Self-centredness.

100 years of advertising will do that to a culture.

I think that political polarisation is a complex issue with many factors at play, including reactionary forces due to the fast speed of some other forces.

It is important to consider multiple viewpoints, not only what fits one's BIAS and perception, is my opinion.

Yes, however Anarchism, or a complete rejection of all political systems, is not a viable solution.

Is important to recognise that both sides have their flaws and strengths, and polarization arises when people become too entrenched in their own beliefs and fail to listen to the other side.

Why would we listen? We already know what is best, don't we Michael?!

Media play a part, but I think monetizing social media is one of the largest culprits.

Key words that trigger strong emotions, are likeliest to make your video viral. Unfortunately, anger often is what is being triggered.

You hear the common talking points, proving it works.

Politicians also realize how good this is to garner votes.

Play politics with everything. Now votes prevent the end of the world.

"Vote for me, or you will not make it to 35...." "Vote for freedom"..."The future of the country depends on your voting for me..don't ask me how". Heck, Joe Biden even told people like me that they're not black if they don't vote for him. That's how low its gotten.

What happened to voting for who will best meet your needs as a constituant?

I agree.

This is why Kim Kardashian, Ye, Paris Hilton, make the big $ while a doctor, an intelligence officer or a soldier make what they make.

Free market, sure, but really, was this what capitalism was designed for?

So people that are doctors, patriots, professionals, be pushed down while other unqualified elements are given the platform?

This is not a communist speech but some sort of calibration needs to happen or else socialist forces will continue to rise.

Nobel peace prize winning journalist Maria Ressa has a sophisticated take on what's wrong with social media and how to fix it.

Just shows how superficial our society has become.

Is hard to win with reason. For my centrist blog, unless I crash a newsreport from the CBC and yell some garbage, you think will have such traction as "Rebel Media" or some other garbage that sells outrage?

The more irrationality one delivers, the faster the sheep come so one can pocket the money.

Ye

Ye is insanely talented. He earned his salary. The other two, not so much. In fact, the craziest of Ye's antics lost him billions of dollars.

With that said, if you have read more news from Donald Trump than you did Barack Obama, it showcases why he did so well with stealing headlines and dominating on social media.

Its sad, but it's the reality. These people are feeding an insatiable appetite that we have for this type of drivel.

Politics is a drug, that is why we are here too, is my estimation.

We are all part of this. At least, these boards allow us to complain 😃

The US used to have a fairness doctrine which REQUIRED BALANCED news.

Now Fox doesn't even pretend to be "fair and balanced" anymore.

Hannity and Colmes made Colmes disappear. Not that he was all that imposing when he was visible.

I blame cable news, the internet, and social media.  I also blame demographic changes.

But they only serve up what vain and shallow people ask for right?

Do you blame Pepsi for selling unhealthy drinks, or tobacco companion for selling cancerous products?

It's not hard to find examples of leftist leaders hate mongering everyone who votes against them.

E.g., Trudeau said that "the unvaxxed are very often misogynists and racists" and the MSM never blinked. They even imagined a sea of swastikas and confederate flags for him that they couldn't quite catch on camera.

Hillary said: "all Trump voters all fit into what I call 'the basket of deplorables'". The media played up the "only racists vote for Trump" narrative for years now, going so far as to lie about his comments. "Trump referred to immigrants as animals!"

Angry Joe Biden regularly calls Republican voters "extreme MAGA whatevers", white supremacist terrorists, etc.

The FBI regularly call "white supremacist nationalists" the biggest threat to America, but it's the Dems' militias which have caused all the damage in the US recently.

-BLM/Antifa attacked over 100 federal buildings in years of rioting over the past few years. With the full support of the Dems.

-BLM supporters assassinated a dozen or more police officers in multiple separate attacks since 2014. With the full support of the Dems.

-Over 2,000 police officers were injured in 2020 by molotov cocktails, fireworks, bricks, rocks, etc, thrown by Dem militias. With the full support of the Dems.

-BLM/Antifa attacked the WH in 2020, injuring dozens of Secret Service members. With the full support of the Dems.

-BLM overran a police station and declared sovereignty over 7 sq blocks of Seattle, eventually murdering a 16 yr old black kid and critically injuring a 14 yr old. We still know nothing about those kids. With the full support of the Dems.

-The Dems and their MSM flunkies supported "the rights" of their high-profile celebrity followers to openly talk about "killing the president", "blowing up the WH", and holding an effigy of the persident's severed head. Theywhipped their supporters into such a frenzy that they convinced one of their followers to go shoot up a congressional baseball game. Republicans were routinely harassed by Dem supporters in restaurants, movie theatres etc and Dems said nothing. They supported protests at SCJ's homes, including a nationally televised statement from Joe Biden. Kamala Harris openly advocated for Americans to dnoate to a bail fund specifically to get rioters out of jail.

This is an extremely dangerous level of hateful rhetoric and support of violent extremists by both the Dems and their MSM stooges. Unless you believe that almost half of the people in the US and Canada are dangerous racists, and the Dems and (to a slightly lesser extent) Liberals are providing a public service by making all of their seemingly baseless accusations, they are nothing less than despicable hate mongers.

What's even more concerning is that the Dems also denigrate every form of law enforcement in the US aside from the FBI, and the FBI has been committing a lot of crimes for them lately, and pushing all of the Dems' hateful and false narratives.

So a better question is:

Are conservatives just a massive hate group which is deserving of the constant vilification by leftist politicians, the MSM and the FBI, or are the Dems/Libs, the MSM and the FBI vile, dangerous hate mongers?

Ok, so your answer was ideology. The first line said it, the rest of the points are just at the high school level.

I don't think you understand how complex an institution like the FBI is with different spheres of policy thinking, different divisions, etc.

Do me a favour, attempt to stop talking with Antifa and allow the big boys to dismantle her, you are a gift that keeps giving for the far left. Low IQ, daily. Pollutes the same thread with Covid-19, and what Democrats politicians did. Yes, I know politics is a game and some resort to unorthodox tactics, on both sides. I can find examples opposite to yours, but I won't, because, lazy people do not deserve to engage with them.  Soon, you will only talk to the mirror is my estimation.

Yes, correct, instant gratification via social media changed the brain and made people turn to instinct like animals, instead of waiting and thinking rationally before providing an answer. We are all part of this, in my view.

Every time a news story (regardless of topic) comes up, most people weigh in. Not only do they weigh in but they do so with this air of authority, knowledge, and passion. Strange how everyone turns into an expert on Ukraine the instant they became the lead story. And yet prior to that.. most had never read or seen the word, Ukraine, in years. But.. but they are experts.

Yes, published information used to be vetted and trustworthy, because the production and distribution costs were high. Suddenly, anybody could publish anything, and Americans lost their minds--particularly older Americans. They could get all the information in the world, but were completely unprepared to critically evaluate information. Respected institutions used to do that for them.
