  1. Without trying to offend anyone, what are the plans for Canadas new air fleet? To be a half ass loser democracy picking cherry fights after Americans whipe out any air to air or serious ground to air resistance? What will we be but little men looking for a fight we can win with our tough new toys. Why? What will we use our new planes for? I hope they serve us well and don't become penis extenions for our egos. Would our money and energy be better spent elswhere? There are many canadian missions now that could use money and energy more than we need a fleet of F-35. We ignore genocide but need new planes?

Why? Why? Why? We're not protecting the north with F-35s, That's ridiculaus. Even if you are hell bent on these planes, stop and pretend for just a moment that this money went elswhere. It is a s-------d of money! We could rebuild Haiti! Hell we could fix our colonial reservation system and we could use our proud Canadian military. The good guys.

  2. I don't mind paying off the fn's for land access, the oil companies pay everyone else, but they have to be realistic and take some money or no money. I posted an example of a successful fn in Saskatchewan in another thread hat works with private partners and enjoys an unemployment rate of 4%

And then we have the op who thinks that the oil sands pipeline shouldn't be developed in the first place, I mean really?

Really there are others who do have differnt opinions. I understand the need of the parties involved in the tarsands to get there product to market, but the issue that many have is wether it should be happening at all. Like it or not tarsands have a horrible reputation and are more destructive than traditional oil drills. The point for many is that rapid change is needed for climate change to slow, many feel it is to late. Others the shear environmental destructive scope of the project is to devastating to back. A pipeline to China is helping there authoratarian regime energy security. Last time I checked not the nicest group of politicos. Then there is the Americans  They might not even pay us for the oil. All communities will have a say but not all will be heard. The reality of a coastal oil spill grows and the coastal communities wait for another exxon valdiz. Many problems ahead, I'm surfing again tomorrow so that's my two cents.

  3. I was interested in popping up a turbine or two and wanted to see how that would pencil out. I attended a presentation at the u of s about it and that was the end of that idea. So much red tape, the roi was pitiful, I was better off to do nothing.

Sooo, what kind of mill? How big? Use single home? Energy for sale??? Will the province arrest you if you make your own? I'd rather not have bills when I'm sixty five. Don't you live on the prarie? Hell fire up the solar panels and wind mills. Look up Altamont Pass in California, the cows graze under the mills. Health warning, used to love corn fed beef, but cows will drown in there own mucus on a corn diet without antibiotics. Sucks I know, but the bright side is all they really need is grass and some oats for the winter! Prarie beef! Not feedl lot! :D

  4. If you like wasting wood when oil and gas is more efficient, then have at it. Do you know how that wood is cut, with oil and gas, and lots of it. Unless you have a team of Clydesdales and a giant bowsaw, that wood is cut with our best friend oil from Alberta.

You have fun splitting wood, I'll have fun with my geothermal that comes with free air conditioning.

No, at would be govern, net caving in to hippies is why wind power is popping up. If it was profitable, suncor have wind farms all over the place instead of throwing money at the oil sands.

Is 11 dollars more expensive than 3.58? That's what nat gas futures are, sounds cheap to me, especially with oil at 100 dollars.

I am quite certain you spend thousands less on oil and gas than I do, but my return on that will most likely destroy yours.

Oh and corn fed beef does taste the best, ask any patron at the keg, Moxies or earls.

I might be a dumb ass prairie boy, but I prefer to be a loaded dumb ass prairie boy.

Have fun being a hermit in the bush!

Atta boy! Geothermal :) Who is throwing money? Peter Makay  ? I love my husky saw! Got a freezer full of Mulie!Worked for the chains years ago, can't stand the food. Your palat will mature if you let it young man. Double check the suncor stuff, I have a feeling there fingers stretch into other energy. Gas will go up and down but mainly up and I don't need it... so you have atter. You're not dumb havn't you seen my spelling! I would by an electric truck if they'ed make it, good god you think I like buying gas! The price here is nuts!!!

  5. Are you serious? I was happy with the Canada we had before him. this is no longer Canada, its Harperland

what is to like about him? for crying out loud his photo ops are of him cuddling his kitten with a fake smile in front of a fireplace

    that is just creepy

why do I not like Harper? He is an evangelical ideologue ...you could support something with all kinds of evidence and he's like ...no, we're doing it my way, his government is one of the most corrupt in the past 50 years... I'm sure he'd let Tony Clement and John Baird get away with murder if it meant he'd keep his government

    Need I go on more?

Harper is a poor democrat and that is why he isn't one. He attracts the lesser ideals of our people, sad but true, he is very good manipulator and propogandist. His poor soul is so twisted and tormented by who knows what and the lack of compramise he offers is offensive. Why the Cons have glommed onto the F-35 to patrol the far north is anyones guess, mabey they feel the Russians are going to wage an air to air combat war with us. I wonder what there plan B is? None?

