What are the Chances that the NDP Ditch Sock-Boy, and How Long Would it Take to Force Another Election?

I know that if a budget gets defeated, or another major bill, it stands a vote of non-confidence and results in an election, but what is the actual minimum standard for forcing an election? 

Can the NDP and Conservatives together just demand one?

Up 'til this point it seemed like the NDP stood to lose a lot of ground on the next election, but standing still is a lot like moving fwd at light speed these days. The NDP would probably love an election some time soon.

I think the NDP would have to be in official opposition territory in polling at bare minimum to trigger an election.  They have influence in lawmaking right now, some of their programs are finally being implemented, they probably have more lawmaking power than they've ever had federally, so they have a lot to lose if the CPC beat the Liberals.

At this point I hope the NDP remain associated with the Liberals and keep them and themselves in power for a while, so that when the election happens the NDP AND Liberals are defeated in a landslide.  The longer they stay the greater the public anger.

Was their anything in wests post that even came close to Hitler and Stalin...are you off your meds again, or confuse the blue ones with the reds...

Chuds , chads, chunky MF's, chit heads, chuck you Charlies, and sometimes i've heard "who's got my panties",  ... all describe anyone on the left hand side of any argument really. Now it started as words of endearment by the left to describe themselves..., but quickly the right got a hold of it, and well it has taken off across the country..... Of course we changed the meaning on a few words... to describe those the right considers special, you know the ones with plastic pen protectors in the shirt pockets, thick glasses, talks with a lisp sometimes Although they are getting better at hiding the lisp I got to say, they love to dress up in super hero tights...like spider man, superman... .... you know the elevator does not go all the way to the top, there the type to wear antlers during hunting season, or socks and sandals in then winter, you see a lot of them at save the seal, kill the whales  rallies...

So. Back to the topic at hand.

The NDP likely won't do anything till at least spring 2024 - that's when Jagger's pension kicks in

However - their bigger problem is that right now they're polling far worse than they did last election and would likely lose seats.  Jagger's knows if he loses more seats after a 3rd election like that chances are he's going to a leadership convention if the doesn't resign.

As to the mechanics - while some issues aer indeed an automatic confidence vote (Basically any spending bill is for example, or something can be declared to be if the gov't wants to dare the opposition).  it is also the case that any party an move for a motion of no confidence in the house during any 'opposition day' - where the opposition parties get to present legislation of their own.

That happens fairly regularly although trudeau CAN manipulate that a little.  There's  a set number which MUST happen each session but the gov't can push them all to the end.

At the same time the NDP cannot go into the next election tied to the hip to the libs. They have to break free. But they have to do so in a way that doesn't make them look like opportunists and sets them apart from the liberals.

Historically in supply agreements like this the jr party tends to get mauled in the next election - the NDP will have to end that relationship early and theyl'l want a good reason -  "Oh, we couldn't POSSIBLY support the liberals after XXX happened!"

The thing is - the libs have been so horrible it's hard to imagine what they would spit over than people woudknt say 'but how is that worse than when you stuck with them over xxxxx?"
