August1991 Posted December 25, 2024 Report Posted December 25, 2024 Trudeau was elected in June 1968. Nixon in November1968. They both understood Communism - the power of the State. Did they meet after 1974? Quote
NAME REMOVED Posted December 25, 2024 Report Posted December 25, 2024 Probably not. Nixon hated Trudeau. He used to refer to him, as "that a##hole Trudeau." Quote

August1991 Posted December 29, 2024 Author Report Posted December 29, 2024 Nixon was tall, over 6 foot. Trudeau Snr was short about 5' 8. I'm sure they talked about China in their first meeting. Quote
August1991 Posted January 18, 2025 Author Report Posted January 18, 2025 Nixon left office, as they say, in 1974 and died in 1994. Pierre Trudeau left office in 1984 and died in 2000. Here's my question: Between 1984 and 1994, did these two guys meet? Quote
August1991 Posted February 5, 2025 Author Report Posted February 5, 2025 (edited) Trudeau Snr was born in 1919. Nixon in 1913. I know that Nixon traveled from Montreal to Quebec City by train in 1991. (Both were out of office.) Surely they met. If you know, spill. ===== According to the BBC, after Agnew plead nolo-contendere (no contest - Americans now have an Alford plea, don't ask) in October 1973, Agnew and Nixon never met. August1991 Posted February 19, 2025 Author Report Posted February 19, 2025 Nixon was older and taller. Pearson? Even if he had fought in the Great War. ==== Trudeau Snr did it correct. Quote
August1991 Posted August 28, 2025 Author Report Posted August 28, 2025 In 1984, Trudeau Snr was about 65 years old when he left office. In 1974, Nixon was about 61 when he, uh, left office. ===== These two men were born in the 1910s. They lived through similar world events. Quote
herbie Posted September 1, 2025 Report Posted September 1, 2025 You always post the weirdest things? Where and why would they possibly meet and why would they even want to? I don't think Nixon being so recently disgraced would even be invited to any state or major functions they might even run into each other at, Quote

herbie Posted September 1, 2025 Report Posted September 1, 2025 Michael the article you posted is dated 1969. I understood Augie was asking about the period after Nixon resigned and while PET was still in office. 1 Quote

I don't think Nixon being so recently disgraced would even be invited to any state or major functions they might even run into each other at, Nixon liked to travel, and talk to foreign leaders - even retired ones. I know that Nixon was in Montreal in the early 1990s. Trudeau Snr bought a wonderful place in Montreal; he invited different people to eat with him. After leaving office, did Nixon and Trudeau Snr ever meet? Quote
herbie Posted September 8, 2025 Report Posted September 8, 2025 That's what I asked. Did they? I doubt it, they didn't like each other. Quote
