August1991 Posted June 29, 2024 Author Report Posted June 29, 2024 In summer 1914, an elite - politicians/diplomats/bureaucrats/military guys f*cked things up. For the next 30 years, from 1914-1945, ordinary people.... ===== I fear that our current "elite" is about to do the same for us - in the 2020s. Quote
August1991 Posted June 29, 2024 Author Report Posted June 29, 2024 In the 1990s, it was easy to travel. See one another. We could talk to one another - the Internet existed! But since 2001, it is harder to travel. More checks. And since 2020, it is hard to travel, hard to talk. Quote

August1991 Posted July 1, 2024 Author Report Posted July 1, 2024 Moonbox, I don't think there were "two" world wars. To me, there was a tremendous time of trouble between 1914-1945. This period in European history should be seen as a whole, a single disaster. Without so-called WWI, there would be no WWII. This is how modern historians view the period between 1789-1815 (French Revolution/Napoleonic Wars) This is how students remember the Thirty Years War. (!618-1648 - the Swedes intervened in 1630.) No one remembers the Swedes in the Thirty Years War anymore than someone in 2341 will remember that America got involved in WWII. ===== At present, in the 2020s, I fear that our current elite/smart guys/bureaucrats/elected officials are f*cking this up In 1890, and in 1780 - the cataclysm was avoidable.
