Thoughts on Learning a Language

1. Of course, you can use a Smartphone. I recently saw two older people tapping and then pushing a phone across the table to have a conversation.

1a. Many more years ago, I recall seeing two younger people flipping through a small dictionary.

2. I reckon that it is best to learn a language in bed.

2a. In bed, there are two people - but one language.

2b. The person who can speak best the other language, will learn most.   

3. Music. The best way to learn a language is through music, lyrics.

3a. IME people who sing well on tune also have good accents.

4. Numbers and license plates. All languages have different ways to count. As you walk down a street, look at the plates and say the numbers in your mind.

Good actors are better than most of us - his accent is American (but he speaks good French):

In my experience, people who can sing well also have a good accent in a foreign language.

Armenians are wonderful interpreters. The Armenian language has many difficult sounds.

Henry Kissinger had a deep voice, and a strong German accent in English. But he mastered English grammar!
