Expect higher food prices as dollar continues its plunge after Trump's win (Trudeau does nothing)

Expect higher food prices as dollar continues its plunge | Toronto Sun

So basically trump's win has the American Market soaring. I have stock market gains since 2022, business is excited as hell.

Which of course means the Canadian dollar Dips.

So everything here gets more expensive. They're mentioning food but all computer equipment, cars, fuel, everything we wind up paying for in American dollars to get into the country is going to be more expensive.

And Trudeau has absolutely no plan to deal with this.

I am seriously concerned about what kind of miserable shape our country is going to be in by the time Poilievre manages to have an election and get into power. I think people thought there was going to be an end to the damage and I don't think there is.

Two Marxist WEF globalist traitors to Canada. Thanks to those two, plus the globalist dictator in Ottawa, they have pretty much destroyed Canada as we once knew it. Globalist Freeland is on the board of the WEF. which should tell us everything about what is really wrong and what is really going on in Canada today. Those three constantly lie over and over again about how Canada is supposed to be doing so well, yet behind our backs, they are trying to destroy Canada and eliminate as much of our rights and freedoms of peaceful loving Canada and Canadians as they can. Listening to that lying pos makes me want to puke all the time i see here on TV. Another year of more of their lies to come until we can finally get rid of those three scum out of Ottawa.  At least i hope that will happen. After all, this is Canada, don't you know. Anything can happen before the next election.

We cannot get rid of inflation until the federal government stops borrowing money from the globalist banksters and then blowing all that borrowed money and giving it away to special interests groups and to other 3rd world countries.

Stop the borrowing and spending of money is the only thing that will bring down inflation. Why do you all here not see this well known fact? Our Canadian dollar will only get worse as Trump starts the process of stop borrowing money needlessly and stop spending it foolishly. The rumor is that Trump will start to abolish needless communist government programs and agendas and needless government departments. A lot of people are soon to be getting their pink slips.

The governments in Canada have gotten to big and need to be downsized as quickly as possible. Canadians and Americans do not need all the government that we have today. It is time to at least cut the government in half. Works for me big time. 😇

True

Well actually I suppose you could say that inflation will disappear once Trudeau completely crashes the economy into the ground and nobody can afford to buy anything because we're impoverished. That'll do it too

A pair of brain-dead twits . . . yes, "what could go wrong" ?

And you think PP can do better?? LOL

When we stop being an import country, we may be OK. Fruits and vegetables have near doubled in the past month...why? Oh yeah, we have to buy it form out of country and pay their prices.

Even PP cannot tell the produce growers in the the US and elsewhere to sell to us cheaper LOL So I guess he will also be a "brain dead twit" LOL

In case you've overlooked the fact that PP is as yet un-tried, how can you make yet another cretinous statement on how bad PP will be.  Fact is, how could anyone be worse than the clown PM we have now.  Your fawning man?-worship posts about the national fool PM are quite sad.

Nope, never overlooked it at all. It seems he is the heir apparent and says a lot of things ...my question is, how will he change things he has no control over.?

No one in Canada can control the world economy and how it affects Canada nor can they insinuate they can do better than the !diot that is in power now.

Bottom line is that Canada is at the mercy of everyone else. We have no standing in world affairs and have to pay whatever they ask.

Aaaaand, exactly how would you explain and/or reduce our lowering dollar value and price of products issues??

As I asked you "And you think PP can do better?? "

Being a smart ass does not denote intelligence at all :)

A drug addicted tree sloth could do better. Poilievre will do considerably better.

And we've done better in the past it's not like it's some unattainable goal. Trudeau has driven us into the ground. We just need someone who can drive us the other way.

And Poilievre can definitely ask the tax which is a big part of the cost of distribution of foreign purchased goods. You can certainly incentivize our farmers to produce more instead of constantly threatening them, and he can stop bringing in an extra million mouths to feed every year.

