  1. Anybody ever here of a guy called ralph kline. Listening to talk shows lately and the ROC is so sick of the constant attacks on ford. Ford is doing his job and if he wants to get drunk let him. Toronto's media has made a complete laughing stock of the city. It actually getting ebarressing now. Ford is going to be around for a while.

Indeed! Toronto's media are not professionals. They are bullies. Ford may get drunk now and then but his main sin (unforgiveable to the lefties) was to beat a politically correct soft-head. The so-called progressives are poor losers. Just look at the relentless personal attacks on PM Harper.

  2. Hmmm ... one would think that before you throw stones at other people, you would inform yourself well about your own people.

You really have no idea how much Federal money has and does go into Alberta?

Let us know when you find out.

You could start with current corporate welfare to the tar sands and work backwards.

And don't forget the $60m OF OUR MONEY that Harper gave to fraudster Bruce Carson to schill for the tar sands.

You do realize that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones?

Here's a start on your research:

    http://www.greenparty.ca/vision-green/p1.6

the accelerated capital cost allowance to the tar sands industries totals over $1.3 billion a year.

Are you trying to tell the good folks that the OIL sands industries are receiving, in cash, $1.3 billion per year. If so, you have absolutely no idea what capital cost allowance is OR anything about income taxes in general. That accelerated CCA also gave a big shot in the arm to Ontario's economy too. So, as 'tis often said, "don't look a gift horse in the mouth".

And, I read that propanda spewed out by the Green Party. If, that represents a good start to research, we'd still be hunters and gatherers.

  3. Here's a good indicator of gross mismanagement in Quebec compared to the ROC:

"One kilometre of road cost 37 per cent more to build in Quebec in 2008 than the average cost for the rest of the country, according to the study."

    http://m.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/montreal-mafia-controls-80-per-cent-of-road-contracts-whistleblower-says/article4288973/?service=mobile

Could corruption have a little bit to do with that?

  4. can you name one other province that has received $257B over 50 years and provides more social services than others?

Their champagne standard of living and politically correct "green" environment paid for by the sweat of others. Reminds me of the feudal system.

  5. Put more people in Alberta and voila!

They would have been at the same dollar amount. You guys that keep bitching about this arent too smart. Alberta has a few people in it, Quebec has a lot....do the math.

Toronto alone loses out on over $4B (that be Billions for you math challenged folks) to support the province and country.

But we dont whine like babies

Of course not! Ontario and Quebec have had it their own way from well before Confederation. You keep reminding us how much you have "given" to the ROC (that is really a whine per se) but keep forgetting that Canada's economic system has always made sure the ROC bought most goods and services from Central Canada. Ergo, your prosperity, our poverty. Now that the West is wealthy, we "owe" you. Frankly, Western Canada owes Central Canada SFA! YOU still owe US a poltical system that provides each province a level playing field. Highly unlikely, aint it?

  6. Let's face it many investors stand to make a killing if this pipeline goes through and I wonder how many MP's stand to make a fortunate? Wouldn't that be an indirect conflict of interest?

If you are so sure of that why don't you put a few dollars into some shares and make a "killing" too? ;)

  7. It is. I don't think you have any idea how to evaluate scientific literature, if I'm to assume you believe the link you gave supports your point. A bunch of studies saying it's harmful, and a couple saying there may be some benefits in mice. That's not evidence. I review this kind of stuff for a living, nobody who would be taken seriously ever suggests studies in mice can be used to make conclusions about humans. That's useful for generating ideas for further studies, not for saying anything about therapeutic value for people.

Pot is harmful in some ways, but for most people not too significantly. You are right it is the smoke as far as lung issues, but the drug is also mind-altering and obviously can be used for abuse just like many other drugs including Rx drugs. We give it too some people for pain management and it can be quite useful in well-selected cases. There is no good quality evidence for therapeutic benefit beyond that. There is some lesser quality evidence that it may increase the risk of testicular cancer.

Have there been any highly-respected, in-depth studies on the effects of pot on the ability to drive? How do they measure the THC in one's system? Do they even know if there is a level at which one should appoint a designated driver?

I'm an old guy who doesn't have a crusade for or against. But, if a pot user can be as dangerous as one using alcohol, I could be a fanatic "anti" very quickly.

  8. I wasn't defending McGuinty, I was simply pointing out that most of the current problem in Ontario was not caused in Ontario.

I'm afraid your words prove you are defending him. None but the most dedicated Liberal supporters are pointing right at McGuinty. There is considerable "politicing" from the critics - that's for sure - but from what I've seen and read McGuinty's government was a snafu even if only half was true.

