I am a home owner. I still don't think pushing the price of housing up to astronomical levels is good for the country.

The benefits to immigration, especially as poorly organized as ours is, are vastly overstated.

I agree but there are people making a killing who aren't banks and Telcos.  And they go to Doug Ford's family parties.

But on your own link, "Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS" I find there is a YouTube video link that you posted.

I don't have a problem with YouTube links on here. I have posted enough of them and have been introduced to some pretty good channels posted by others.

As for the immigration topic. I'm on the side that thinks current immigration levels are too high given the housing and health care problems facing Canadians. Then there is the discussion about assimilation vs multiculturalism.

I would be interested to read up on where exactly this population is moving to in Canada. Been To Alberta twice and BC twice. Great places but only spent a total of 3 days in both so really have no feel for the greater picture.

So the population growth is 100% due to immigration. No one was born... if so, that's interesting

the population growth is 100 percent immigration or very close to -  while people are born just as many die (or move out of canada).  So without immigration we'd have stagnant or falling populations. This is actually true of many advanced nations now.

what do you think of this. one year out of date but I doubt that the national changed all that much in one year

Well there's not much in there i didn't know already - most of it's been known for quite some time. There's the usual interesting points - we've got about 20 years of boomer baby bubble to get through before we stop being topheavy, we need immigration to hold our population levels and definitely to have growth.

The statistics aren't hitting on teh important stats tho, such as what percent are able to fluently speak one of the official languages (i understand that's getting better) and what's the dollar figure being spent to upgrade housing and education and medicine to deal with the increased population.

Speaking english or french is noted in research as being the single most significant factor in how fast newcomers will close the income gap between what immigrants get paid and what natural canadians do .  Employers prefer natural canadians for several reasons and it takes time for an immigrant to be thought of that way - speaking the language helps immensely.

except that this source points out a positive birth rate... more born than died. That increases your population. So, not 100% of the population growth is from immigration.

Fly over Canada at night and look out the window. Note the odd light of a mine or lumber camp scattered below. Try living where it's two hours or more to a grocery store, decent restaurant, dentist, eye exam or specialist. Where the helipad is the most used part of the hospital.

Now tell me again we don't need more people.

I totally get where you came to that conclusion. I"m sorry, i should have pointed out a little more. You have to factor into it the following:

The birth rate includes immigrants who arrive and give birth. If there are no immigrants the birth rate goes down.
Further - birth rate and death rate don't really tell the whole story.  "Fertility" rate is a little more of the factor and as we can see the number of births is below 1 per person on average. So - because EVERYBODY dies eventually and we KNOW that there's almost as many males as females, if the average fertility rate is below 2 per female (which gives us 1:1 for both sexes) then we are going to experience negative growth without immigration and i happen to know those figures indicate that. We'd need a much higher birth rate. but - here's a chart to fertility just to show the point.

https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/t1/tbl1/en/tv.action?pid=1310041801

As you can see the fertility rate per female is actually 1.43 Which means we're not replacing oursevles or even coming close. 100 percent of people WILL die, so without immigration and with a 50:50 male female population we need a fertility rate of 2 per woman.

And further - the information above does not account for emmigration. Many people leave canada every year and that's a drain on our population as well. So even if we were at a true 1:1 birth per person ratio we'd still have a shrinking population each year by about 60 thousand ish people.

So - we'd actually be losing ground pretty fast without immigration. 100 percent of our population growth is from immigration.

And this is the time where you drop the mic (hopefully you know what this phrase refers to).