  6. Peter Mackay didn't steal anything. He has the authority to approve all use of DND aircraft.

If I was his senionr I wouldn't hesitate canning his ass, But this isn't the real world, it's politics. Peter's misadventures were all party related photo oppurtunity for himself, it just backfired because someone actually held him acountible for his spending... or no they didn't and that is a real shame on our government. Demand better, no excuses or we mise well just stand and say "hail to the thief" when whatever government walks in.

  7. Oh, I'll admit that McKay seems to have blown this one! I just take exception to making it the crime of the century!

I mean, the bar for political integrity is pretty low after all those Liberal years. McKay is just operating in the Ottawa status quo!

Everybody's judgement is off once in a while. Chretien was off by a LOT many times during his terms and I don't recall the same degree of outrage!

The reason I keep bringing up "old stuff" that seems to so infuriate Olp1fan is not that I'm trying to excuse a present sin. I've already said that as sins go this one is pretty lame-ass!

No, I do it to illustrate that Olp1fan's outrage is so partisan and selective, along with so many of his fellows.

The picture is simple to understand.A liberal sins and it is forgiven or even ignored, no matter how egregious. A Tory makes no matter how trivial a sin and always someone like Olp1fan immediately stands up and screams that it is a crime against Man, dogs and God!

And then when I point out his silence on the liberal faux pas he replies "Old stuff don't count! Fugeddabout it!"

THAT'S what I'm pointing out! The hypocrisy! The partisanship!

Partisan thinking is for trolls and idiots! It's a waste of everyone's time on a forum like this! Has anyone ever seen me post that anyone in the NDP is a commie pinko? Never have and never would! But almost every day we see slams against any and all conservatives, as if they were the proverbial reptilian kitten eaters!

And I get called a Conservative as if it's some kind of synonym for evil, when I'm a classic Liberal!

    The ignorance is overwhelming!

First Makay's head on a platter, Steven really won't mind and I liked it better when you were conservative.

  8. Oh god.. 3 more years of lefties reassuring each other that every minor scandal they can conjure up into the next national crisis will be the death knell of the conservatives. I don't know if I can take it.

Can't you guys wait until your parties find leaders before talking about winning the next election?

I know it sure sucks to be involved with such liars. Minor scandal, lefties... excuse me but if this was the NDP I would be disgusted as you would be too you hypocrite. Use your head not your mouth. Expect better from all sides and stop making excuses everytime one of your Cons is caught. Gross.

  9. If wind energy was extremely profitable, there would be windmills all over western Canada, every big energy company would be pouring money into popping up wind farms offshore. Why would energy companies be spending a fortune developing the oilsands when they could pop up a windmill? Maybe because the returns suck on wind power?

Do you know the amount of nat gas reserves there are? It is an obscene amount and it's dirt cheap. The oil sands won't even come close to making a dent in it.

Firewood doesn't have near the energy efficiency as fossil fuels, not even close.

Well it looks like Canada should specialize in energy production instead of manufacturing.

Alberta is awash in oil. Why would they need wind energy? I don't know mabey ask anyone directly affected by the costs of global warmimg. Are you suggesting I burn oil and gas instead of wood? Are you really that stupid!!! Ya I'm going to burn oil and gas to heat my house! Not a chance. Wind power is popping up all over Canada large and small. The costs of energy is driving this...you are driving the green change. The demand and price of expensive oil and gas. By the way natuaral gas is not cheap and any moron that proclaims it is I would hate to see your financials. I bet I spend thousands of dollars less on gas and oil than you. Guess who saves more off every dollar earned, you or me? I don't need Alberta oil and neither does the future. The sooner this happens the better, just stay out of B.C. we don't need any dumb ass Albertans out here. Or your crappy feed lot corn fed beef. Go drink your yummy water.

  10. What green energy, the kind that doesn't give a positive return on investment, the kind that doesn't come close to as efficient as hydrocarbon combustion? In case you haven't noticed natural gas is as cheap as borscht right now because of shale gas. We won't be needing solar and wind for quite some time. Let it die.

Not only that, the Chinese pay us an arm and a leg for said energy. We're not giving it away.

Are you trying to be funny or stupid? Wind energy is encredibly profitable. Fact...Altamont pass and it has been pumping out the wind juice for over thirty years. A positive return on power as in money? Gas is a waisted energy, once used, done, fact. Wow natural gas is cheap right now. No not really. If you were planning on retiring now and your house was heated with natural gas you are facing some very steep costs now and in the near future. Over the next fifty years the tarsands will turn on to full capacity using up gas reserves like never before. Want to know what's cheap? Firewood. The chinese don't have access to the oil yet...personally the oil in Alberta will make Canada money but make it more difficult for our manufactering exports with our higher dollar. Fact.

Gee I thought hydro electricty was profitable. Silly me. When we use natural gas to make oil we are really wasting energy. You only get one crack at it and it seems very wastful. This may be a difficult concept for you. Remove your head from your posterior please.

    ? Are you drunk?

  13. and steadily shrinking. The GTA/Southern Ontario is looking increasingly crowded, expensive and workshy.

Do your homework and report back.