  9. Harb isn't in the Liberal caucus anymore either. Nice try at faux outrage...

And Duffy would still be a member in good standing if the PMO hadn't been caught paying him off.

Days before he was caught, Harper praised Duffy for showing "leadership" as if he was a man of good standing and virtue. Then of course, they got caught. Ooops.

Do you still claim to be non-partisan? Your rhetoric certainly indicates the opposite.

  10. I wonder how much longer I had to support Harper before I stopped being a partisan? His government is becoming as bad as the Liberals that all of you hate so much. I can't support that.

Sorry, you're way out to lunch on this one. Look at the Chretien government and the number of prosecutions, convictions, and people who received jail sentences among those who supported or were part of that government. Then tell me who among the CPC and its supporters are currently headed in the same direction.

I don't hate the Liberals. I just think they have been so smarmy they haven't earned my respect and certainly not my trust. Frankly, they need to completely remake themselves..and JT hasn't the ability to do it.

  11. Of course they're related. It's Quebec's incessant whining, sniveling, bitching, complaining and threatening to leave which has gotten their transfer payments adjusted so often in their favour.

And someone asked a question you Quebec lovers haven't tried to answer. Why is it Quebec, with its large, educated population, all its resources, its cheap energy and easy access to other markets, is perpetually a big have-not province?

It has been over a month and no answers have been forthcoming from Quebec's champions. Your quesion is an excellent one. Frankly, for the very reasons you give, Quebec should be a "have" province; rivalling if not at the top of the other haves.

  12. Notice how little action there is from the Harper-haters when they are presented with factual articles from the world outside Canada. The world has taken notice of what we have accomplished in the last 5 years or so. Too bad our Left dominated media - like the CBC - cannot find the time to let Canadians see themselves as most of the world sees us.

I think the Left, especially the Liberals, are far more interested in trashing Harper. They are so bitter that they are quite willing to belittle Canada and snort at our achievements. I'd wage most of the World, including the USA, marvel at what a great country this is.

  13. Chretch? I trust no one reports you for breach of MLW rules, hey?

expense claims without receipts? I've had employment examples in the past where receipts weren't required... unless one went over a predetermined range for 'representative' personal allowance or 'representative' personal/client allowance. Of course, the higher up the management food-chain, allowed for even more personal discretionary allowance.

in any case, you should update your standard Liberal bashing talking points: Senate, MP Expenses: Politicians Can Claim $90 A Day For Food Without Showing Receipts

Waldo, when people are making points that make you uncomfortable, do you always run to the rule-book? Did you also run to the teacher when you were in elementary school?

$90 a day is a pittance and not at all unreasonable. It amounts to less than $33,000 for a whole year. Nobody is going to get rich by claiming, but not spending, that kind of money.

  14. They most likely did.... There was nothing else there.

What about the current corruption with the current government?

Well, as much as you Liberals would like us to "..move on, move on folks - nothing to see, nothing to see." I believe Harper and his government have betrayed Canadians by letting the matter drop.

Yes, IF there is as much corruption in the current government as there was in Chretien's, let's see a full investigation with full disclosure.

But, I am an idealist and very naive.

  15. I don't think the person was serious. There's no way to enforce it, like you said. The best way to deal with lying politicians is for the opposition to show that they're lying when it's time to ballots in boxes.

What exactly do you mean by "lying politicians" and "the opposition"? I would take great exception to your comment if you meant "lying CPC politicians" and "the pure, innocent opposition".

  16. That is how it works cy. His advisor tried to get dalton to push for sharia law in family court in 04 and 06. The people he is associating with are very dangerous people. I think trudeau thinks so high of himself tht all he has to do is smile and the islamics will change thier ways. This kid is dangerous to this country.

I think the key word you used was "kid". Young Trudeau may be a nice guy but he is so wet behind the ears he should wear terry-towel collars. If the LPC expect him to be the next PM they'd better get busy. He needs a considerable amount of coaching in damned near every realistic aspect of living and working in this society. At the moment "this kid is dangerous.."

  17. I wouldn't just post 'throw the band councils in jail' the way you did without explanation. You seem to be trying to backfill some rationale in now - why don't you just go back to the beginning and start over ?

Michael, with all due respect, I have been watching Canadian politics and public affairs for more than 50 years and knew exactly what he was getting at. Although the natives had and may still have legitimate gripes, I am sure that honest, reasonable Canadians would like to see high fiduciary standards be established by all bands. Any misappropriation or incompetance should be dealt with in accordance with national legal standards and normal standards required in the workplace.
