Russia's police state

I've never had any doubts about just what a horrible place Russia is, or just how awful its government is. I think what took me by surprise in this article was the sheer massive effort, the cost, of monitoring and punishing people on the slightest pretext. It's mind-boggling to imagine how many people the state must employ for this kind of thing.

And even worse when you think about China, and how much MORE effort they put into it.
