Are you really this f*cking oblivious....  You haven't heard of wind, solar, nuclear, etc, etc as forms of clean energy and the investments in those areas?  Yes, of course everyone with common sense should have built these forms of energy themselves in their back yards to be self-sufficient....

Rooftop solar is becoming routine in So Cal due to very favorable weather conditions.

I was going to install it this year, but it turned out my roof was repaired contrary to recommendations, which meant the cost of continuous repair would drive up the cost of solar dramatically because they charge a fortune to come out and remove the panels for every repair required. 

Nowadays, even residential wind turbines are becoming more and more common.

FFS...  yes, conventional energy/fossil fuels are required to build and power our world, and will be for many years to come.  They help build clean energy infrastructure so our dependence on fossils fuels is less.   Use your head man....
