Womens tears are making politics - and society - more feminine.

These sorts of comments explain why you can’t get any traction with most people here.

I think most fascists are too far gone, so I'm not trying to make traction with them. I care much more about bringing over centrists, who I have had lots of success with.

You make assumptions about people who don’t see the world according to your radical perspective. Women have always been represented.  Their roles have changed somewhat.

Women have always been represented in media, but mostly according to gender roles. When Captain Marvel came out, a lot of conservatives were mad, saying that now the MCU is "woke."

Like with homophobes, there will always be a segment of society that refuses to accept women in positions of power. We can't reach everyone, but we can do our best to teach children that women can be strong, it's alright to be gay or bi, and gender is nothing more than self-identity.

I wouldn’t split hairs over it, but if roughly 10 percent of the population is gay then one would expect roughly that amount of representation.

So, we don't actually know how much of the population is gay. I'm guessing that bisexuality is WAY more common than most people think, considering bisexuality was super common for most of history. But even if we were to say that same-gender attracted people are only 10%, that means they're still crazy underrepresented in media. When was the last time there was a children's movie or series that depicted homosexuality in any form? Even with adult media, we didn't have a gay couple as part of the main cast until the show Modern Family which came out in the two-thousands. LGBT people are beyond underrepresented.

Before I answer, name top 3 times "Liberals have always tried to compromise with Fascists". I want to see what you define as "Fascists" before the centrist begins the dismantling.

What were 3 times, in your view, when "liberals tried to compromise with fascists"?

Italy, Spain, and Austria. In each case, there were Liberals trying to compromise with the fascist parties. And the only reason I'm not including Germany is because I recognize that nazism is a different form of authoritarianism. Leftists wanted to ban these anti-democratic parties from participating in democracy, but liberals opposed that because "then we'd be just like them." Leck mich. If you're against democracy, you shouldn't be allowed to participate in democracy.

By the way, since nobody here seems to know what fascism is, and you want to see what my definition is, I'll define it now. Fascism is reactionary authoritarianism. Fascism has never been a strict ideology, Mussolini himself never defined it. But generally speaking, fascism seeks to justify authoritarianism through reactionary social politics. It's always that society is rotting from the inside due to "degeneracy" and must be corrected through state-enforcement of "traditional values." Fascists want to go back to a mythological past, before the degeneracy came along and ruined everything. When Republicans talk about eradicating "transgenderism," they're doing fascism. This is why the cultural marxism theory is so popular on the Right.

As stated and illustrated by data, women are faring better than men.  It’s good for them but young men are doing worse than in past generations and there’s no big political move to help them.

No one is stopping you from exploring your lifestyle choices or watching all the homosexual content you want.  Not being interested in it doesn’t make someone homophobic.

It’s why many people like me who were left of centre are abandoning the Liberals in Canada, because that party pushes some radical perspectives to the extent of trying to censor media and compel speech.

If you say Bill C-16, I'm going to send my flying monkeys to get you.

First, if there is still a backlash to women being superheroes, we obviously still have a long way to go.

Secondly, the reason young men are doing worse is for economic reasons created by capitalism, and for social reasons created by patriarchy. Ending patriarchy helps young men.

Why do you think divorce courts favor women over men? It's because of the patriarchal idea that women are better care-takers than men. This is why feminism helps everyone, not just women.

Not being interested in it is fine. But being morally opposed to homo content in children's media is homophobic.

The Republicans and Democrats are both crap, but the Democrats are more authoritarian than the Republicans.  The Dems are the establishment who enforce group think.  The Republicans are more libertarian except that most Republicans have more traditional values than Democrats, which I think is good.  Too many Marxists and Nihilists among the Dems.

No that’s completely wrong.  Maleness is being portrayed as toxic.  Men who have been the builders of much of our civilization are being shown the exits by leftists like you. The fact that you blame the “patriarchy” illustrates this.

No, i don't.  But i can certainly understand why you'd relate to it.

Every other word out of your mouth is a demonstrable lie.  Nobody trusts you or your ilk.

If that was true, don't you think we would say all masculinity is toxic, as opposed to drawing a distinction between healthy masculinity and toxic masculinity?

Again, it really sounds like you're in a right-wing media bubble and you're refusing to fact-check anything. Do you watch ANY media that isn't right-wing?

When it comes to the Republicans, I can point to actual policy and legal action they've taken that is authoritarian. But when people say the Democrats are authoritarian, the "evidence" is always something amorphous like, well they're mean if you disagree with them.

  1. Your attempt to label Republicans as fascists is a baseless and dangerous generalization.
  2. It is the same generalization some of these trolls -> that patrol around here do with the other side.
  3. My radical centrism rejects all forms of extremism, whether it be from the <- left or the right ->.
  4. Not sure who you recruited from the centre in the past, really, must have been some fake weaklings.
  5. I do not need no mob or likes from these folks that patrol around here to aim my cannon at your ideas. Will do it, and in 5 minutes will aim to the far right. Not a problem.
  6. It is no "enlightened" centre here, lady, you keep knocking, all you will find is the radical brand. 😄

Again, are you trolling or what?

Do you not think the modern Republicans are against democracy? Do you not notice that the vast majority of them either support or begrudgingly go along with Trump, even after he tried to steal the 2020 election?

