It isn't 'foreign interference' if the culprits are willing MPs | National Post

The annual Special Report on Foreign Interference in Canada’s Democratic Processes and Institutions, released Monday, may end up proving to be the season’s Canadian political page-turner.

Quote

“A clandestine intervention in Canada’s elections is not exactly ‘interference’ if it’s solicited, invited and welcomed, and it’s not precisely ‘foreign’ if the culprits are willing Canadian operatives and proxies in foreign-directed influence campaigns.”

Five years of NSICOP publishings have quickly shifted in tone from relative bureaucratic checked-outed-ness, to “a dreary enumeration of profound ethical and possibly criminal transgressions committed by Canada’s senior politicians, mostly but not exclusively by the governing Liberals.”

Those profound ethical and ‘possibly’ criminal transgressions carry more weight this time when a government finds itself at 24-26% in the polls, and foremost national security experts finally feel comfortable enough to say "This is textbook treason."

I suspect one of them (the Liberals refuse to name names) may be Han Dong.

The names you end up hearing will not surprise you. What may surprise you is what little care went into covering up these matters in the first place.

Almost as if they didn’t care. Almost as if they never respected you, or the office in the first place.

Almost as if they’re traitors.

It’s about the continued fundamental disrespect being shown towards those who are simply trying to scrape by, keep their kids safe, and afford a home, while a ruling political class’s eyes largely remain on scamming as much money as possible from their privileged positions of power.

I will be surprised if anything comes of this.  The RCMP have proved to be extremely reluctant to charge anyone in the Liberal government with anything.

What's a little light Treason between friends?

Just ordinary run of the mill lobbying - it happens all the time.

Wow!  You read that whole report in mere minutes!

Or, like usual, you feel the need to jump in immediately with little thought or preparation, to defend your beloved Liberals.

I probably could have written it in about as long. As I said this business of influence peddling has been going on forever.

Where have you been?

Watching the NISCOP committee meetings.  that's how I know this is not "lobbying".  It's treason.

Oh, okay. Doing something about it should be really really easy then.

Let me know how that works out.

Leftards all understood that colluding with foreign countries to interfere in elections was bad when they thought that Trump was doing it, but when they know that Biden and the Liberals are working with the Chinese gov't it's all good.

They'll make good quislings.

If CNN gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters, leftists would believe everything they typed.

If you missed something on the Cultist Narrative Network, don't worry, the dolt horde here will make sure everyone hears it.

Kamala didn't get where she is because of her achievements or anything that came out of her mouth.

None of this sentiment prevents conservatives from putting measures into place that can prevent this from happening.

They've had ample opportunity to do so for decades now.

Oh well, maybe PP can fix it.

What are the chances?

Nothing to do with influence peddling. That is unless these people cycle to work.

F8 The government’s ability to address vulnerabilities in political party administration is limited.

LOL, limited compared to what? The public's ability to hold political parties to account?

'But but but...you get to vote every 4 - 5 years!'

LMAO!

What country do you live in? The number of times we've had to wait 4 years to vote since the beginning of this century was 2.

What "lobbying" on earth are you on about?

Trying to downplay something so serious?

Giving secrets, isn't lobbying.  It's ...........espionage!

This is what we do to spies!

Canadian navy spy sentenced to 20 years for selling secrets to Russia

Jeffrey Delisle pleaded guilty last year to breach of trust and communicating information that could harm Canada’s interests to a foreign entity

Lol - the drama we witnessed last year!

Trudeau was crying out loud against India for the assassination on Canadian soil..........

...................and yet, here we are...........

..................foreign agents sitting in Canadian Parliament!

And looks like, they'd continue to do so!

Does that makes any sense?

Canada's political system represented by basket of entitled good-for-nothings, feeling the more entitled the less they are useful to the country has been waiting for something like this with wide open hands. The third world where the oligarchy can do anything, and be held to account for nothing, can be just around the corner.

If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant

No, I've been pointing out the seriousness of unmitigated lobbying for years. Reports about interference have made many references to lobbying.

Assuming we can catch them.

In the meantime has anyone been charged, convicted or imprisoned for anything?

Doesn't look like it to me. There's probably  more lobbying going on now to prevent repercussions.

Good grief, this is breaking news.

It's a little too early to just throw your hands up, give up and say, "Oh well, let the politicians commit treason, nothing we can do."

Write your MPs, write the GG, get up off your a$$ and do something to hold them accountable.  You preach it, but you sure don't live it.

So you don't know there is a difference between influence peddling and spying and working for a foreign power in positions of power in government.

I've written many an MP about transparency, questioned them at all candidates meetings.

I've even refused to vote on matters during in camera meetings. They're rare at the local government level but not unheard of.

What have you done?

How could anyone know the difference if it's happening in secrecy behind a closed door?

Even you, with all your body camera wackiness, have to realize that there is a difference between lobbying and treason.
