Contrarian
This is a surprise for me, I thought in Finland, people were very serious and distant. Probably just my ignorance. Brother @-TSS- I ask for your forgiveness. 😄 ----- The World Happiness Report surveys how satisfied people are with their lives in different countries. Standings: 1. Finland 2. Denmark 3. Iceland 4. Israel 5. Netherlands 6. Sweden 7. Norway 8. Switzerland 9. Luxembourg 10. New Zealand 11. Austria 12. Australia 13. Canada 14. Ireland 15. United States 16. Germany 17. Belgium 18. Czech Republic 19. United Kingdom 20. Lithuania Edited March 20 by Contrarian edit design
-TSS-
It's nonsense. Everybody here in Finland makes fun of that news. If we are the happiest people in the world it dreads me to think how miserable people elsewhere must be.
Aristides
Interesting that all the Scandinavian countries are in the top 7.

Really, where did you get that idea? They all belong to the EU except for Norway and it is part of the Schengen Zone as well as contributing over 180 million Euros a year to be part of the European Economic Area. Norway and Denmark belong to NATO, Finland and Sweden have applied to join.

If we are the happiest people in the world it dreads me to think how miserable people elsewhere must be. I found this too around the internet: The real root of their happiness is often attributed to a Finnish concept: *sisu. There is no direct English translation of sisu, but journalist Katja Pantzar, the author of Everyday Sisu, defines it as “a unique form of Finnish fortitude in the face of challenges big or small… It’s a kind of strength that you tap into on a daily basis.” *strength of will, determination, perseverance, and acting rationally in the face of adversity. -TSS-
We are having parliamentary elections in 10 days time on April 2nd. Our PM Sanna Marin, who has got some international attention as well, is going to lose this time. People actually think she is showing signs of a nervous breakdown. She talks out of her mouth making impossible promises such as promising to deliver Ukraine our fighter jets or promising Polish women who want abortion to come here to have it. Of course the SDP, her party, has said that there has been misconstued statements but the damage has been done. As for the election, the so-called right wing populists PS is possibly going to become the largest party. However, they won't be in the government. The SDP and the Conservatives will form a coalition.

August1991
I have been to Finland on several occasions. 1. As I have reminded many foreigners, "Finland is more boring than Canada.". 2. Unlike Canadians, Finns are incapable of integrating foreigners. 3. Finnish is a truly bizarre language. It sounds like Martian. 4. The Finns allied with Hitler to defeat Stalin. Wikipedia.
