Because that's not what hate speech is. If John says homosexuals in general are disgusting and Bob hears about this and gets so offended by that he decides to jump off a bridge, how did John say anything that convinced them to kill themselves? And convincing someone to kill another person is abetting them in committing a crime. In order for you to convince someone to kill themselves, you'd have to be speaking to them on a personal level. For example, John would say that Bob specifically lives a disgusting lifestyle and should go kill himself.

I'm not asking if it's logical or not, just whether or not it should legal. Using your logic, we should make it illegal to say 1+1=3

That being said, I am against hate publicized speech against specific individuals that have nothing to do with the public.

Well, actually apparently not, because the courts ruled that any speech is deemed "too hateful" can be censored even though that kind of judgment clearly goes against the Constitution. I'm just asking about what people think about it.

You should understand there's a difference between state sponsored racism and racism by regular civilians. I'm not either is great, but I do believe free speech should exist absolutely. Just because people think that certain speech is despicable or hurtful doesn't mean it ought to be criminalized. We don't have free speech laws to protect our right to discuss the weather, it's for saying controversial issues.

Okay, to clarify more, I don't mean businesses should or should not be allowed to say no blacks allowed, I'm asking if the KKK should be allowed to march on the streets or some blogger should be allowed to make blog posts about how Jews are inferior or something.

You're mentioning pretty small chunks of government spending. There's plenty of money wasted by the government on services that the private economy could easily and should be doing. And also, there's a misconception that Canada's economy is good because we're a "socialist" state that has high taxes and high regulation. The people who usually say this say we're doing better than the US because we have more regulation and higher taxes. False and false. Canada's tax plans will become the lowest in the G20, within a few years. And we're also one of the highest (I think 5th) of the countries with the most economic freedom. (The US is like 15th or something)

Really. How much of the millions of dollars we send to Africa do you think have created social order there?

Oh and to address the origin issue, that tax cuts don't grow the economy: it's completely wrong what you say about tax cuts. When you raise taxes, collect taxes, you're taking money out of the private economy and putting into the public sector, which only holds back the private economy. You can source your GDP statistics, but I've already talked about how GDP doesn't give accurate measurements about the economy.

Well first, local services and welfare aren't the only things that tax money goes towards. Foreign aid, military spending, corporate bailouts, subsidies, etc., are also used for it. I'm not saying I disagree with those, though I do with most mentioned above, but I'm just saying there's more than just that done with tax dollars. And to address the welfare state, I believe that we should have a society where charity is not enforced by the government but taken up by private citizens and private charities and churches. I'm a not a conservative so I don't really care who started welfare.

I've asked people about this and it's surprised how many told me no. To be clear, I'm not asking if a person have racist thoughts, I'm asking if a person has the right to express this thought. To give an example, do you think the KKK should have the right to march down the streets to make their point? And not just racism either, do you believe people should have the right express hateful/racist/etc. speech in the public? Yes, no, why? BTW I'm not a racist, my parents are from Taiwan so it's not like I'm not an easy target for racism.

To bring my point of view into this: I don't really care about whether or not tax cuts bring economic growth. I believe in it because I believe in the principle that people ought to keep the fruits of their work. And if you're talking about growing the economy, it's deregulation that really works it. By the way, GDP isn't a real measurement of economic growth, as it sees public spending as economic growth. When the private economy creates something, say a chair, it's value depends on how much people are willing to pay for it. So if IKEA makes a $5 chair, GDP grows by $5. But when the federal government decides to spend $10 a year for a bureaucrat's salary whose job it is to bring regulation that holds the economy back, GDP still grows by $10.
