Pierre Polievre harassed by pro-palestine protesters ... but it goes very differently.

Poilievre was interrupted several times by protesters as he spoke to hundreds of people attending an “Axe the Tax” rally at the Greek Canadian Community of London and Vicinity Club on Sarnia Road.

When a protester at the back of the crowded hall started yelling “Ceasefire now,” other people surrounded him and asked him to stop.

Poilievre told the protester, “You’ve made your point. Nobody came here to listen to you speak. . .  If you want to participate in the event, participate, but if not, hit the road. Thank you.”

Poilievre started to lead an “Axe the Tax” chant that drowned out the protesters.

Up to 20 protesters demanding a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war that started Oct. 7 were escorted out the building and off the property.

well - at least he didn't need 100 police officers :)   PP don't take as much crap as trudeau does.

And at least the protesters were more reasonable. They got their 10 seconds of fame, got to make their point, then got run off and didn't try to blockade or attack anyone.

It is amusing tho.  Justin =  protesters screaming at him and he doesn't know how to cope - 100's of cops called - "Code 3 code 3  - rainbow pony requires immediate evac...."

Pierre =  Fair enough, we heard you- now get out. (they scurry).  Ok - back to the rally.... .

I'd like to see a ceasefire in Gaza but I can't imagine how much of a loser I'd have to be to barge into a political rally focusing on unrelated issues to heckle the speaker, embarrassing myself in the process.

Canadians have the privilege to be able to meet our political leaders in a pretty casual way at rallies and events. No Secret Service-type things to worry about. Let's keep it that way.

Canada also cannot magically activate a ceasefire, it starts with a meaningful agreement on behalf of Hamas to release hostages. Ceasefires must always start on a compromise of the instigator in order to save lives.

What? Trudeau decides if your pancakes rise in the morning.

er... what the hell are you putting into your pancakes?

He could mandate them to stop fighting.

At the very least he could activate the emergency act and sieze their bank accounts :)

Agreed. I would be very critical of anyone doing that even if i agree with them politically otherwise.  Hold your own demonstration if you wish (and many have) and that's fair ball but c'mon.

Poilieve would like to go to Israel to kiss the hand of Netanyahu who just bombs an hospital to look for fighters that wasn't there, he shouldn't be considered as prime minister.

Poilievre is playing the same game as he has always played so far. He does nothing and says nothing to offend anyone.

Things will change for him when he becomes PM and actually has to make a stand and have a position. The real Pierre will have to come out of the bag LOL

Why should he do much else at this point, two years out from the game?

"All Poilievre needs to do for Trudeau to lose, is nothing."

Literally just stay out of the way. Avoid the drowning man.

Besides, I as Canadian citizen prefer a politician who sticks to the core essentials of their job and does them well, stay out of the social re-engineering wars.

Therefore Fie on Trudeau I say, fie. (Just thought I'd throw that last part in.   :D )

Is pretty simple, man. The ball of awareness.

All's Pierre's gotta do is make people aware that he's ready to take the reigns, he is a normal and sensible guy.

Is like boxing, Hagler vs Leonard round one. You don't show all your cards yet. Just defend, lay low, look for weakness. Let em think you're weak... then... whammo

I think that scares the libs more than him being quiet to be honest.

He can't do it now, obviously. It's political death to give your platform early.

But - unlike justin if PP's in power he can focus less on what's said, and focus more on results which he'll be in a much better position to actually deliver. And then he can talk about that.  :)   Justin ran out of road because all his promises never happened and nobody believes what he says now.

But if you actually deliver, then it's a different story.

I think PP's stance on israel would be exactly what it is now. Israel is right to defend itself, and we're not really involved beyond that.

LOL - really.

Do you not realize how it makes you look when you say stuff like that? Can't you at least express a legit opinion that ISN'T something someone would likely hear in Kindergarten?

PP's a good guy.  You may not like his politics but that's not the same thing. And the swing voters have already swung.

Frankly - Trudeau is so bad that even if PP eats a live baby on the floor of the house he'll still look better :)

He'd be pretty weak if he showed his cards now.

This is pretty much politics 101 for any party.  What does he gain by giving a detailed plan now? Nothing - the opposition steals the good ideas and spends 2 years trashing him for unpopular ideas.  He gains zero but any weakness in his platform will be pounced on by the libs.

Worse - things can change in 2 years.  So whatever his policy is today it may not be appropriate 2 years from now - but if he says it now all the libs will say 2 years from now is " HE SAID THAT - HE SAID THAT - DON"T LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYS NOW......"

It would be creating a weakness indeed. It would be no different than giving the enemy your battle plans 2 years before you attack :)

@OftenWrong is correct -  what is important right now is to show that you're "Prime Ministerial" and that you understand what the issues are and that you're ready to take control and lead when the time comes'.

Interesting fact - people do NOT tend to vote a gov't out without someone they can accept to vote in.  The idea that we "vote out govt's" is simply and demonstrably untrue.  If that were the case justin would have been gone last election.

But people have accepted PP - he's just got to keep that image strong till the next election and he'll win a strong majority.

Yep. That's what I was saying, @ExFlyer. All that stuff right there.

Thing is...we bought into lots of promises, vague plans, rhetoric in 2015, 2019 and 2021 and here we are, more than willing to eat up more promises, vague plans and rhetoric all over agai n.

Geez, we is some smart LOL

Why can we not demand and expect more after being sold BS 3 times in a row??

I think Poilievre has been pretty straightforward about his support for Israel and his condemnation of Hamas.

I've seen enough of both to know that's just not possible.

I'm not sure your assessment of what constitutes 'far right' would be in line with mine, or the general population, for that matter. The 'far right' hates Jews, for example. It seems to be the lefties here who share that belief. Well, with one notable exception.