What exactly do the Republicans have to do in order to be considered authoritarian to you?

The suggestion that all modern Republicans are against democracy is an overgeneralization and untrue. While there are certainly some who may have authoritarian leanings, it is unfair to paint an entire group with the same brush.

There are exceptions here and there, like Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney. But they're part of a tiny minority. The GOP as an establishment is fascist. The rare exceptions don't define the party. And it's the same thing with right-wing media. The tiny minority of conservative pundits that aren't pushing fascism don't change the fact that right-wing media as an establishment is fascist now.

Just now, Contrarian said:

It's important to recognize that many Republicans do not support or go along with Trump, and that there are varying opinions within the party. It's important to engage with individuals rather than making assumptions about an entire group.

Yes, but how many of those Republicans are opposing Trump? I think we can agree that most Republicans secretly hate Trump and wish they could go back to the John McCain days. But that doesn't matter, what matters is whether they go along with Trump and the push towards fascism, or if they actually fight back. Ted Cruz probably hates Trump, but Cruz is still a fascist for helping to enable Trump.

Just now, Contrarian said:

Labeling someone as authoritarian should not be taken lightly. It's important to have evidence and examples to back up such claims.

  • Are you Roy Cohn, one of MAGA's idealogue when he worked for the McCarthy trials and hunted "communists" ? You just changed the word to "fascists"?

No, because I'm not saying it should be illegal to be a fascist, and I'm not just using the term for anyone I don't like. You may notice I don't throw around the word "nazi" nearly as much. The reason is because these words aren't just buzzwords to me, I only use them when they fit. Whereas McCarthy just used "communist" against anyone he didn't like.

You think that all those policies trample on rights instead of understanding that many of those policies are there to protect the rights of children, women, etc.  I don’t agree with all policies implemented in all states by any one party.  I do see how much of what is unfolding politically is what results when one or two special interest groups are given privileges over everyone else.  The Dems play favourites with identity groups and can’t understand why not everyone will go along with the plan.  People aren’t stupid. They see the lost generation of men, the grooming and mutilation of children, the war-mongering, the rise in the cost of living. They know who is pushing gender ideology, radical feminism, shutting down pipelines, and war in Ukraine. More people on the left than on the right are pushing all of this.  Don’t worry, many Republicans are too.

How are all of these voter-restriction laws protecting anyone? How were all of the ways they tried to steal the 2020 election anything other than an attack on democracy?

When you combine that with the constant praising and platforming of foreign dictators, it become pretty obvious that the Republicans want America to be a dictatorship.

None of that is authoritarian. Personally, I don't like identity politics either. But identity politics is not authoritarian, it's just a stupid strategy to win elections.

I don't agree with the Democrats on most things. I'm a leftist, not a liberal. But the Democrats aren't trying to end democracy, ban books, or control public schools.

Wow you’re in a bubble.  What about the Durham Report that explains how almost all of the Hillary Camp’s attempts to smear the Trump campaign through the accusations of Russian collusion were false? How about the attacks on JK Rowling and countless other authors? How about the refusal by many left-leaning school boards to allow parents to question blanket gender affirmation without telling parents about what they are affirming? The narratives of white fragility and racial essentialism are reverting us back to segregation.  The refusal to see the corruption in Ukraine and the ways that NATO has parked itself along Russian borders in formerly Soviet states without considering Russian security concerns, etc. has essentially given unlimited support to a war without a clear and realistic goal.  The indictment of Trump based on minor improprieties makes Bill Clinton look like Harvey Weinstein.

Here’s a very moderate take on why the left is losing support:

Public schools don't have the funding they need to give them their own classes. Plus, autistic kids do need to spend time around non-autists in order to learn how to function in society. So even if that funding was there, most kids would still come into contact with autists at some point.

Well by teaching kids about autism, we're teaching them about tolerance for people with disabilities, whether mental or physical. Most people are not in a wheelchair, but children's media has had shows like Pelswick in order to teach kids about tolerance as well as give representation to kids with physical disabilities.

I gotta say, this really just sounds like contrarianism. Like, what is the issue here? We're destigmatizing having a disability while also teaching compassion? Is this bad?

Yes because you Libbies don't know where to stop. You always go way to far.

But we already teach kids about heterosexuality and have been doing so for as long as humans have existed. Like I said before, almost every Disney movie depicts heterosexuality in some form. Why can't we do the same thing with homosexuality? Would it be wrong to have a movie where the princess is rescued by another princess and marries her?

Give them time. They will. Frozen was their first effort. Those girls were not originally written to be sisters.

I'm pretty su re it costs more to have them in regular classes when they have to have their own TA with them and where their presence and behavior winds up distracting and slowing down the class.

Yes, I understand there will be homophobes who don't like seeing gay people. There will also be sexists who don't like that some of the Avengers are women. This is just another argument for representation.

The Avengers are dying as a franchise, and all the wokeness Disney is pushing is one of the major causes.

Female superheroes have bombed at the box office. Be it a female Captain America, Catwoman, Supergirl, or Black Widow. Not because they're female, per se, but because the woke iliberals pushing them have the subtlety of a rhino and turn people off when they insist on shoving stuff into peoples faces. Disney created a female superhero whose main power seems to be she's Muslim and its ratings suck.