Honestly it's not that he's so good, it's at the liberals are so terrible. All you have to do is not be the liberals and you still going to see an improvement

Stop attacking our oil industry. Our oil reserves are one of the main factors that props up our dollar. Let it go back to normal and our dollar will go back up.

This is not complicated. You don't have to be a financial genius to do better than trudeau or the liberals

Huh?? Oil industry?? Huh??

Not complicated? I explained we import almost everything so it costs more (because our dollar sucks and will get worse). ...or do you have a better explanation??

Yeah sure LOL

Everything was cheaper in the past, everywhere in the world...Duhhh, wake up and smell reality LOL

In fact, on a world basis, Canada is doing good with low inflation, 1.6% last month and 2% this month.

Since we import (almost) everything, we pay the inflationary price of other nations inflation rates and our prices go up.

So, trying to get back to the past prices is an unattainable goal.

Can he??  Or you cannot answer.

You mean when the conservatives were in? Yes that is the reality. Is that really what you wanted to point out :)

Nope. Doesn't make up for the years of the high inflation we've had. Those prices don't go down you know, the fact that they're going up slower doesn't mean that they didn't go up at all already. So no we're not doing good. People still can't afford food, people still can't afford a place to live, the food bank use currently is higher than ever in our history. This is why people hate the liberals

Quote

Nope. In fact we're a net exporter of food, meaning we export more than we import.

Canada's food security dependencies - agriculture.canada.ca

Ooopsie doodle  - you probably should have looked that up first :)

And actually for the most part our imported goods are cheaper than our locally produced goods.

So, trying to get back to the past prices is an unattainable goal.

last solution is super easy, you improve the economy so that wages go up appropriately. The price only has to remain low and relative terms to the income. If food prices go up 100% and incomes go up 100%, then nobody cares.

But the liberals have destroyed our economy to the point where inflation has grossly exceeded wage increases and productivity is falling like a lead balloon which means that's going to get worse.

So you're entirely wrong. We've always managed it before and we would manage it if we had good governance now but we don't. We have the liberals which is the worst party in the history of Canada and their work ideology is bankrupting us.

And you prefer to ignore that rather than deal with it

WTF does the oil industry got to do with the price of food? Want to overlook the 50¢ Loblaws is clawing on a lopaf of bread and blame the 1¢ tax on gas as the culprit again?
Still living in your dreamworld where you think we can sell OUR oil to ourselves for less than to somewhere else or that other countries will pay as much for bitumen as for light crude?
And your constant delusion that the PM has anything at all to do with either?

Go full Trump and pop a 100% tariff on imported food so locally produced 'can compete'.
In greenhouses heated by Small Nukes with $17 an hour pickers. Don't forget greenhouses ALL OVER so you can get those to market without a 5 day train ride. Pay $50 lb. for oranges and $100 watermelons?

Or stop the deficit spending, hike the spending for NATO 100% and claim you won't have to cut everything else to the bone like PP and the DonOld claim.  Yeah the dollar will go up. Too bad you won't have any if that should happen.

Everything was cheaper in the past... regardless who was in power. Things were cheaper under Chretien than under Harper LOL

There has never been a negative inflation rate LOL

You finally realize that  "... prices don't go down you know," LOL No matter who is on power.

Well the grocers in my area were on the news are apologizing for the increase in produce prices and claim local produce was cheaper than what they have to pay for the importted produce.

oh dear, I stupefied him.

Yes Canada has an oil industry.

Our dollar is heavily depended on that oil industry. When our oil industry flourishes the dollar goes up in value. When our dollar goes up in value it's cheaper to buy foreign products.

Is that simple enough grade school explanation for you or do I need to get crayons?

Yes and as I've shown with actual facts that's simply not true. But no surprises there

If you truly think inflation is caused solely by this government, you live on a very small island. We have among the lowest inflation rates in the world but everything we buy costs us more because we make nothing....thus,inflation
