Why Canada Sucks Now

Recommended Posts

The 1st video is a bunch of incoherent ramblings which boils down to “Canada isn’t exactly how I want it to be, blah blah vax inference blah blah”.

After that one, I really couldn’t be bothered.

A lot of these opinions about how Canada sucks can be summed up as follows:  “the party I voted for didn’t get in power. Trudeau sucks.  I can’t call people insulting, racist, homophobic names anymore without consequences” ….

Canada has moved on from you clowns.  Deal with it.

I think canadians are planning to deal with it.  I think they'll deal with it by giving PP a majority.

Hope you won't be wining about the party you like not getting in when you have to deal with that :)

Three things to consider:

  1. Canada is an Ontario/Quebec axis of power with the rest of the provinces treated as colonies.  We're not a confederation any more. (Maybe we never were.)
  2. The concepts of equality (Equalization, wokeism and socialism) try to make everyone equal.  When everyone is equal history has taught us that then everyone is poor.  Socialism is intellectually very attractive but it has just one fault...it doesn't work.
  3. We're lazy and we want.

So, if you’re ok with not trying to make everyone equal (whatever that entails), why are you complaining about the provinces not being treated equal?   Your 2 points seem contradictory.

Canada is heavily reliant now on being better than the developing world and attracting as many people from developing countries as possible to juice up GDP numbers, but of course the GDP per person has fallen precipitously.  Canadian living standards have dropped and the leadership runs on a platform of national shame. The Marxist nihilists like you keep clapping along with the show.  Lame.

It dropped for 2 quarters in 2022 and you want to rely on “Better Dwelling” magazine to spell out the doom and gloom scenario?  LOL

“Fallen precipitously” is pure hyperbole on your part.

FYI your own post is a snotty mischaracterization of the video. I'm not sure how you get a feeling of superiority from managing to one-down that guy.

Canada has moved on from being a free country to what it has been under Trudeau.

It seems free to you, because you're doing exactly what you want to do, but just like the people in Germany who felt liberated by being allowed to openly express their bigotry, you feel liberated by living in a country where the federal gov't forces people to do things that you want them to do.

IE, what you're experiencing isn't "fweeeeeedom", as a young Kamala Harris would say, it's the joy of living in a place where the gov't's fascism matches your fascism

Not true.  Did you think no one has google to check your claims?

ummm - your graph proves him right.

After 2015 it did fall quite a bit. And aside from a small blip back up in 2020 - we know it' fallen again since.

Did you intend to prove him right ? Or did you just not read it.

the common refrain as you watch these videos is that Canada is extremely expensive

the wages don't keep up with the price of things in Canada

and that this is due to a massively bloated overbearing nanny police state government

which favours giant corporate monopolies over free markets

We have a visitor from the UK at our work this week. The guy went to the grocery store and was shocked at our food prices. He told us the price of food in Canada right now is about double that in the UK. There are massive protests in UK every day about prices for food and tuition, and for citizens rights to be paid fairly.

Canadians are too complacent.

It’s not double the price, but groceries are substantially more expensive in Canada than the UK.

Has this changed over the years?  Did we used to be cheaper?   Can the difference be explained by things like transportation costs being more in Canada?  We have a much more spread out population than in the UK, and less people.  If we jammed our entire population into a space the size of Saskatchewan, I bet we’d find some efficiencies.

But, it doesn’t tell the story you want to spread when we put it into some context, does it?

You need to understand the difference between control and exploitation versus letting people and provinces excel at their strengths.

Sounds like a conspiracy theory.

I was waiting for that.  Dismiss valid criticism through oversimplification and disparagement.  What about “bigoted”?  C’mon, go for it.

The high cost of groceries has nothing to do regulations, carbon taxes, and inflationary over-spending by government, right?

Canada produces it's own food for the most part. Far more than britain does. Our costs would be cheaper.

Actually our population densities are pretty high.  We have more land but we don't live on it. And most of our agricultural centers are near our major living areas.

Of course - we DO have carbon tax so that is going to bump up food costs a lot for the distances they do have to travel.

Not in food. We'd still need as much space to grow the food so a lot of it would have to be shipped farther.  It would actually make it more expensive. Having the farmland situated nearer the people is more efficient.

I wasn’t replying to your post about grocery prices.  I was replying to someone else.

How do we compare in all those things to the UK?

UK has a carbon tax.  UK has a higher debt and deficit than Canada.

So, tell us which regulations you think is causing the difference in prices.  I know for a fact that our smaller population spread out in a country much larger than the UK does lead to higher transportation costs.  Do you disagree with that being a factor?
