  1. Another story that is hard to belive: Adam and Eve.

Its simple, God puts them in a beutiful garden and tells them one thing, don't eat the apples. Suprise, they eat an apple.

Its not like the two really had a choice because if God really had the mentality to do that, he would have kept trying to get them to eat the apples so sooner or later they would have.

Got that from a very good book "Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy"

For those of you who know the book, I realize it is very, um, incorrect from front to back, but some arguments can be stated in a good light.

  2. It claims to be a development of the same religion, worshipping the same God, and yet it does not have a consistent theological theme. That's the lie.

Does not Christianity have several different offbranches that have different theories and yet all worship god and Jesus? Whats wrong if Islam worships god and yet doesnot belive in Jesus or some other Christian belife?

  3. However, right now this religion is the base for today's violence.  To me and my family, a Spanish Inquisition that occured centuries ago is far less dangerous than Wahabbiism is today.  You can point here and there but the past, while instructive, is the past and is not here right now trying to kill us.

Unfortunatly you can't say that the Christian branch has stopped blood shed a long time ago, just look at the IRA.

It is true that the most recent attacks in the name of religion have come from Islamic sources, but that is only temporary as everything is.

[/quote=Hugo Oct. 28, 5:06 PM}What we have to look at is the foundations of the religion. The fact is that Islam is founded on lies. Although Mohammed claimed to be the latest and greatest of prophets of the same God, including in that list Moses, Jesus and all in between, much of what Islam professes is not in tune with Judeo-Christian theology.

Islam is not founded on lies but on its own belife's. Just because Islam doesn't completely confer with Christianity or Judaism, doesn't mean its lying, just that it has different views of religion that are not shared by the other two. It doesn't make any sense to say that they are lying because Christianity and Judaism do not agree on all aspects and have killed each other over this for thousands of years. A Jew could say that a Christian's religion is lies and vice versa.

To truthfully think about it from an unbiased perspective, you must acept all religions as some sort of understandible truth.

  4. It matters not who the buyer is, what color they are or what religion. The only thing that matters is if they are paying the going price. Oil is sold on the world market on an exchange similar to the stock market. If the US pays the going rate then they will have oil. If they do not then they will not. It's really quite simple.

Remember the Oil embargo of the 70's? OPEC raised prices dramaticaly as the US dollar fell. The economy simply plumited, and oil prices soared. What with OPEC still in power, the major oil producers could cut the US off and still be rolling in the dough.

Bush will not allow himself to lose power in Iraq. If nothing else he will try to put someone into power (like the US did originally with some other dictators).

  5. Will the US really leave? There's to much at stake fro them. If they abandon Iraq they lose face to the internatonal communitity and the UN. There is also to much oil in Iraq for the US to not have a major power hold of the politics there. HTey need to make sure that when the country settles out and oil production is back at its peak, that they have someone who is certain to sell to them.

  6. I am in total agreement with SirRiff. It is the decision of the mother and not us. If the mother really wants to destroy her own child, it probably means she can't support it anyway.

When killing the fetus, its just like killing a fly, with the difference that one might become sentinent and in the distant future actually relize what life and death are. But hey, its not for me to say.

  7. The U.S. is being the cop that the world needs, but the world doesn't need the U.S. to patroll there backs. What needs to be done is the U.N. needs a heck of a lot more power, which will of course never happen. The U.S. also needs to stop beliving that they're all sent by god to protect the world and that they don't need the help of foreign nations.

  8. Your perfectly right about the democracy. Kill enough people, spend enough money, beat people into submission, and pretty soon you'll be able to force a democracy. Now the people may not be happy, but look at the U.S., are there people exactly "happy".

All I'm saying is the chances are very slim that a government "for the people and by the people" will fly real well in Iraq, right now they seem to be enjoying an Anarchy.

  9. Iraq will never become a democracy, thats one thing the U.S. should have thought about. I'm not supporting their old regime but at least they had order and law under Suddam. It will take a very long time for the middle eastern countries to convert to democracy.

What the Iraq's have needed is one main figure head to lead the majority of them, otherwise there's complete chaos. A leader needs absolute control that a republic or democracy can not give him. The Iraq's will also never support anyone the U.S. puts into power so the good ol' U.S. of A needs to "oppose" a political grower, or take other drastic measures.
