump screaming at his hired thugs to "get 'em out of here" or "I'd like to punch 'em in the face" and agreeing to foot anyone's legal bills who may get arrested for following his orders/suggestions, and Trudeau suggesting we should look to new technologies as fossil fuels sink into the horizon. I suspect most would find that self evident.

  7. Right, anyone up for a penis joke about out military deployment? How about a hockey joke concerning an invasion of another country? Claiming to admire a dictatorship for any reason? Calling another mp a piece of shit in the house? The list goes on of course, so there are many valid reasons, not the least of which is simply listening to him speak about anything. Now of course I can't speak for you, but to intelligent people, he is exactly as Argus described, if his vacuousness was at some point just a theory it's already been conformed by the proof that he himself has provided.

    Wait at least 5 years and you can possibly get back to the vacuous talking points Harper delivered ad nausea, and perhaps you will be happy. But don't hold your breath.

  8. Do you lock your door at night? Do you have a password for your phone?

    More fundamentally, how do you choose your friends, members of your "club"? Who has access to your Facebook page?

    ======

    Free trade?

    It is one thing to buy French cheese freely but it is another to have a French dairy farmer living in your home.

    Having trade agreements with someone doesn't give them access to you home. Where is all this stultifying paranoia coming from. Do you sleep on top of your bed at night, or hide under it?
