NYC is hardwired blue, so Mamdani could've said he would put everyone in the the streets and they still would've voted for him.

............. this is the kind of political threat Mamdani poses to the U.S. It would seem a stretch but it isn't in any democracy. Those without hope, future, etc. to provide,  will burn it all down thru the vote.  Consider by 2050 most of the U.S. will be populated by those of color? Additionally, political hacks will fall in line to either retain power or the alternate,  lean extremely hard right - yes, fascism. Those that are persecuted today will be doing the same in a few generations.
