Russian Bot accounts flood social media with fake praise of Poilieve

Online bot campaign backing Pierre Poilievre prompts call for probe by election commissioner

These posts claimed to be from people who attended a Poilievre event in Kirkland Lake, Ont. They were actually generated by accounts in Russia, France and other places, and many of them have similar messaging.

Charlie Angus, one of the NDP's MPs from the region, suggested the Conservatives were behind the operation and that it had misfired. At least one account said they had to "brave the cold to attend" the rally in Kirkland Lake.

"This was done so badly where these bots were claiming they had to go through the cold in Northern Ontario at a time of a huge heat wave," Angus said. "I think it's made them look ridiculous."

The Conservatives denied any role in the bot campaign.

FWIW I don’t think PP or CPC were involved, this sounds to me like classic foreign interference in which PP and CPC are victims in a way

Funny how around the world these foreign interference campaigns always overwhelmingly favour wright wing group though.   They do it to the left wing groups also but never to the same extent.

People have been pointing out the Liberal bot farms on X for many months now, but it's been ignored.

For how far ahead the Cons are in the polls, why would they need to use bot farms?

As I clearly said I believe it’s foreign actors not conservatives.

And the’s scant evidence of any ”Liberal bot farms”. While there have been a few random bot-like tweets that are pro-Trudeau specifically they’re a drop in the bucket compared to the continual waves of right wing bot tweets which are legion. An earlier bot campaign was pushing “#TrudeauMustGo” tweets.   Perhaps when conservatives are in power and Liberals are opposition whoever is behind this will switch sides although that’s not what we saw with Trump. The foreign bots were overwhelmingly pro-Trump regardless of whether he was in office

Wrong.

The same photo mashups you've seen of the Con bot farms have been circulating on X for months but with Lib bot farm posts.  But there was silence from the media, silence from Singh, silence from the Libs.

It's to distract Lib supporters.

You should be watching the committee meetings.  Liberal party has been robbing Canada blind since they got into power.

A whole lot of conjecture and accusations and not a shred of evidence or proof.

'A perfect example of social media disinformation that sprouts wings and takes off.

Bot??? from where? What "bot"?

Russia? Really? Prove it.

Oh, it comes form Charlie Angus and his NDP clan...should have known LOL Jagmeet, Charlie is an embarrassment...drop him down the well LOL

I think the foreign interference commision has already uncovered that there were MP's from both sides that got leg ups in their campaigns...right and left...must have been more left because the liberals have pretty much shut down all those inquiries....just a guess, but justin had to have a good reason, if it was just conservatives it would be front page news yesterday....

They don't tho. In fact the reports from CSIS suggest they overwhelmingly favour the liberals in canada. We had a bot on here for a bit and he pitched the hell out of the left wing.

What's REALLY funny is that Jaggers has pretty much left justin off the hook for massive election fraud from china but is hopping mad about a few obvious fake bots now that it's the cpc :)

The actual russians are pretty good - if the bots were that bad you have to wonder if it was perhaps yet another 'false flag' effort.

I don't suppose you have a citation for that, do you?

The Chinese influence case we were talking about earlier this year, that certainly seems to be the case.  Otherwise, I've not seen or found anything from CSIS saying anything remotely like that.
