It would be nice to be a fly on the wall in the rooms of all the discussions taking place in Ottawa right now. It would be great to have direct access to the key parties in this attempted coup. Fact is, no one does, well... voters don't that is.
The 5th estate, the media, present their version of the news to us and we citizens must wade through it to try to extract reality and make sense of it all.
After Harper took office, for the first time, it immediately became clear that media access to MPs and the Caucus was going to be different. Personally, I can't blame Harper for doing so considering the frequent cases of foot-in-mouth disease afflicting MPs of any party. Remember also the uncompromising photos published of Clark, Stanfield, and Trudeau, Mrs. Trudeau that is. Anyway, the media do not like Harper cuz he has interfered with their little game of character assassination.
I have a real concern about the information we are getting and how it is being presented and which pundits the media are selecting for interviews. This government take over is in the best interests of media.
Be suspicious of them. Verify the facts. Verify them again. Only if multiple media outlets present the same fact can you trust it. Frankly, most reporting is long on insults directed towards Harper and short on content.
One final note: I watched Layton being interviewed after question period today. It didn't take long for him to plug his book. Now, is that the behaviour of a responsible politician, let alone the leader of a Federal party?
