  1. Of all the comments on the subject; yours raises all the main points to think about. I could not put it more correctly: The Canadian Government (our MPs) should serve us; Nuclear should not be privatized at the cost of our health, environment and security; Crown Asset should be managed adequately by responsible people (the only one that raised a flag on heavy water leaks was fired); Canada's resources should be benefiting its people; 100% Canada belongs to 100% Canadian!
  2. I am looking into low-income housing as I do not know anyone that could help me out of the Downtown area, for now this looks very bleak waiting list is 6 years. So I cannot even hope to move until I find something so things are tough but I will survive somehow. I am teaching myself (as Harper has cut the re-training program) to build website and hoping to make this computer pay me; I am at least trying and I will not give up until I die.
  3. My (part-time) roommate moved out... paying full rent and full bills on handicap status check. I guess I need to explain that too; roomy cannot afford to travel here anymore, and this being a bachelor apartment I cannot find a new roomy that will pay to live with an handicap person and 2 cats (full time) in such a small place. Computer is two years old, bought cash with saving and award from court money; it is also my only contact to outside world, should I go to live in a cave to satisfy you?
  4. I cannot afford it as I need to feed my cats and pay my rent with my money, beside eating at the Mission myself, and I barely make the bills doing that. Still looking for a cheaper rental, but everything is more expensive than my place in Vancouver. I have also applied for low-income housing but the waiting list is 6 years. Are you laughing yet? Because I am not, this has been that way for a month for me, I am already wondering how much I can save by not turning on the light until five in the afternoon; it is hard on my legs as I bump into everything and on my eyes as well, my cats are learning to get out of the way... Oh and my big outing is the library, free and at least I can read there...
  5. So was I so stupid in my prediction that Canada was going to get hit by the credit crunch a month or so after the election and am I still stupid to say that this is the Next Great Depression coming up in March or maybe before? I have listened, I have searched, I have warned all of you that Harper is our own little dictator; are you still denying there is a problem with our economy? I am already eating at the Union Gospel Mission and using the food bank; I know that I am on the chopping block. But do you still believe that oil will feed you until you die and then feed your kids, or are you seeing the price affect your income one way or the other? Oil/gas does not affect me as much, as I do not drive or own a car, and being a person living with handicap in BC it has no chance to feed me at all. Will your rent or house payment get any lower when your paycheck get cut? As mine did not, it is nice to be catered to by the likes of Harper when you are in his "revenue" column, but quite different to be in the "cost" column as he always find a way to cut those who are. What makes you so sure that the secret agenda is not to depopulate? The bears are coming into cities because food is scarce all over...
  6. Talking about government programs, Flaherty announced they're planning to cut another $15 Billions on those, no mention which ones in the next 3 years; what do you think will get on the chopping block first I say health care and food inspection; best way to depopulate as food is getting rare in the world... and so is pension funds... therefore eliminating the poor, the sick and the old in one large swoop. Here is what I have done I have emailed the parliament maybe you could also follow the lead if you at all care for this country: I want to denounce our PM for being a dictator and proving it; for being a traitor to my country and democracy if he does take the money assigned to the opposition party(s) as these are what 62% of Canada have voted for and he would be denying us all Canadian a fair representation by doing so. Can he really do that without asking the people first? Can he not take a percentage of his salary and give it back to Canada? Can he not remove a few like the last extra 6 ministers he created seat for? Those are all things he could do without hurting democracy and/or Canada while saving a lot of money and tightening his belt. When is the PM going to create green jobs as Canadian want? When is the PM going to create affordable housing program? When is the PM going to provide a stimulus package for Canadian? Why doesn't the PM get rid of the massage parlor employees and turn down the heat at the Parliament? Why doesn't he ask for a vote of all MPs to decrease salaries by ten percent? Is he just waiting for people to die? Is he planning on shipping the poor on an island for the Olympic if they survive (as this is still not guarantee)? Is PM 'Harper' depopulation not already on the way? How about creating a food-stamp program for the poor and low-wage worker? Please stop the Dictatorship from taking place. Sent to: [email protected].
