Western Europe has been very peaceful since WW2.

When did WW2 end? When did it start? Where is "Western Europe"?

I live in "Northern America".

If Manitobans attacked South Dakota, I think we'd stop these invaders.

But when Serbians attack Croatia, you Europeans simply say - "It happens".

Margaret Thatcher had a remarkable comment about England and its history.

England has always chosen the minority in continental Europe, opposed the majority opinion.

In the 1750s, it chose Prussia.

In the 1800s, it opposed France.

In the mid 1900s, it opposed Germany.

Nothing remarkable about it. British foreign policy was to ally itself with the weaker Continental power to keep any one country from dominating the continent.

Disagree. Correct me.

Europeans fought/killed each other between 1618-1648 - Thirty Years Wars

Europeans fought/killed each other between 1789-1815 - Napoleonic Wars

Europeans fought/killed each other between 1914-1945 - World War I & II

Every three generations or so, Europeans involve the rest of us in horrific violence.

====

To their credit, the Swedes stopped the Thirty Years War. And since 1648, like our Jean Chretien, the Swedes have largely avoided European wars.

In fact, Sweden largely avoided any European wars after 1648.

The period of 1756-63 were difficult in Europe. Prussia (Frederick) was fighting Austria to take Saxony. After the French Revolution in 1789 - until 1815, Europe was a mess.

The Swedes wisely avoided all this.

Russia? For Europeans, Russia was irrelevant until Napoleon (like Hitler) decided to invade it.

======

Many Americans died in WWII.

I read recently that in WWII, more Russian soldiers died In Crimea - only Crimea - removing/defeating the "Fascist" Germans/Romanians than all American soldiers who died in all of Europe/Pacific entirely.

About 400,000 Americans died in WWII.

Of course, for Russians  the war started in 1941. But then, for Americans it also started in 1941.

Europe kills.

You really have to read the dictionary, the l-word. Let's try it together: who is in Ukraine now, as we speak, invading, burning and killing? Is it abstract "Europe"? Or is it, one and concrete, Russia? It is simple really. Just try to open your eyes, and brain.

You seem sad that western Europeans no longer wish to kill each other.s

The US invaded both Canada and Mexico in the 1800's. They also fought a war with Spain and invaded Cuba and the Philippines in the 1890's.

On edit:

Also their genocidal wars against the Seminoles, Apaches, Plains Indians, etc.

Western Europe has done rather well. The EU has been a major reason for no conflicts in the past 75 years.

Exactly...

Peace is the best present the European Union has given us.

But, I am pretty sure, that we have just moved the problem: industrialized economies needs distruction: we have stopped to kill each other, and we started to kill many others. I include in that number all western coutries. Also mine. The list of wars in the poster I posted above, it explain very well ...

In 2014, the Russian federal government decided affairs for people in Crimea.

I was in Crimea after 2014. Most ordinary people were happy to be in Russia.
