The $1 billion taxpayer-funded security proposal for President Trump's White House ballroom is dead in the Senate after facing fierce pushback from GOP lawmakers. Senate Majority Leader John Thune pulled the funding from the chamber's border package, prompting Trump to demand the firing of the Senate parliamentarian. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Here is a breakdown of what happened:
  • The Funding Struck Down: Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough ruled that the $1 billion Secret Service security package (which included $200 million directly tied to the East Wing Modernization) violated strict budget reconciliation rules. [1, 2]
  • GOP Rebellion: Even before the rules were enforced, lawmakers—including Sens. John Kennedy (R-La.) and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.)—balked at funding a gilded banquet hall while Americans struggled with basic economic affordability, leaving the proposal far short of the 50 votes needed. [1, 2]
  • Thune Under Pressure: Trump privately vented to Thune and demanded he fire the parliamentarian over the ruling, but Thune refused. Republicans subsequently abandoned the ballroom language in the broader immigration bill. [1, 2, 3]
  • Trump's Response: Trump has defended the 90,000-square-foot project, stating that he and private donors will entirely fund the ballroom construction as a "gift" to the country, separating it from the blocked federal security funds. [1, 2]

He worships the golden calf:

The people said to Aaron, ‘Make us a god who will go before us…’ Aaron took the gold from their hands, shaped it with a tool, and made it into a molten calf. They said, ‘Israel, this is your god who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.’ Aaron built an altar in front of it… and the people ate, drank, and gave themselves over to debauchery.”

This is the passage people refer to when they say, ‘He worships the golden calf,’ meaning he worships money, wealth, or material power instead of God.

“It was built so they could indulge in their vices

Aaron built an altar in front of it… and the people ate, drank, and gave themselves over to debauchery.”

Gaytan thinks goat worship is where it's at.

Donny Demento's not looking too healthy these days.                                                                                                                                Dancing to the 'Village People' in his own ballroom just might not happen.                                                                                               Oh well . . . .
