I’m Russian immigrant, lived for more than 10 years in Canada. But all that happens with my compatriots abroad worries me greatly. In this particular case I mean recent brutal killing of four Russian diplomats who were taken hostage in Baghdad 5 weeks ago. Of course, everyone calls it an inhuman act. But I wonder why representatives of my native country, that has always been against any military actions in Iraq and even called on foreign military forces to withdraw as soon as possible, were killed there. One might have thought they had been mistaken for Americans. According to CNN reports an extremist group linked with al-Qaida had executed the four employees of the Russian Embassy in revenge for “killing Muslim brothers and sisters by the infidel Russian government in Chechnya”.
Certainly it is an official version. But I think it’s quite possible that Israel pulled strings by those extremists. It is very likely that Israeli special services stand behind this thoroughly planned and organized attack targeting Russians who had got to close quarters with Palestinians lately. This very development has caused vicious anger by Israel looking for revenge. BTW the whole thing didn’t look like usual terrorist pattern at all, because Russians were kidnapped and killed quite simultaneously, without any usual for terrorists negotiations.
