margrace Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Had a conversation with my son on Sunday. He commented how much nicer it was where he was working in the oil patch. He said they replaced all the Albertans with Maritimers and these people where willing to work and were much more pleasant to work with. They apparently appreciate a job and don't have time to complain and back stab. Quote
fellowtraveller Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Good for him. Everybody is welcome in Alberta. Quote The government should do something.

Obviously Albertans are more willing to work than any other province though, our participation rate is considerably higher than anywhere else in Canada. Not to mention our take home pay is considerably higher and overall GDP per capita is 150% compared to the rest of Canada... who wouldn't want to work here. It's the richest region in North America, the wealth here is massive compared to anywhere else in Canada that's for sure. Really, someone would be crazy not to work here, no? guyser Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Ahh ...another post that the ROC should get down on their collective knees and bow to the almighty Alberta. We all know Alta is doing fantastic Geoffrey , but whats with the woody about it all the time. Does every post have to bash the ROC ? Oh I know, everytime , and even when not warranted , I will post that Ontario is the engine that runs the country. You know how sickening that would be dont you? Quote

Nah, just taking a shot back at margrace, the perpetual hater of all things Alberta. It was a pretty dirty comment for her to say all Albertans are lazy and things work better when Maritimers work instead. Just had to show some statisical evidence that she's completely wrong. Ontario has nice lakes. See I'm nice to others. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --

He said they replaced all the Albertans with Maritimers and these people where willing to work and were much more pleasant to work with. They apparently appreciate a job and don't have time to complain and back stab. What you are insinuating Margrace is that your son claims the company he works for got rid of all of the Albertans and hired All Maritimers because these Maritimers were willing to work whereas the Albertans were not and the Maritimers were much more pleasant to work with than the Albertans. Your son also claimed in his call to you that the Maritimers appreciate having a job and do not have time to complain and back-stab ---- like the Albertans do. Is that what you or, your son, meant? If so, this is nothing new. Many of the transplants from other provinces (Ontario) have a habit of whining about Albertans. Quote
margrace Posted April 10, 2007 Author Report Posted April 10, 2007 No just commenting on all the nasty comments on here about how lazy Maritmers are and how they shouldn't get any help from the mighty Albertan purse. No I have nothing against Albertans just the ones who bash maritimers needlessly. In fact Albertans in general are not much different from the rest of Canada are they. My grandaughter lives there and loves it or could it be the horses, we will never know. My sister works there and gets fed up with the cold. My grandson works there and loves his job. I just get tired of the the selfcentred bashing easterners. Quote

I should have seen where you were going with that. I am sorry. Yes we do have nice lakes. Frozen mind you, yes mine still is , but nice just the same. geoffrey Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 No apology needed. And snowmobiling. I know Alberta has decent snowmobiling, but it doesn't compare at all to Northern Ontario snowmobiling. Past that, I'm running out of reasons to ever think of moving back. Live From China Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 I am a horrible human being. Come on now, you can't be that bad! I think most of Canada is similar to Alberta: 10 months of winter, followed by 2 months of lousy snowmobiling, snowshoeing and skiing! Quote

geoffrey Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 Montreal and Toronto don't have nearly the opportunity that Calgary and Vancouver have. Whatever they believe, Tremblant is not as good as Fernie or Lousie or Whistler. How much world class backcountry powder does Ontario and Quebec have? I can mountain bike in Fish Creek Park (some decent trails if you know where to look) 15 minutes from my house on bike, so that's pretty solid. I'm talking some really good recreation, not city parks type of thing. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --

Well that depends on the type of recreation for me, if I wanted to shoot a deer or fire up the sled all I need to do is walk outside. I have skiing a half hour north and south (not anywhere near as good as Alberta), fishing 10 mins,. away. But if I want to see the latest movie or go to an Olive garden for example I have a 5hr. drive to the nearest "large" city. For pro hockey I might as well forget it. blueblood Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Skiing? Aren't you from Manitoba? For Us skiing means going down the North facing slope on a river valley, not quite fernie but it does in a pinch. It does quite well for a place in MB and eastern Sask. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who skis regularly in Alberta.
