  1. Newspapers should become more net oriented. Many news sites are cluttered, hard to navigate and hard to read. Stories in convetional newspapers however generaly follow a logical flow, are eaiser to read and work with. Considering the high rate of growth on the web it would be assumed that all newspapers could die out and only thouse with online will survive. Einar the Dagger
  2. After five years as Afghanistan's leader, President Hamid Karzai still has only marginal control over large swaths of his country, which is rife with warlords, militants, and drug smugglers. The Taliban now funds its insurgency through the drug trade, and in 2006 Afghanistan's opium harvest reached record levels, increasing by 50% and representing 92% of the world's opium supply. Taliban info Why we fight. The country is in the final phases of clearing Talliban millitants back to the Packistan/Afghanistan Border. As we continue to fund and train an Afghanistan army hopefuly Taliban funding can be cut as Afghan police/army as well as NATO forces deal with the economic and drug problems present. 3. The true purpose of this issue is not to examine the differences between CBC and CTV and the way they discribe the news. The question is, what advantage is the CBC gaining in choosing to pilot an ethnic and possibly highly rasist show. The obvious answer is that the CBC is attempting to expand its viewing market beyond primarily news viewing. It has piloted many shows and repeatedly altered its program order in an attempt to gain a lasting viewer market. Now the CBC is attempting to gain an entrance into the ethnic viewing community by piloting a show which appears to be attractive towards muslim people (making them seem superior, dealing with muslim issues ect.) Once the show airs the CBC will be able to determine if it met these objectives successfuly. Einar the Dagger
  4. The Iraq war is difficult to fight because unlike the war in past human history there is no enemy army and no obvious enemy. Terrorists attack from behind the saftey of civilians then retreat back into hiding as forces try to eliminate them. Sucide bomber, roadside bombs, and driveby shootings makes the Iraq war difficult to win. How do you fight an enemy that hides in the countries population? Einar the Dagger
  5. Canadian forces continue Operation Archer in southern Afghanistan with the goal to clear the region of the remaining Taliban forces. This is the latest and most agressive Operation for the Canadian Forces since Canada joined the NATO collition. As NATO forces continue to operate in Afghanistan change is occuring. Talliban remnants are still at large but are no longer as powerful as they once were in the country. Continued involvment in this country will only make it better. Security in Afghanistan is improving as our forces operate and it is in the forcible future that an independant and self managing nation can be created. Einar the Dagger
  6. Canada's mission in Afghanistan is listed on the Canadian forces website: to prevent Afghanistan from relapsing into a failed state that provides a safe haven for terrorists and terrorist organizations. Canada remains committed to the campaign against terrorism and, with our allies, will make a major contribution to the stabilization and reconstruction of Afghanistan. Canada aims to help Afghanistan become the following: * A stable nation that is no longer a haven for terrorism; * A country that meets the needs of its people; and * A fully integrated part of the international community. This quote clearly states the canadian view on the war in Afghanistan. It also explains why Canadian/NATO forces can not withdraw from Afghanistan. Should they choose to pursue a course of action involved in pulling out of Afghaistan, the mission will be a failure for terrorist groups will be able to flurish agian and send the country spirling back into the chaotic state it was in before the U.S. Invasion. There is a reason our forces are in Afghanistan. To provide aid, rebuild the government and destroy the Taliban. Einar the Dagger
  7. The Aboriginal people of Canada are a known visible minority in Canada as reconized by the Government of Canada. However even as a minority that doesn't give them the right to have different or special privilages granted to them by the government. Why then is it that after almost one hundred years that Canada was a nation that agreements with the aboriginals have not changed or been re-evaluated. Tax breaks and benifits provided to the Native people is obvious racism. Canada has become a Majoity country run by the minority. Anything that could "upset" the native people is called rasist. The native people are just human and if they choose not to integrate in canada but remain independant (own schools ect.) then this should be not paid for by the government but by themselves. 9. "NATO is a key component of the international community’s engagement in Afghanistan, assisting the Afghan authorities in providing security and stability, paving the way for reconstruction and effective governance." This is the description on the offical NATO site for the mission in Afghanistan. This states that the NATO forces are present to provide security and stability so the country can reconstruct and prosper. Taliban forces need to be removed for security. The government needs to be assisted for stabiliy, and forces assisting the country's people with food and saftey leads to reconstruction. This is the NATO mission and Canadian forces are present in Afganistan as peacekeepers to acheive this mission. Einar the Dagger
  10. This is how the Canadian Government chooses to support minorities over the majority. Its the same deal with all the minorities in Canada, including quebec. We are supposedly a multi-cultural, non racist, equal oppertunity country yet immigrints get tax breaks, and help finding education and jobs. "Little Mosque on the Prarie" is just another example of blatent rasism in an attempt to remove rasicim from our country. This would never be something shown on a private station or even legal several years ago.
