Christmas Wish

It's that time of year again,

Ya know, if I had just one wish this Christmas, it would be for all the children, all over the world, to join hands and sing in harmony.

But if I could have just 2 wishes this Christmas, it would be for Arar and his wife to be detained, and then deported immediately out of Canada while I stand at the air-port waiving them goodbye.

And if I could have just 3 wishes this Christmas, it would would be to take pierre trudeaus's charter of rights and rip it in half while the CBC records all this, then announce that the CBC will no longer be funded by tax dollars so they better stop the camera's from rolling.

And if I could have a final wish, it would be to partition Canada. The Libs can get their own province. The libs that want recognition of foriegn credentials, more immigrants, and higher taxes. They would get their wish. They can let in 300,000 people a year, be staffed with foreign credentials, and they can pay 75% of their income for tax. When they lose their jobs, homes, and lives, they won't be allowed back into Canada becuase it's THESE SAME PEOPLE THAT ARE RUINING THE COUNTRY!

Heheh..

If I had Christmas wishes to burn, one of them would be for you to A. Stop acting like a troll and a bigot; B. Stop posting here; or C. Suddenly find yourself in the possession of a Syrian citizenship and a deportation order. Unfortunately, none of those are likely to come to pass, most regrettably A.

If I had a wish, it would be for every Muslim cleric, Madrassah teacher and political leader to get their 72 virgins. And make them attractive ones so they won't want to come back.

Do you really want Arar to be waived?

If I had a wish, it would be for Jesus to come back to Earth - assuming he ever existed - and tell everyone they got most of it wrong and he never wrote the bible. He doesn't care who they have sex with or lust after, how they dress, or don't, what they eat, or how they worship - or don't - so long as we all treat each other well. Instead, he would say, life on Earth is a spiritual journey in flesh, a precurser and learning experience to what comes afterwards. Screw it up, and you keep getting sent back until you get it right.

And then he'd fart the most sour fart ever smelled on the planet and laugh:

I'm not Jesus, I'm Satan!!

Dear MD00,

Are you like Stephen Colbert? A parody of rightist absurdity?

'Cause man-o-man, the stuff you write is just wildly out in the reaches of FauxNews unbalance.

For me, I don't care if all children join hands, though it would be nice if they could all be fed and free of violence.

Your comments on Mr. Arar are obviously designed to be inflamatory, so I'll give you a tip ... if you really want to inflame, it would be better to say things a little less stupid, so people will not simply shrug it off as the rantings of a simpleton. If you hope to succeed in achieving true outrage, when you make any future vicious and unwarranted attacks, be a little more realistic.

Figleaf enjoys twisting intolerance and free speech to propagate and accommodate his or her intellectual or political views or perspectives, while crucifying and destroying someone else's, who has the SAME identical rights Figleaf has.

If figleaf has absolute proof as established by a 'court of law', that Arar is innocent, then I wish it would be posted. But until IF that time ever becomes a reality, citizens of Canada can choose to think the way they want, considering Canadian/Syrian Arar unduly opening a can of worms and prosecuting his country and the federal government of Canada for large sums of money.

Strange comment. I can't imagine how it's even possible for me to impact someone's rights over a web forum.

I'm sorry, Leafless, if the clarity and force of my views ends up being 'destructive' to views which oppose mine, but isn't that the whole point of discussion and persuasion?

I've discussed this with you before (though you had no intelligible response).

Mr. Arar has no need at all to 'prove' his innocence, since our laws provide that he is innocent unless proven guilty. Mr. Arar has no way (or reason) to bring himself to court, and the appropriate authorities evidently have no basis on which to do so either. Your persistence in the ludicrous view that he has something to prove just shows either a profound civic ignorance, or a nasty disingenuousness.

Wow...Merry Christmas right back at you. Pretty sad to think someone wants bad to befall his fellow man even though said man has never done a thing to wrong this poster. Yup, sad it is.

As for me? Well , I hope all Canadians , naturalized or not, VISA , permit holders et al all have a wonderful time at this time of year.

Must be hard, giving up your home and country, for whatever reason , and moving half way around the world to a strange place, tagging your kids along who know no one, strange schools, virtually only English being spoken, living hand to mouth until a job comes through, not having the faintest idea of where to go for this or that, likely living in a small cramped apartment with little in the way of furniture or other niceties, enduring cold such as never been seen before, looking around you and seeing the riches and wealth that hard work will someday get them.

And then , sadly , they are confronted with the realization that "some" in Canada harbour thinly veiled racist views , and blame them for every ill that befalls a country.

