Thank you for the well-wishes. I am actually looking forward to spending the future lurking and learning from you guys.
Charles Anthony, I am not really that familiar with your postings and opinions, sorry 'bout that.
Hmmm..... where to start?

First, my opinions:

1) I really like The Rolling Stones too. However, I have paid very little attention to them after Wyman left. I liked them much more before Taylor left and I think they were their best before Altamont.

2) I despise the irresponsible and excessive repetition of quotes in quotes and quotes and quotes in quotes and quotes in quotes and quotes in quotes and quotes as exemplified by the last few replies in this thread.

Now, for my postings, I encourage everybody to read the following threads:

Using the [ Quote ] Feature: Avoid using more too many quotes!

Trim Your Posts and Quotes -- Don't just hit "Reply"

which go through details on how to tidy up the formatting.

"Avoid using more too many quotes!"

guilty as charged, but take note, to this post!!!

(oh, ya!!!)

wrt: The Stones?? If you would indulge me??

Fave Album:

Exile on Mainstreet

and that is tough, cause I am also a huge beggars banquet fan.

et tu?

Yep the Stones sure are good "archetypes" for the salt of the earth, the epitome of average joe.

Um, ok?

actually the song pays homage to "the hard workin' people"

it's an ode to the salt of the earth.

Did anyone say anything to the otherwise?

Out of Time

By Jagger/Richards

"You don't know what's going on

You've been away for far too long

You can't come back and think you are still mine

You're out of touch, my baby

My poor discarded baby

I said, baby, baby, baby, you're out of time"

great song!

Greg, you bastard! :P;)

I suppose it would be a tad melodramatic to go on and on about how we, the posters, have suffered an incalculable loss from the conversion of Charles Anthony to moderator, but that was certainly the first feeling that came to mind. There could be no better person for promotion to the job of moderator than he.

It was rare that I really agreed with him on anything, but the overall quality of his posts is difficult to match, which is why I have a great deal of respect for him, an opponent though he may often be.

Thank you for your part in making this forum work.

My comment has to do with your petpeeve and mine, which is the automatic "post has been edited" feature. Sometimes when I am replying to the last post in a thread, I don't know if my response will necessarily follow it, so I use the "quote" feature in case it's separated by other posts. If I can see after posting that no one has posted in between and it wasn't necessary for me to quote the post I was responding to, removing the quote leaves me with the "this post has been edited" line, which I find annoying. It would be nice if a post could be edited for a least a few minutes after it's been posted before the "this post has been edited" feature automatically kicks in.

Replied here.
Hey Chuck Tony, you ever cruise through the Moral & Religious forum?
Yes.
It's hard to believe any sort of moderator or admin looks at it, with the rampant personal attacks and racism in there and all....
Indeed, it may appear that way. When you encounter a forum violation, please report it.

Remy,

I have never laughed soooooo hard before reading your post up above in my whole experience in this forum. Just for more chuckles, part of me is tempted to convert this thread with this:

the posters, have suffered an incalculable loss from the conversion of Charles Anthony to moderator,
as an Agree or Disagree poll.

"Racism" is a term used to silence opinion. It has no meaning whatsoever beyond that. In fact, you have gone on at length arguing that race doesn't even exist, and here you are using it as an excuse to shut other opinions up. In my view that should be more a bannable offence than exercizing free speech.

Charles Anthony has always struck me as someone who would be happier on a place like rabble.ca, where there were no conservatives. We will see just how "even handed" he can bring himself to be.

You're kidding, right? The guy has openly said he hates socialists. As long as the referee refrains from handling the puck, I say let him have his turn.

I'm so far left I was banned at Rabble about 15 times.

Surely if I have "gone on at length" you could provide just one example and quote it here.

I'm awaiting your example.

How is discussing white people racism? No one is saying that there is some genetic predisposition which makes other races inferior. To discuss things such as the status of white people pertaining to possible discrimination against them in the future is not racist, Cybercoma. No one is advocating for the destruction, oppression of another "race", nor for the superiority of any race.

The only possible comment you could be referring to which attempts to belittle one of the non-existant races is Posit's own.

Poor poor Borg...Just a poor racist without a cause....All your "evil white man" self pity should be channeled to something more constructive...perhaps like getting a real job...

I never said talking about race is racism. Jeff, old boy, you need to stop putting words on my keyboard.

Blatant intolerance and bigotry towards others is racist. I'm not going to post specific examples in this thread because it's not the place for it, but I think you know exactly what I'm talking about.

So, about this new moderator, any critiques or suggestions so far? I am wondering if they read all posts or just some sort of scattershoot strategy. Or is it just the same old same old reading complaints of reported threads. Things do seem more polite, if strained around here.

That is the bulk of what I am doing although I am actually trying to read more and more of the posts.
Overall, I like the job you're doing.

My only minor pet peeve is the "edit" tracking. It really should kick in some finite time after a post. Sometimes you miss speeeellllling errors. More to the point, though, if you're responding to many posts after a return to a thread, sometimes it makes sense to consolidate responses to posts in one post. The "edit" function is a disincentive to the use of that clutter-clearing device.

I'm fine with the moderation. I find the arbitrary warnings a bit tiresome, and one in particular to stop picking on Islam to be verging on outrageous and emminently ignorable, but overall not bad. I think a bigger problem is that one or two of the lightweight posters seem to think this is a chatroom or somesuch, with "lol"s and smiley icons sprinkled in every post.

I really couldn't care less about the edit tracking or locked posts or whatever...I think that's mostly a concern for people whose opinions slide all over the place according to the immediate argument, and who for some reason want to hide the fact. But I haven't seen Waz around, so who cares?

CA, congratulation on the new role. I was particularly amused when I came across this post of yours:

Could it be a coincidence that it was written on April's Fools day?

In any case you are doing a fine job as moderator, though I do miss your topical posts.