  7. I have already emailed PM Harper with a question about two weeks ago, it was something like this: I believe you are a traitor to my country prove me wrong... I have included a link to a video called The Gospel of Green that can be found here: The Gospel of Green I have addressed it to him here: [email protected] ----------------- I have also email the parliament with this message word for word: I want to denounce our PM for being a dictator and proving it; for being a traitor to my country and democracy if he does take the money assigned to the opposition party(s) as these are what 62% of Canada have voted for and he would be denying us all Canadian a fair representation by doing so. Sent to: [email protected] When this was not yet officially announced some time around 6h am on November 26, 2008 but just mentioned on the news. Join me and email everybody to do the same to save our democracy and our country; add your own suggestion if you have some but get the GG to hear us all Canadian unless you want "Hitler" to dictate in this country too. You have the email address here.
  8. I was reading this and wondering since I will have to vote how do I pick a good School Board for the school of this new and coming generation, and was led back in time to my French Quebec little school; I remember it being managed by nuns and a few regular teachers. They had a way to sort the kids so that everyone got ahead of where they were when they started the school year. Here is how they did it, each school-grade would be divided by potential A group was the genius or quick-learner and achiever; these were thought at the pace they(the kids and teacher as a team) chose and even pushed if the teacher believed they could do better; this allowed some to skip a few grade because of previous knowledge, like if your dad thought you math and engineering as a toddler, or you were raised and thought in two official-languages as a baby. You could skip to the grade you would be learning something more, so the boy that knew Math of Sec.V only did the exam of the highest grade and never needed to attend that one since this was lower grade school; the 4th grader that could read and write english at a Sec.V level did not need to go to English class and maybe the final exams to be exempt with credit. B group included the lazy genius and lazy quick-learner, and the average learner; this group would be fairly advance and would move along an even but careful pace as to not pass on important stuff too quickly; the difference is only obvious in the pace of learning but the matter is so questioned on exams as to be an even better method. I have managed to get in both of these group and appreciated the second when I required it, parent thought this was punishment as it lower your grade, but in fact it allowed the slower learner to change class and follow the pace that suits him or her best with that group; C group was the slower to understand so each grade would advance at a much slower pace on the hard stuff and often work as a group(2-3) to move along once everybody in the group could explain to the next how he understood it. This helped the teacher pin-point what part of the explanation did not get through, allowing this to be corrected. I had a friend that was put in it for awhile so I had to fake a failed exam so I could follow her for about three months, stupid me... Let's say that each of the previous level offered a sort of pride in learning and a group to belong to and learn with; who would not want to climb to a better grade and be looked at as the smart-kid from his buddy from the group. That does also build confidence which most kids seem to lack these days. Now I believe that some school had a D group- which would have been like a remedial class for those who caused problems for the ones learning; this was forty years ago so they had no understanding that they were not all doing it on purpose and I admit dealing with this group probably was different, as I do not know how this was done. But the idea of grouping and varying the methods allowed most kid to advance much faster then most French school around the world, I was told; so I believe this should probably be tried if more kids have difficulty learning and concentrating because of the groups that are allowed to move up a grade just to increase the average pass grade; this does not help anyone. Just my two-cents, make of it what you will.
  9. And you rather have Harper get his North Americain Union then; abolish the borders so that Americans and Mexicans can all freely share on your tax-paid services, and take your jobs because they will work for less and many more hour for the same buck... I have no problem with people that work but I do have a problem when a paper-pusher takes months and years to sign the forms necessary to get on with anything, and I have been there more often than most, so I hope you hurry it up, when you do work. But I understand that those same paper-pusher cannot always do that because of the POWER that IS at the time, so the blame falls on your employers, and again on the PM finally, lucky you!
  10. I am not a Liberal, I proudly voted for a Change with the NDP; sorry to disappoint you, so give us a break on the Liberal bashing, you're batting at hot air; I am talking about news in 2007 as quoted, while Harper was in power, what does the Liberal scheme have to do with that, can you tell me smart ass?