To those hard working immigrants in this country, keep at it, it does get easier to live here, work hard and be happy. Dont worry about being blamed for everything, trust me, any thinking Canuck does not blame you, just the few ungrateful ones. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas ( or at least a good time off) and are enjoying the holidays looking forward to the New Year and all the fruit it will hold for you.

To those who consider themselves Canadian and espouse moronic diatribes against immigrants , may I just have one wish and that is YOU are mistaken for a star................and a large fir tree is rammed up your butt.

Your clarity and forceful views constitute, in this case, an unwarranted attack on a fellow poster as you are not discussing any issue nor are you in any position of authority to chastise anyone.

Mr. Arar would indeed be stupid to bring this matter to court especially after being CLEARED by a 'secretive inquiry', as he has nothing more to gain in Canada, unless of course Canada refuses to pay or meet his ludicrous demands.

But the point is he should be forced to publicly prove his innocence and tales of torture in a court of law something your appropriate authorities should have insisted on. I believe Mr. Arar would have had great difficulty in doing this and would have failed proving Canada at fault for anything.

Boy leafless I hope that you and no one in your family ever gets caught in that type of law. Remeber justice is blind, she doesn't see colour, race or religion.

I am 100% Canadian so I will NEVER have to worry about that type of law pertaining to Mr. Arar's allegations.

Why don't you inform yourself a little better than what you are and perhaps you would be able to identify in a more positive light and understand those that disagree with Mr. Arar's assault on Canada.

What part of "innocent until proven guilty" are you missing? Why should he have the burden of proof placed on his shoulders for actions of others?

The Govt of Canada supplied info that resulted in Arar being placed on a plane and sent to Syria. The court will recognize that the first party started actions against the second party that resulted in harm to the second party. Thus the second party gets the fruits of whatever the court decides.

Any like or dislike of this man is immaterial and without merit. He deserves to be treated with respect and subsequently the jury will decide what and if he should receive as compensation.

What a hoot. That was possibly the worst piece of "journalism" I have seen from a website trying to pretend to be newsworthy. What a pathetic rant. I have seen better cases made in this forum.

I can't believe you actually choose this link to prove your point.

That is an illogical question in the absence of a trial.

Mr. Arar was exonerated with the help of a secret inquiry behind closed doors.

If you call this an open fair decision based on the contentious point of whether or not information supplied to the U.S. concerning Arar also a Syrian citizen from a terrorist country, who also was found to be associating with an alleged terrorist in Canada, was accurate at the time.

Arar was initially sent to Jordan NOT Syria.

In a freer, democratic country such as Canada, it is cheap politics to exonerate somebody like Arar without a trial, similar to the Gommery Inquiry that resulted with either Paul Martin or John Chretien being appropriately charged.

It was the Liberals who initiated the tax payer paid Arar inquiry.

http://www.wsws.org/articles/2004/feb2004/arar-f04.shtml

Arar was initially coached by C.A.I.R-Canada (Canadian Counsel on American-Islamic Relations) to refuse to help the R.C.M.P. or C.S.I.S.

Your exactly right. The law suit is under the pretence that he was tortured. (fact). The Syrians are the ones being accused of the torture, not Canada (fact). Thus, the Syrians are innocent until proven guilty. Arar's suspect claim is not good enough, thus Syria is not guilty. There is no case for Arar in terms of Canada paying him monies for damages.

What part don't you understand?

Arar has no burden of proof to win a trial in Canada, the US, or Syria. Canadian officials said that he was not torutured, he co-operated with officials, and only on the 7th visit he claimed tortured. He had no visible scars, could remember exact dates and times of events while not remembering other things, and then he tried multiple times to sue the US gov't with failure. Also his character is suspect.

It's a losing trial guys.

jbl or any other attorney will tell you from a legal standpoint he has no case, no evidence, and if anything, there are numerous things that work against him. However he has an islamic vote behind him and Canada being the sorry country it is, it pandering off this vote so it doesn't upset the swing lefty voters out there.

THere are a small sect of Canadians that hold Arar close to their hearts. It's a Michael Moore story. It's a way to inflict self haltred on ourselves.

Now, I gotta go shopping in Montreal right now. Should have seen the mall yesterday. the women were amazing gorgeous. the most beutiful, slim, women i've ever seen in my life. These French Canadians are extrememly good looking. i'ts unreal.

The problem I have with "innocent until proven guilty" is that overseas travel with intent to return is, to some extent, a privilege and not a right. The US bans travel to, for example, Cuba and North Korea. If someone travels to dangerous lands and communes with foolish, dangerous and hostile people, they do bring suspicion on themselves.
