I realize by your comment that you're calling it a "sick desire"... Sex-changes aren't "desires" as with sex, so if you're going to continue to be close-minded, there's no point in logically explaining this issue to you any further. Like I said before - you will never understand nor should put your mind into it too much, people have different thought processes than you do. People think different ways, it does not make them sick or want to kill people. If you're going to misjudge people, then you are severely misguided and need to recollect yourself. Perhaps you may not know how a person could truly be when all you can do is criticize them instead of getting to know the issue. However, like I was trying to explain - there will always be sick people doing crazy things (like sex-change surgery), but there are real people who do suffer from illnesses. I agree also that these operations should not be funded by the government, and they should be psychiatricly evaluated. I am not saying that ANYONE should be given this surgery, and handed a free surgery - that's ridiculous. What I'm saying is I agree with your previous statement, but badgering on about how "sick desires" are linked to these sex-changes is absolutely absurd, and you need to recollect! If anything, it's the evaluation process that is flawed - people are being evaluated before they get these surgeries in Canada, but sometimes the evaluation process is as absurd as the process to diagnose ADHD! The government is going through psychiatric testing before these surgeries, and they ARE putting too many people through. They don't pry far enough into the issue, they just take your issue and don't put much scrutiny into it at times. You need to review your sources, because people ARE being psychiatricly evaluated before these extreme surgeries are done, however it is a ridiculous system seeing as how many people are going through with it. A person may absolutely want it - but confidence is another spectrum away from this problem.

I'm not saying it's not sick - mental illness is certainly a sickness. But yes, it shouldn't be covered by taxpayers, that IS too much to ask, and isn't helping our understanding of the problem. It's not necessarily a sick "desire", it's up to the person's situation. I know someone, however, who doesn't get support from her mother. She's never revealed her gender problem until the last year, but she's been neglected of care from her mother for other selfish reasons by her mother. She's not so severe that she absolutely needs the surgery, and it might make it worse, not better. If you ask me - she's a perfectly normal female, doesn't act like a tomboy or anything. So, for her to come out with this "gender confusion" issue is out-of-touch. I have seen people with REAL gender confusion issues, and she doesn't reflect that. Her confusion comes from being abused, she has not seen a good relationship out of just being who she is. Gender confusion is an illness, but there are still some issues surrounding other people who claim to have this issue that can function normally if they were taught to be more confident in themselves first, never mind adding the fact that as a person you have this self-image issue growing up. If you ask me, all these other gender-confusion-related issues are clouding up the real fact that there are children who are 5-years-old learning behaviors that are opposite to their REAL gender, and learn at puberty (or sometimes sooner) that they aren't what their gender is to them. That is a REAL issue, not the ones who go to highschool deciding that they're not happy being their gender - this is a misguided issue that has a whole bunch of other little issues they have experienced growing up, and may need further research. However, it is possible that, because of their situation, maybe they had this issue at a childhood age and never could speak out about it until later in life because they don't know how. Problem is - how do you discern them from the ones who were molested in their lives to the point of deciding that, because of their traumatic experiences, that they don't like their genders anymore? Some people can't come to terms with things, but there are still true gender confusion disorders out there, and I believe the REAL illness starts at childhood - not because of social changes or life changes.

This goes back to what I said about the issues of our PROBLEMS not being resolved until people fix THEMSELVES, nevermind this god-complex crap that these kind of people seem to have a problem with (relating to your statement). -

Why the frick are we complaining about restaurants and black people when there's people being raped and beaten out there?!? Oppression is only a SMALL portion of what Human Rights should be about! What about the women in our country? This is stupid bickering about some silly restaurant issue! -
Long text is long... All I have to say is this: public school is a crap-shoot, because you get stupid teachers, and I mean that in the true sense of the word. Of course, almost all of us has had some experience or another. I remember having a problem with my eyes one day in class, like a dryness - an ache. So, to deal with it, I had to close my eyes and roll them up to "stretch" them. My eyes were sore, but I couldn't go do anything about it until after class. Later I get called to the guidance counselor's office - apparently a guy sitting next to me told the counselor that I was "batting my eyelashes" at him, flirting with him (I was constantly bullied in school). Now, INSTEAD of telling the guy not to be paranoid, that it was probably something in my eye, the counselor started at me about not getting "kinky" with the boys in class. I was like "wtf?" and explained that my eyes have been bothering me all day. During then, I stretched my eyes during the interview because they were still dry (rubbing them didn't always help). So THEN the counselor goes "Oh! Don't you start flirting with me!". It was so absurd! Not just that, but the counselor was a woman, and she thought I was turning bisexual after that. If you want my opinion - teachers in highschool are mentally retarded.

