It was about 1800 a day under Trump. The 5000 per day was only from contiguous states (aka central and south America and Canada). Asian, middle eastern, etc didn't count towards the 5000. Sonic was 5000+ When they crossed illegally CBP couldn't touch them. When we did hit 5000+ per day, the only thing that changed was that everyone was directed to a crossing, where they would be let in. All of that could be ended by the POTUS declaring an emergency. All extra money sent to CBP and ICE would be spent on housing, feeding and processing illegal aliens. The bill was an invitation to get everyone in that wanted to be in.
