On average the state LOSES $50.000 over the lifetime of the immigrant - state benefits vs. taxes paid. Spanish only schools, counseling, feel good therapy, renaming of streets into Spanish, entire gov't depts speaking Spanish, bi-lingual everything and the rewriting of US history [Mexico is good, US is bad], ensures that these people will remain poor, out of place and anti-progress. Lie-beralism's great Post Modern experiment is in California and it is failing. Assimilation works. Back to basics, toss out the PM nonsense and integrate these people into the mainstream so they pay taxes, feel proud to be American and speak English. Otherwise nothing but misery will result. And yes, stop illegal immigration and force the Mexican gov't to reform and stop exporting its poor brown skinned native Indian population - this policy is racism by any other name. However, when you refer to the "rewriting" of American history, I think you should go back and review that time period yourself. When it comes to the Mexican American War, the U.S. was bad/wrong/imperialistic/immoral/takeyourpick, and while I wouldn't necessarily call Mexico good, they certainly got the shaft in that deal and they really didn't deserve it. Think of it like this, some country like Canada came and took Minnesota and New York from the U.S. after a war and paid us very little for it, than 100 years from now the Canadians were crying and complaining as you are about American living there. I hope you can get the point there and you just can't have everything that suits you. These Mexicans have a poor life with families and no hope in Mexico (some). They here that there are jobs in the U.S., just a few days or weeks journey, DO YOU KNOCK THEM FOR WANTING A BETTER LIFE, OR WOULD YOU PREFER THEY GIVE UP AND JUST DIE A POOR MAN WHO NEVER TRIED FOR A BETTER LIFE!!! The only reason Bush isn't too tough on the Mexicans is because his sister-in-law is Mexican and he unfortunately has a lot of Mexican supporters because of it. And I've seen the Mexicans hard at work myself, doing the jobs no one else wants to do at low rates. From removing asbestos, picking vegetables, scrubbing cities with money, i.e., Houston, San Antonio.. These people (not all as in all situations) are happy to be making a better living than they were at home, how can anyone knock them for it................. No ifs, no ands no buts. The above consortium of special interests are preventing meaningful reform and refusing to accept some obvious facts: 1. Apartheid cultural sensitivity has failed. 2. Assimiliation is vital. 3. Illegal immigrants decrease artificially, wages, and impact significantly the existing poor underclass. 4. The stupidity of the Liberals is that they are teaching the Mexican illegal immigrant that US history is not worth understanding and that Mexican culture is at least equal if not superior. This is rancid ignorance. The Jews, Poles, Italians, Irish, Chinese, Japanese and others were all discriminated against, but were forced to assimiliate. In Cali, Asians have above average incomes - more on average than Whites. Far from being a poor minority they have assimiliated, worked, understood what America means and have prospered. That is the way to get ahead. Not with post modern drivel about relativity, guilt, rewriting history and human rights mumbo jumbo. Things are not relative. Mexico is a failure. The people are fleeing it for a good reason. If Cali becomes Mexi-fornia they will simply move on to Oregon, Washington and Canada. Here's one, do we blame the Mexicans or Latin Americans for growing drugs, or do we blame the Americans that supply the demand for them growing drugs??? Your philosophy would blame the growers because your mind is closed and biased, if you start relieving your biased views and look at it for what it is, you will get a much better understanding of what the reality is Craig.......
