Unemployment

Recommended Posts

I remember it (US unemployment) being already very low during the Trump presidency. It continued to drop following a trend during Obama.

Article gives the history-

https://abcnews.go.com/amp/Business/trumps-economic-legacy/story?id=74760051

"In the last year of Trump’s presidency, the unemployment rate reached a 50-year low of 3.5% in February. The coronavirus pandemic soon walloped the economy, forcing swaths of businesses across the country to close. The unemployment level skyrocketed to 14.7% in April. It receded to 6.7% as of last month (Jan 2021) but remains above the level of 4.8% when Trump took office in 2016."

The economy crashed under Trump largely due to his INCOMPETENCE in handling the pandemic.

HE CREATED several super-spreader events by HIS OWN BUNGLING.

Super-spreader #1. China flight "ban." He let 40,000 fly back to the US after his "ban" without testing, tracking nor quarantine.

Super-spreader #2. European flight ban. Announced with no planning creating panic among US citizens stuck in Europe. Videos show panicked citizens running around European airports trying book flights with NO MASKS IN SIGHT. Again, no testing, tracking nor quarantining.

Numerous super-spreaders at Trump campaign rallies with NO MASKS. People like Herman Cain died from COVID caught at Trump rallies.

Find me a global economy that did not crash during covid without a vaccine. You would be looking to Asia, where several countries had Iron strong policies, but more importantly, mass mask adoption.

Looking at death tolls under Biden and under Trump should show a significant change when vaccines were not available, or your assessment is irrelevant.

When Trump was elected many said I hope America doesn't have some sort of crisis like a war, 911 with this incompetent windbag in office, and then came Covid and sure as sh1t proved them right beyond any shadow of a doubt.

The Orange buffoon made sure our country had the worst possible outcome possible with us leading the planet with 1.5 million dead

Our unemployment numbers are so low that we're going to have to streamline the immigration process because we need workers!

HB-1 visa need to go out in record numbers.

Pressure on being undocumented needs to be relaxed so we can get these people to work faster.

We need to open our southern border.

America wants to grow!

America’s unemployment rate has been below 4% for a staggering 16 consecutive months.  The last time America has had unemployment this low for this long was in the 1960’s.

Go Biden!!!

WRONG.

To bring your uneducated brain up to even Florida Third Grade standards, unemployment rates are determined by the number of people filing for unemployment compensation. You obviously didn't know that.

Those figures do not include the self employed (who do not have state financed unemployment insurance) or those who have frankly given up looking for work.

https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/biden-jobs-economy-job-creation-matt-weidinger

Biden's job creation numbers are nuts

Expensive policies didn’t create even a single one of the millions of additional promised jobs

I'll admit that Unelected Joe has created RECORD numbers of jobs, FOR THE FAR EAST.

Compare that to the  Trump miracle.

Unprecedented Economic Boom

Before the China Virus invaded our shores, we built the world’s most prosperous economy.

  • America gained 7 million new jobs – more than three times government experts’ projections.
  • Middle-Class family income increased nearly $6,000 – more than five times the gains during the entire previous administration.
  • The unemployment rate reached 3.5 percent, the lowest in a half-century.
  • Achieved 40 months in a row with more job openings than job-hirings.
  • More Americans reported being employed than ever before – nearly 160 million.
  • Jobless claims hit a nearly 50-year low.
  • The number of people claiming unemployment insurance as a share of the population hit its lowest on record.
  • Incomes rose in every single metro area in the United States for the first time in nearly 3 decades.

Those are the facts, and

It's easy to suggest that  Biden is the worst president in history, but he was never legally elected. He has done more damage to this country than KKKarter, KKKlinton and Obama combined.

Go Biden!!!

So I see that the unemployment numbers have almost reached where they were at the height of the Trump years pre-Rona. Oh what a magnificent accomplishment.

And don't tell Biden to "go". He'll do just that and then Dr. Jill will have to change his undies again for him.

Wrong, dum-dum. Facts prove that you’re wrong. Maybe you should stop listening to news media that deliberately lies to you.  Why do they lie to you?

Look at your chart...dum-dum...the unemployment rate reached pre-Rona is lower that what it is today.

yes, the unemployment rate was lower in early 2020 than it is today but to say that is 100% due to Trump or Biden shows a lack of knowledge of how the unemployment rate is calculated and human nature

Well  i was going to say this a little bit  - the rest of you guys are throwing around 'unemployment' rate as if it's some species of definitive number on it's own without considering a group of stats that put it into perspective. Like labour participation and the type and qality of jobs and ratio of full time to part time and a number of other things.

You can't just look at "unemployment" and say "Trump good" or "Biden good".

You can't judge an economy solely based on the unemployment rate as you know. Besides, not to give you the nuts and bolts but it is an estimate not a count. the ingredients in the model change over time so comparing two points in time is a bit strange if you really think about it. In the US, we calculate the unemployment rate using past LAUS data, unemployment insurance claims (both interstate and intrastate), and QCEW data.

I see that you are moving the pieces around and changing the target, but Trump’s best unemployment figure was not as low as Biden’s, despite the fact that the Federal Reserve has been increasing interest rates in an effort to increase unemployment.

Lowest unemployment rate under Trump was Feb 2020 3.5%.

January and April 2023 under Biden were 3.4%.

Go Biden!!!

What good is a job if you have to live in your car? You may as well pack your bags and move to Portland or San Francisco where homelessness and petty crime are encouraged.

The poverty rate dropped while Trump was president, which is a much better indicator of a successful leader. ;)

The unemployment rate is 3.7

The last unemployment rate before The Rona...3.5

Now you’re just cherry-picking numbers.
Last unemployment rate before Orange Man left office was 6.3%.

Month to month variances of a few tenths of a percent are meaningless anyway, unless you get to seasonal adjustments and all of that.  The Fed is trying to increase unemployment, and it remains at sustained record lows… in this case, 16 consecutive months of sub-4% unemployment. Nobody’s done that since LBJ.

Ya well...to that all I have to say is the great Libbie excuse..."Oh but The Rona!"

So the people finally went back to work. It sure took a long time for Biden and his cronies to let them go back to work. And now that they have, everyone has inflation to deal with. OH GOODIE!

And I wouldn't be flaunting LBJ too much. He and his Great Society horseshit has caused way more problems than the wrinkled old fart was worth.

Joe Biden is to fault for high inflation but not to fault for low unemployment. In fact, I bet Biden is responsible for the inflation in Canada too but has nothing to do with how low our unemployment is. Conservative logic 101.

Biden also caused Covid-19, the Ukraine War, and the breakup of the Beatles.  It says so on Fox News!

Donald Trump landed the astronauts on the moon (which was faked, by the way), he won the Revolutionary War, and helped George Washington build America’s first airport.

Biden reprogrammed all the air-gapped Dominion voting machines from the basement of his Delaware home.

Biden got Trump’s attorney general to halt the investigation of Hillary and jail Trump’s friends instead.  Biden is a badass.
