Van Jones made an incredible admission the other day, I just saw it on Fox so I'll see if I can find the YouTube of it.

Basically he said two things:

  1. he was lamenting the fact that Kamala lost despite being pushed so heavily by the MSM heavies
  2. he said that it showed that the MSM is now the fringe, and influencers like Rogan are the big show now

Something to think about:

Joy Reid only gets about 750K viewers right now per show. Theoretically Rogan has had as many as 13M for one podcast. I think he averages 2M? Maybe 3? I dunno, but it's several times higher than 750K.

Imagine the optics of:

  1. buying/leasing an expensive BUILDING in downtown NY or LA (just having parking spots in downtown for 50 employees would cost a lot)
  2. getting a broadcast license
  3. broadcasting by satellite/cable systems into every home in America
  4. paying lighting technicians, sound engineers, make-up and hair stylists, janitors, interior decorators and set designers, cameramen, etc
  5. buying all those cameras and sound recording equipment

and then getting 1/5th of the viewing audience of a guy in his f'ing basement. 🤣

Think of how many people are involved in getting a Joy Reid show on the air, and all the costs involved in owning the building and all the equipment... And then getting absolutely trounced by the guy from Fear Factor and who commentates on UFC fights...

If I owned that TV station I'd be losing my mind. Of course that shit's for sale, but who would buy it? Joe Rogan? 🤣

If CNN gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters, leftists would believe everything they typed.

If you missed something on the Cultist Narrative Network, don't worry, the dolt horde here will make sure everyone hears it.

Kamala didn't get where she is because of her achievements or anything that came out of her mouth.

I read the first point and then stopped.

Do you know that Fox News is the number one network? They weren't pushing Harris. Did you know that also?

Why do I read these things....

And yes MSM is dying, but for demographic reasons. Google demographic, if this is news to you.

Anyway, sorry to be rude..

This isn't an indictment of the MSM, CNN, and MSNBC. What Jones said is a bit of a side-bit compared to the main thrust of the OP:

  • people in their own BASEMENTS are drawing more viewers than elite-level broadcasters with massive production teams in expensive HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS

If CNN gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters, leftists would believe everything they typed.

Yes. Have you ever seen the number of views on a YouTube video? They will dwarf the number of viewers to the national news in many cases.

This is not necessarily a bad thing either.

Actually, if you follow Mcluhan, there's no such thing as a bad change, there are only changes that we have to adapt to.

Watch this from 27:19.

Jones admits that they thought Kamala was winning because "Cnn, NYT, NPR, all the MSM...." was beating up on Trump.

If you listen to Jones, he doesn't even make any bones about the fact that they were all ardent Kamala supporters.

Apparently 48M people saw Trump's interview on Rogan.

Trump was unafraid to give interviews with whoever would listen, friend or really hostile foe, and he'd go on for hours if they'd let him.

Kamal acted like she was a mafia informant by how afraid she was to answer questions or do interviews. She relied almost entirely on the MSM to push her over the finish line.

She treated the MSM like garbage by not allowing interviews or even questions, then she was even rude to guys like Ben Whittaker and A Cooper in person, but still the MSM treated her like their first-born.

Really? These people are actors, not journalists.

Of course he supported Harris so what?

The point is he thought she was going to win, which is dumb. The race was a toss-up.

It bodes well for the future.

If you look at what news look like before there was a lot of money in it, it was a lot better.

The business model has changed. Just think to 1985 (yes I am old too). If there was an event and you did not have cable news, you had one of 3 local network options or the newspaper tomorrow. Now, there are thousands upon thousands of internet outlets. No need to have a cable subscription or to get a newspaper (and therefore have to wait). Quick and easy to digest on demand.

The news channels still have a huge leg up on podcasters because they really do have a lot more ability to get access to information, verify information, and they can send people around the country to work on stories, etc, but right now they're so intent on spinning everything and omitting what they don't like that no one considers them valid "sources".

There's a wide-open lane for impartial and accurate news but no one wants to get into it.

If CNN gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters, leftists would believe everything they typed.

When Reagan removed the Fairness Doctrine in 1985, it was the beginning of the end to fair and balanced reporting. They really should have brought back the doctrine decades ago.

The fairness doctrine never applied to CNN and Fox. It was just for broadcast news.

But TBH, you don't really want fair and balanced news, do you.... You just want everyone to say what CNN says. You think that's 'true enough'.

I find it unbelievable that the MAGA loons still sprout of this nonsense. FOX News is the biggest cheerleader of any political candidate, out of any MSM channels.

We really should have regulated the internet better, when it started to become popular in the second part of the 90s. There was talk of the FTC doing so, but at the end, the powers that be ruled that it would violate freedom of speech to do so. Now we have a bunch of quasi-celebrities pushing disinformation on anything from COVID to birther conspiracies on Obama.

You are arguably the most level-headed person on the forum. No need to apologise.

The future is all of us being fed the ‘news’ that stokes our anger and prejudices by social media algorithms, hardly a recipe for rational debate or healthy politics.
