AOC calls a parent's right to know what's being taught to their kids "fascism"

Kind of?   I'm not so interested in quibbling over word meaning.

I do think that the trans panic is largely:

-inhumane

-unprincipled

-a distraction from worse problems that the public should be discussing

It depends what issue we're talking about.  A term like "trans panic" is vague and has zero context or nuance, essentially make it meaningless.  Sure, trans kids have rights.  So do parents, and cis girls.  These are very difficult issues to resolve because they involve a conflict of rights.

AOC is NOT stopping you.

If people like her or Bernie Sanders had their way, I would be taxed through the nose in doing so, forcing me to take my business elsewhere.

Did you have opportunity equal to my white privilege?

Your white privilege is irrelevant. Being white and poor or homeless will suck just as much as if you were black.

We just like creating victims or victim mentalities.

I can assure you that as a black male who grew up poor, whether you had privilege, it meant nothing to my resourcefulness or tenacity and passion.

Its just excuses people make, to justify hand outs.

Last time I checked, when I was poor, there wasn't a government or God to help my family. We had to dig ourselves out of it.

White people are irrelevant to that struggle.

Good luck telling a Turkish parent fleeing the earthquake or a Syrian parent fleeing war that his kid decided to change his pronoun at school today.

They can learn to deal with it the same as anyone else.

Or they can fück off home.

It does not work like that, in my opinion, this is why people get pissed off and start making compromises. Is the fuel for populism.

Oh,  I know it doesn't work like that.  It should.

Just venting.

Is very hard to be a teacher, really, now a days. Personally, the 2 professions, policing and teaching, I would not be able to do because I despise internal politics.

It does not matter if it's a woke militant nut or a religious nut. This idea to be told how to go about your work, by an e-mail, I would probably send an e-mail back with some "nice" language and would get fired the next day.

In the private sector you can get away more with flexibility, bend the rules to get things done without some nut sending you an e-mail with exact demarcation lines. I do respect government workers, but is not for me.

I have spent about 6 years in total of my working life (retired now) not working for some government or another.  And two of those were college.

I never found that.  I always loved my job.

That said, you did quote the two jobs I would never do.  Jobs, to my mind, that they can't pay people enough to do. (By teaching I'm talking about junior or senior high school)

1. Why is this "panic"?  You're inferring this is unreasonable.  Are there legitimate concerns with these issues?

1. School Curriculum should be open, as per the title of the bill.  Schools "reporting" on washroom rules is just stoking a designed controversy IMO.

1. Yes, but, in my view you create some of this outrage with your total dismissal and arrogance by preaching the mentality: "Just get on with it."

2. when someone tries to argue that there are social conservative cultures that have concerns, you just dismiss it and start focusing on "Trolls" and their tractor noise.

1. How can I be creating it?  I am responding to outrage that already exists.

2. I don't think that anyone has suggested or denied that these cultures exist.

You confuse the fact that I reject the new rules of engagement with me rejecting the IDEA of discussion.  I say... come to the table with clean hands.

You probably also missed when I told Zeitgeist that I would be fine with the Catholic school rejecting Ontario's HR code on religious grounds.

I also criticised her rhetoric above.  I don't care for her one whit but it takes two to tango, and .. it takes 538 congressmen to do an insane culture war slam dance for thirty years...

No it doesn't. It takes a thought movement called "cultural marxism" to get a foothold in American universities after the Communists get kicked out of Germany during the second world war. Then it takes another toxic European ideology called Progressivism to move in and adopt it. After that, poof, the magic is done and before you know it churches are socialists and socialist are religious. Climate cultists have us convinced any summer heatwave is evidence the world is coming to an end from global warming, there's no such thing as girls or boys anymore so if your girl thinks she's a boy just cut her breasts off. Here's a handful of puberty blockers for your boy. Too much crime? No problem. Make felonies misdemeanors and misdemeanors felonies so you can imprison your political rivals. And if eventually anybody, like say some Republicans in congress says anything like "Hey...wait a minute this is nuts," not to worry, have your acolytes blame them for it.