No need for you to grovel, just go to your provincial leaders and tell them plainly: Albertas oild and Alberta money is tainted, corrupt dirty and we refuse to take any more of it. Period.

Otherwise, STFU and enjoy the handout while recognizing how and where it ended up funding your life.

Angry man, what hand out? What is the cost of the Tar Sands to Canada. Not just the dollar barrel but what about the great waist of energy in it's production? I live in B.C. Our natural gas helps makes the tar sands function. Soon a pipeline will fill tankers to China exporting our vast energy reserves which used up our other energy reserves to make. Stop, think, don't swear, just breath and ponder how we can do this better. Good, now sit down with the rest of your Canadian family. All anyone on this is saying is we want to do it better, cleaner more efficiant and hopefully one day, not need it anymore. The handout by the way was provided by the Canadian taxpayers, years and years of subsidizing the tar sands, it's our energy and it will belong to China. No handout needed here broskie but the federal government should be investing this tax revenue into green energy and not on the tarsands. Profitable no need. Smart step into a future when oil will be gone and energy is power.

  14. Unfortunately for them, the Korean's and the Japanese and the Americans and the...well...everyone else builds them better and cheaper.

So they can't build 'em cheap because a guy that puts a screw in a seat makes $100 grand a year, and they can't make 'em good because they're built in Canada. Maybe they could build 'em and ship 'em to, I don't know, Kewbek? Or Russia?

What about taking all those laid-off auto workers and having them man the customer service phone centers for some big Pakistani or Indian corporations?

Your truck was/is built in Canada.

  15. "Most Agreeable Post" maybe, but not "Suckiest". I haven't looked, but I'm sure one of the "Jack is dead" posts would snow this under easily.

Besides, even without the tongue-in-cheek, the post is exactly bang on.

I would love nothing better than for the ROC to quit "sending money" to Alberta - in exchange, of course, for us not "sending money" outside the province. The oilsands belong to Alberta, not Canada, and all the money changing hands should be left to those of us that reside in the province.

The entitlement to the wealth, energy, future? Born in the greatest Province ever created by God himself! Yes Canadians grovel, grovel you are unworthy of non-corruption. Dig! Dig! Faster! Faster! Get it before anyone realizes its gone. What the magority of Canadians want is a healthy future to evolve out of this black mess. Does Alberta have a plan after they've exported all their wealth, hat in hand back to Ottawa? You do realize it will end...you do right?

  16. Have you read the article on your link?

It absolutely clearly says that there is no single document confirming the liberal gossip about the PMO demand to use the term "Harper Government". At least nobody has seen one.

Can you prove your idea using this

    http://news.gc.ca/web/dsptch-dstrbr-eng.do?mthd=ntnl ?

By the way, isn't "prime_minister_name Government" a usual thing in Canada or any other country?

Well... it is the Harper Government, there is no interest in other political stripes with this PMO. THe brand has been made, truth or lie, if it is said enough it will become the reality.

Whatever happend to a good old baseball bat?

  17. You know Boges, I think it's even worse than that. I'm betting what they're really afraid of is everyone finding out their accounting is in a mess!

They've never been accountable for how they spent their money before, not to the people of Canada or to any bank for corporate financing. If they ran a deficit the federal gov't would always have to bail them out.

So their books are probably a total mess! Like a teenager who has had the house to himself all summer and suddenly learns his parents are cutting their vacation short a few weeks early and will be home that evening!

If this is what is revealed it will be a far worse scandal than just where they spent their money. It would show that even the CBC doesn't know where and how much!

Reminds me of the Harper Conservative budget, remember the one with made up numerals  , probably all smoke and mirrors. Mabey money spent in Quebec! Nothing riles the rage of neo cons more than all that money turning French when it should be subsidizing tar sands. :(

  18. Naaa, we should have given the military the usual shaft that they've gotten over the last 40 years just to show them how much the Canadian public thinks of their effort.

Or our leaders could be honest with us and tell the nation about the energy concerns of other nato nations. Then they can explain why this mission took place and why others won't. It was a safer bet than Syria or Yemen and it still has oil. Sweet light crude dude, the best in a world addicted to oil energy. This said they did a fantastic job on there mission.

  19. Oh, and I don't really see the big deal with the ceremony. Similar ceremonies have happened before, and will happen again (even if they weren't exactly the same in the past).

Military ceremony and thanking our service people yes we all agree it is good. That was complete political propoganda serving the Harper Conservitive Government, not the government for all Canadians. There is nothing noble or victorious about war. It is a failure of globel society. Just because none of us died doesn't make killing acceptable. Sometimes we will fail, hopefully we will learn from our mistakes. I was disgusted to see our military used in political propaganda, but this seems to be Harper's way.

  20. I see nothing to support the statement the government subsidies the oil sands by the amount stated. I'd like a citation other than from the mouth of some environmental activist weasel.

Which amount would you like to make up? Wouldn't it depend on how much is being pumped into the harper Conservative Government? Environmentaly active yes, weasel that seems to be your disposition.