What's MORE of a crime against human rights is the cost of living - having families end up homeless because the government is too stupid to deal with rents and income. So what if someone gets a few bruises? Give them somewhere safe to live for god's sake! -
Well, I do agree that they need specialized psychologists, but even these specialized "psychologists" aren't even enough... the methods practiced and dealt with aren't being properly outputted into society. We DO need to understand that even normal people can still face mental adversities, but someone with a more prominent type of mental illness is more self-inflicted. NOT saying they self-inflict themselves, but their own mind is self-inflicting in the uncontrollable sense of the statement. I've been to a psychologist, and even they can't fathom the situation enough to TALK to someone like a normal person. They talk down to you sometimes, like one of those "Oh sweetie, it's okay" kind of people. People are people, even with a mental illness. Speaking on that topic, I don't believe any "specialized psychologist" can help, since we still have the main issue of idiot psychologist medicating children with ADHD medications through misdiagnosis. Doctors misdiagnose, and so do psychologists. If you want to fix the world, you have to fix ourselves, and even the doctors need their heads examined because they can't keep acting like gods of drugs and prescriptions getting their paycheck's worth when in reality certain drugs are killing people or compromising their health worse.

So you find a problem with people having sex-change operations? Let me tell you something - there's a reason WHY people are willing to risk surgery for sex change. It's either that or suicide for people who do it, so now you want to dive into mental health? That's a completely different matter that YOU will NEVER grasp your mind over. Nor should you... it's not worth explaining to you, or for anyone with ANY common sense to experience it.

IMHO: Canadians will never be specialized enough due to the outlook of people in our society. It's sick!

Free market still has to rely on some source, otherwise they're running on peanuts. Exactly what we're running on - peanuts! <sarcasm> But I agree with this, however there's holes with the fact that companies can't keep up with hiring people with proper salaries to continue to fuel our tax system - the government needs to subsidize the salaries being paid out. They apparently have plenty of money to waste on sending soldiers overseas and hire people paying them RIDICULOUS salaries. Some people can't get through college or university because of REAL LIFE issues (sudden illness, physical problems, etc...), so the government leaves them scrounging like scavengers - bs!

The only flaw with your statement is that YOUR idea on how healthcare should work does NOT help save people's lives who can't AFFORD that insurance that you find so glorious. The way that the economy works now doesn't help the fact that things don't work that easily anymore. Thank-you very much Nixon!

My problem with the health care is this - when I had reconstructive jaw surgery, and I asked if I could leave one day, they told me if I could last without my morphine I could leave, but what they DIDN'T tell me was that I still needed to see my doctor the next day. The food they gave me was that Ensure junk, and I couldn't drink it because of the ingredients - one of the oils I couldn't digest properly because I had my gallbladder removed the year before. So INSTEAD of supplying me with special food, they told me I had to drink it or I got nothing. I drank half of each serving, because the Ensure drink would make me sick to my stomach. The health care is flawed because some the nurses are flawed in the damned head! I've had a similar incident when I had my gallbladder surgery, but I can't remember what happened those days other than the fact that they left me in the emergency room for 3 days without giving me any food.

Gap between rich and poor rising faster in Canada

That's why there's a Creative Commons license out there - you can download the music for free, and you can use their music if you credit the author. I've seen people still give money (donate) to the author even though they don't ask for it. It's how it works, and if you ask me, I would do it. -
Gap between rich and poor rising faster in Canada