  11. So I guess you too are disenchanted with the Conservative being in power; I will tell you though that I disagree with you on the fact that we do not need growth, and that we need con-serv-ator (how can a 'PM Harper' serve you in anyway? he will prioritize his pocket first. And how do they conserve your environment or your tax-dollars for that matter? It just leaves us to be conned by them... To the opposite this is the only way to become a productive country and to maintain a revenue through production of goods and services which is simple economic growth while we should reduce investment on the unsustainable use of our resources like oil to maintain a dollar of roughly .80 to .84 to attract investors and visitors to come and spend here. Once you increase the revenue of the country, you then have happier people earning money to really produce a quality of life; but if like Harper you slash and cut indiscriminately you are likely to hurt the economy one way or the other. Opposition parties accused Prime Minister Stephen Harper's government of a miserly and mean-spirited attitude toward Canada's most vulnerable after the Conservatives chopped $2-billion in spending despite running a $13.2-billion budget surplus. "The Prime Minister's thinking has evolved over the years, from Attila the Hun to something approaching Genghis Khan," Liberal finance critic John McCallum said yesterday during a raucous Question Period session where opposition MPs cast themselves as defenders of the cut's casualties. ""Why on earth is the Prime Minister eliminating research on the health of visible minorities, on child abuse, trafficking in women, support for voluntary groups, for soup kitchens and training for Canadians with disabilities?" interim Liberal leader Bill Graham asked. This prompted Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty to demand more money to fix what he calls a fiscal imbalance between Ottawa and the provinces. "They've got more money than they've got responsibilities, whereas we've got more responsibilities than we have money," he said. While the Tories chopped about $35-million in skills- and training-related funding this week -- plus $55-million for youth employment -- their May 2 budget boosted spending on education and skills by more than $450-million annually, not including a $1-billion trust fund for postsecondary infrastructure spending." as stated in the article: Opposition blasts Tories over spending cuts- by Steven Chase. The Globe and Mail. Toronto, Ont.: Sep 27, 2006. pg. A.4 Proof, he cut Arts and Culture funding of $47 Millions - which on the long term would have brought in something like $85 Billions; this is also affecting jobs in the tourism and service industry because they are the affected by the main events. Proof he also cut funding toward various industry through another few cuts: *Business Retention and Expansion Program * Home repair and renovation program which might have help create both jobs and keep some here. Proof, he cut funding by deciding it would be great to save on 200 food inspectors salary if the industry was going to take that of his hands; it cost Canada 20 people, beside all the money it will cost if they ever are named in the Class-action suit as they should, when they get awarded amounts by the courts in those cases, but this is your people's lives that could have been saved if he had paid attention to people instead of money. But as an economist you and I are either just a "revenue" or a "cost" item so lets cut... And make sure to cater to those that have the biggest revenue with what we can save on the "cost", that is a large majority of the population (including mid-wage and low-wage earners who pay the most tax, and still get to keep less), because even if they are earning now, chances are they will end-up unemployed after awhile or on Seniors pension so they still count as a cost, long-term. Economist are not supposed to understand economy, they are just its students , no knowledge needed just a balancing act!
  12. What do they need money for, don't they have advertisers paying them bundles?
  13. Hey blueblood, I am Canadian born and raised since Champlain brought the first group of teachers in Canada; so if you can afford the fligth please move to Africa as you must feel right at home there as they take precious care to bash their poor there too.
  14. Ok I am one of those poor that has grabbed an old TV out of the laundry room in my building because someone had left it there and I was lucky enough for it to work; I have found a DVD player in the same manner; and I have bought a computer with my tax return and all my saving for the last two years previous to that, I have had a cell phone (for 8 years old) with Fido, which allowed me to get a new one for free through my Fido-dollars. I do not go out or drink, so I do pay for a combo-pack of cable-internet to keep in touch with this world, at which I have not been invited to participate in anyway except when charities are calling, asking me to donate my measly $2.75 a day to feed another... Maybe a crash is what we really need; put everybody back on the same level, with the same priorities like feeding, sleeping, getting warm and simply survive... I don't care anymore, I have been there for ten years, so any change is welcome in my book, it cannot get worse. As long as there is food people will survive, money can all burn it has in fact not even the value of the ink used to print it, so cry me a river.
  15. Give him a medal for his involving us in 911 after you see this documentary, would you? http://blip.tv/file/306082/ Of course, I am being sarcastic, for those who did not get it.
  16. And you're very sure that the employers that do not want Unions are doing so in your best interest, you must be very young or very gullible, they are in it to save a buck not your quality of life...
  17. I am happy to correct you here I do not officially belong to any party; I have always voted and got the Opposition in - except this last time where I totally lost my election as I proudly voted for Change with the NDP that do stand for and beside my fellow Canadians at all time not just in a down-time. So your Liberal Bashing is just that, bashing, pretty low for a big man! And no my quality of life cannot be touched as I already am on a very tight budget eating for about $2.50 a day in BC, Canada no less... Want to trade?
