Florida Principal Fired Over Michelangelo

Recommended Posts

A Florida Principal in Tallahassee was fired because an art lesson included a photograph of Michelangelo’s David.  This statue has been displayed outdoors, in public, since 1504! (It was moved indoors in 1874, but a replica was placed in the outdoor location) But that’s not conservative enough for Florida!

Here’s Angela Merkel and the President of Italy holding a press conference in front of the statue. Neither were fired for this, and no children were damaged, either.

They should put a wig and makeup on the statue, and tell all the parents that he's going to be allowed to use the girls' bathroom.

Just to watch all the heads explode.

Oh, by the way boys and girls. Here is an actual link to this story. Nobody was fired. (Geez! These goose steppers never let up.)

https://www.newsweek.com/florida-principal-forced-resign-showing-students-michelangelo-statue-1789976

A school principal in Tallahassee, Florida, was forced to resign because, she said, a Renaissance art lesson included a section on Michelangelo's sculpture of the Bible's David, which one parent described as pornographic.

Hope Carrasquilla, who had been the principal at Tallahassee Classical School, stepped down Monday during an emergency board meeting, the Tallahassee Democrat reported. She was appointed to the position less than a year ago.

The school board's chair, Barney Bishop, told Carrasquilla that she could either quit or be fired but gave no reason for the ultimatum. She told the newspaper that she believes it was because of the art lesson, saying, "It saddens me that my time here had to end this way."

For those who aren't quite that observant, the relevant idea here is "she could either quit or be fired but gave no reason for the ultimatum. She told the newspaper that she believes it was because of the art lesson."

So we don't really know if she was asked to resign because of that exhibit.

Of course, the goose steppers here probably didn't know about this either:

But three parents complained that their children felt uncomfortable with the lesson, which included a section on David, a marble statue of a nude male that represents youthful beauty as well as the Italian city of Florence. It is considered one of Michelangelo's masterpieces as well as one of the Renaissance's greatest sculptures.

Gee! The goose steppers here are ready to wage a cyber war if children are uncomfortable with their fcking PRONOUNS but somehow seeing a statue of a NAKED MAN doesn't seem to be a problem.

Florida education?

We elected THIS:

A blue state elected this:

You goose steppers have NO room to talk.

It's normally Dems that cancel people and hate on statues, but a leftist here posted the story, so when I started reading the OP I was initially puzzled about which political party was being blamed for this. (Is it weird that in this day and age politics is always to blame for everything? 40 years ago we would have guessed that misogyny, a personal beef, a sex scandal, gross incompetence, or some other motive was mainly to blame. Now it's always "ONE HUNDRED PERCENT POLITICS?!!!!!")

The main thing here is that "no reason was given", which means that the principal's own reason is either 1) a guess or 2) a diversion.

I think this story got way bigger than anyone anticipated and the shortened version isn't going to be accepted any longer. Methinks more details will emerge. Hopefully sordid. This story needs more oomph.

Statue that’s been publicly displayed outdoors since 1504 suddenly gets a school Principal fired. What else do you need to know?

Arguing that being offended by a public statue of someone who fought to keep slaves or built residential schools is the same as being offended that a statue is of an actual human and not a ken doll, are we?

All to perpetuate the left vs right bullshit?

Now I'll just wait for our resident Church Ladies to tell us how historic statues are grooming Grade 6s....

Oh, I forgot, you have your own definition of “true.”

Nope. I look at the facts and you just have your beliefs.

When someone gets fired, gets dumped, gets into an argument with someone, etc, there's always their story, the other person's side of the story, and somewhere in the middle lies the truth.

What's happening here is her story tickles your confirmation bias so you figure it's a done deal. You just lack the wisdom and the honesty to navigate stories which may involve politics.

Since the reason for her firing was not given by the admin, we ONLY have the LOGIC of cause and effect.

Just look at the current POLITICAL environment in FL and you COULD SEE the cause if you weren't a blind partisan.

You are a fcking LIAR. She was not fired.

And you have NO FCKING ROOM TO TALK especially when there are blue states where teachers are not permitted to give the uneducated brats any grade below a C.

Confederate statues were suddenly torn down after being up for so many decades.

Certain images set certain people off sometimes; what can you do?