Pensions are not enough - the government is finally giving out pensions to working people who don't work for the government, but it is a joke! The government doesn't recognize people who don't work in the government as people working FOR the government, and by that I mean - aren't we ALL working for the system? So why is the government passing out panhandler's money? The money the government gives isn't enough for our independence - so we're still comparing people who aren't happy to those who are? "Oh wow, look at this person - she's the happiest person at the tollbooth! Why can't other people be JUST like her?" <-- Gee, I wonder why? I'm a happy person - I'm kind, I have friends, and I laugh a a lot, but when they start lowering the money I get in disability welfare, and I don't have much more than $10 left for my own needs per month, that puts a cloud over my head! With the price of rent - good luck finding a rent-income place to live. It's a joke! I get the highest possible amount because of my condition (except compared to those with extreme physical disabilities I would imagine), and I can't live on my own where I live now. I guess if I had to, I have lots of friends so I could live with them IF I can get to the point where I am able to. So, if you don't have your own business where you earn cash "under the table" you might as well be living with someone else, and with the situation these days you can end up in an extreme situation with the wrong person - so make friends quickly... it's not right because, in this world, it's not a reality to get along with someone enough that you can trust them that far. We all know that if the government can't be trusted, how are we going to trust other people? And justified enough in that sense, because I've been really generous to people and they still do things like you're worth nothing. Not saying "If you can't trust anyone, give up" because of we were more confident in the system, we'd be getting more done. I say this because I've had incredible inspiration - enough to invent something to change the world, and that's being stomped on because I can't afford enough to test it out. In this case it HAS to be experimented, otherwise it's not an official invention - some things need real proof first. This whole country disgusts me. I still have friends who see these flaws too, and I do believe that there is enough people out there who acknowledge the same things - but we're not speaking up enough. Even if we could, we all know how the media likes to shut it out. Ya thanks, great people-to-people support we got going on in this country. -
This sounds as good as the fighter jet plan - wasting money! Sounds efficient in the long run however, I agree, but then we still have natural disasters biting us in the butt. Yes, let the government spend more money on high-tech and less on people with special physical/dietary/mental needs. If there was more support to people with REAL needs, then we wouldn't be getting people on the streets. It's also SO risky to make a living by physical work too, especially when you have to deal with sexual harassment and other issues these days. You will never be able to REDUCE the cost of living, because the owners of the apartment complexes are greedy (grabbing as much money as they can) and not hiring enough or paying enough into proper care. Did you know that on the iciest day of winter last year, the walkway in my area was UNSALTED for an entire 2-3 days? They did f-all.. It's only up to the government WHEN they start stepping in the right way to control these issues - there's not enough rent-income housing, and that's not a BS statement. The most I get is around $800 to $900 a month, and that does NOT give me enough for food on my own with the cost of rent being in the same range. When my mother dies, it only goes up by $10 a month. Also, the government has cut off costs for people with special dietary needs, so now they have to work "under the table" to get proper means to live! Anyone who works in the government is getting rich-off-their arses compared to the average worker, and pensions for anyone who has HAD to work all their life, NOT MAKING ENOUGH TO GO TO COLLEGE, and gets the government's version of a "worker's pension" (I think it's called that) is a f-ing joke! Nobody can retire, save, or benefit off of government support from the sht money they're handing out! So here we are, spending on these stupid wars, aircrafts, and other BUNK and people with special needs aren't getting the proper care. OH OKAY, I lied... sorry. I guess if you're horridly physically disfigured, you get help. "Oh here you go, we see you're not normal -obviously-, so we'll help you MORE!", but THAT is understandable. What is NOT understandable is that a person with hidden problems, even physical, or with mental/dietary needs are being brushed aside - because we look like normal people. I'm getting the most possible - it's not enough to buy what I need to maintain my health and sanity on my own! The only positive is that I know how to program, and I can set up -maybe- my own business to earn cash on the side - how is that a guarantee though? Surely I can get a business going, but if I'm living on this stupid welfare, I don't have my confidence in the system! Good luck getting people to pay what your business is worth, maybe they get so much money they figure you need to charge less, or they can't afford what you're selling! US is spending $$$ on their monument to create their dream-building, the "highest building in the world" crap for the twin towers. Fine enough, but here you have a cancer patient who can't afford gas in his car to get to his chemo or food! Here Canada is after the war in Afghanistan (or Pakistan... is it over yet anyways? I lost track) and we're getting whole FAMILIES on the street. What's just as worse is that people who get through college don't always get a job - it's a flawed system. ---------------------------- Back to the topic - yes, a great idea, but why can't we put this theory aside until we figure this system out? (I know my post is broken, but I'm too tired to go into detail on each issue... that would make this post too long.)