  18. Do you think he should keep feeding the economy until everybody is broke or is there a pause in the future? In six-month we will all be where I have been for the last 10 years, poor and saving every pennies to make the bills and eat each month without a raise during that time while my rent has increased by $45. in just three year beside Cable-Low-Speed internet (for cost) and hydro also going up during these years; the Provincial allowed $50. toward housing for an increase about 5 months after the last increase had taken place. So yeah, I am poor and I struggle as a person living with arthritis (continually in pain) causing my insomnia (sleep about three hours average a day because of pain); my scoliosis is just getting worse as I have a double curve there, so I am not yet over with it, not until I die and I am not ready to put my arms down yet and do that. Not even to please you... But I will change this world for a better one if only by waking one of you about reality; the truth has been hidden for too long, but I can tell you History always repeat itself, after all it was a good script the first time around, why shouldn't there be a sequel... Here is a few starter on the truth: http://wikipedia.org http://google.com http://search.yahoo.com http://answer.com http://youtube.com And do a search for whomever or whatever event in history you can think of and see if I am not a fore-teller of what things that have come to pass in fact, just as fashion seems to do. Search for answer about the environment; you might find that mother Earth is in fact not as healthy as you would like to believe; the polar cap is melting faster than expected by the scientists and Wild Life is announcing decline in Protected Animals, dying of starvation. How long do you think you young ones have if you do not Wake Up! Do Not take my word but find out, search for the North American Union; the truth about 911; the Bilberger Group; your PM Harper; and anything that comes to mind; then do your own thinking... and come to tell me what you found; not a lonely denial because you do not accept a statement; come equipped with arguments. Search for Zeitgeist- The movie on You tube or visit my site to view them in five part as the documentary is a bit long. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer...;oq=Zeitgeist-+
  19. Why because he works at getting people unionized? What an excuse? So if you work at bettering your fellow man work day you are bunk, you make total sense as an idiot, but totally no sense or cents in your argument. By the way how is your portfolio this morning, is Harper salvaging it by doing what Hoover tried to do in his day... You know when you are poor this is as funny as can be; poor are somehow getting richer with less effort; we do not need to put you out, you are doing it all on your own. If your revenue is lowered that means I am closer to what you are able to spend so the prices have to go down to support both of our economic situation... See you in the food line in six months.
  20. FDR rescued the United States from the Depression with his New Deal; after conservative management of Harding and at his death Coolidge who was later blame for his laisser-faire government and a year before the crash on the Market Hoover came in as President. FDR only got elected in 1933, and was also elected 4 times to Presidency, the only president that ever was or will ever be there for more then two terms, as he made this a law. So go back to studying your Canadian and American History as you are totally confused!
  21. I think you should inquire about what Harper is doing here: "I thought you'd be interested in finding out about the Green Party and where they stand on the SPP. The Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) of North America, initiated on March 31, 2005 by the leaders of Canada, the United States and Mexico to advance free trade and security cooperation should NOT go forward. The Green Party of Canada is demanding fair trade not free trade and a continued separation between our countries ON issues such as: • Homeland security; • The military ; • Energy and natural resources; • Global security and foreign policy; • Economic policy; and • Regulatory policy – environment, health, food safety for expediting cross-border trade. Find out more about the SPP here: http://www.greenparty.ca/spp. Check out their web site at http://www.greenparty.ca." I think he is selling all of us out... our water, our oil, any and all resources... Shame on us if we let him do it!
  22. By all mean if you know how to fix it, don't let us hold you back Alta4ever!
  23. I was just reading comments on CBC and found this and it sounds from someone who has lived in the era: "In the weeks and months after the Crash that started the Great Depression the market rebounded and collapsed in cycles just like we're experiencing now. It was the bastards squeezing us and the market for every last penny they could before throwing in the towel and letting the house of card utterly collapse. Meanwhile, our governments collude with the banks to turn their private debts and losses into our public responsibility. Treasonous actions abound... see you on the bread-lines Comrades!" says Devin306 posted 2008/10/23 at 6:42 PM commenting about this article: TSX dives below 9,000, then winds up with a gain
  24. He comes to the same conclusion I do by saying this: “We’ve had three strikes against our national productivity, and they’re all related to the Harper government’s acceptance of Canada’s new status as an energy ‘superpower.’ By endorsing the high dollar and abandoning Canadian manufacturing, this government has done more damage to our national productivity than any other government in our postwar history,” Stanford concludes. That is poor economics!
  25. If this was a joke, please keep your day-job, as comedy is hardly your line, even sarcasm escape you.