You have bought into a giant bogeyman, made up to explain everything that has gone wrong from a certain pov.

I advise you to listen to points from both sides.  As a conservative I eschew fads such as the latest populism.  I advise you to do the same.

Nope. The Cultural Marxist migration happened. Try what you're always expecting everybody else to do for you and look it up.

The evidence of Progs existing (like AOC as a minor example) and what they're about is available to anybody who wants to look around.

And the chaos these two poisonous ideologies have wrought is well documented by anybody with eyes and ears who's willing to watch and listen.

As to listening to both sides, take your own advice for once and try it.

The response of lunatics like AOC just confirms that this isn't about "rights" of trans people. Its about indoctrination of children to their sick cult

AOC definitely used it wrong, but it has 7 letters in it so what did we expect?

I partially agree with this part:

but I'd change it to "pretty much everyone who opines on the topic of fascism needs to read a few history books".

In this day and age the popular misuses of the term fascism fall into 2 categories: 1) "anything a government did which someone doesn't like is fascism", and 2) "it's only fascism when a government commits genocide". Both are equally wrong.

When you're using the former, you're just a whiner, but when you're using the latter it's a real problem, because fascism falls way short of violent genocide. It can be a means to achieving it, but the desire to commit genocide isn't a mandatory part of the puzzle if you're trying to determine how far along the fasc-o-meter one is.

A classic example of #2 is Canada, especially during covid. Just remember that some central themes of fascism are: firm control of the MSM (expand that to social media now), a disregard for individual rights and freedoms, designating specific groups as 'less thans', expressions of an urgent need for everyone to have the exact same beliefs, and punishments for anyone who doesn't comply.

When people noticed that Trudeau's hateful & bigoted speeches, attacks on human rights, attacks on human freedoms, his attacks on specific groups (on both medical and religious grounds), and his control over the MSM and social media were out of control, leftists moved the goalposts back to "He didn't commit genocide, so he isn't a fascist!"

Hitler/Trudeau

Freeze the bank accounts of political dissidents/Freedom Convoy supporters

Jews are unclean/the unvaxed are unclean

Ostracism of Jews/the unvaxed is necessary

MSM control in Canada easily rivals that of Nazi Germany, and social media was overseen by the Trusted News Initiative, or TNI, which CBC is a part of.

The Jews are..../the unvaxed are "very often racists and msogynists" (WTF?)

We absolutely experienced fascism here, but people who went along with fascism in Canada and Germany just called it awesomeness, because from their POV that's what it felt like.

Wow. A long list of FALSE EQUIVALENCES. And a vivid imagination. LMAO

White people are (mostly) the ones who enslaved your ancestors and invented Jim Crow.

I honestly don't see how this drag queen story hour/grade 3 sex change BS is supposed to work out in the long run for leftists.

In a few years there are going to be thousands, maybe tens of thousands of young adults who were sterilized as elementary school students and completely regret it. The ones who don't kill themselves will have a powerful message to tell about the pressure they felt to conform to woke dogma and the general shortsightedness and wickedness of the prog cult.

Some of those kids will be Latino, some will be Asian, some will be black, and their message will carry a lot of weight within the communities that the Dems are trying to brainwash.

It looks like a train wreck to me, tbh.

I'd personally hate to be the guy who has to look Stewart --> Susan in the eye and say "Sorry I helped you to get sterilized when you were 8. I thought that you had the wisdom and foresight to understand the ramifications of what you were doing, and that I was helping you. Please don't kill yourself."

Fascist ?  I don't see how.

Banning books. Outing LGBTQ children.   I think it’s a fair warning by AOC.

Quote

The bill, which passed the House largely on party lines on Friday morning, would force schools to disclose their curriculum and library catalogs to parents, and would also order schools to out LGBTQ children to their parents — even if such a move would put the child in danger of abuse.

Introduced following a rash of book bans in Republican-led states and districts, the bill takes the next step in advancing fascism across the country; if it were passed, it would more than likely ignite a huge wave of book bans and attacks on educators across the country while also further terrorizing trans children in a time of widespread attacks on their rights.
