If Donald Trump were convicted, should Joe Biden pardon him?

It's a serious question, I mean Nixon was pardoned.

Richard Nixon, the 37th President of the United States, was pardoned by his successor, President Gerald Ford, on September 8, 1974.

No, there's no comparison between Trump and Nixon.  One is a lying, cheating, narcissistic crybaby with as much thought for his country as a pubic louse has for its host, and the other is Richard Nixon.

Lock him up.

Lock him up.

The argument against that is that it will set a precedent.

I would pardon him with a deal = to not be involved in politics.

How is that a deterrence to others who would destroy democracy?

Well, I look at the French as an argument.

They have a history of holding their leaders accountable for their actions, sometimes even harshly. However, this approach has not always produced the desired results in terms of promoting justice and stability in the long run.

I know is contradictory, but that is one reason why I maintain that position.

Aristides already said it.  That precedent would be good.

Nixon was a president who went wrong.  Trump is an arsehole who became president.  If they do finally have the balls to nail him, I hope he dies in jail.

Trump would never, ever abide by any such a deal. A judge could make a deal like that as a condition of probation, and it could be binding in that he could be put in jail for violating it.  But a pardon is absolute and a President cannot un-pardon someone.

  • Let's just play that scenario now in a world where Russia and China are becoming a bigger threat.
  • What do you think that benefit will do to the country now? To have millions of MAGA followers making him some sort of cult leader in prison?
  • I don't think that will help the stability of the United States in my view.

Once they see him crying in court they will find someone else to worship.

The US will be fine.  Russia is nothing, and China is not stupid.

He's ALREADY a CULT leader. Intent on cheating his way back to the WH.

Trump hasn't been charged with a crime because he never committed a crime. Therefor, no pardon is needed.

Just because you're in denial about Trump inciting an insurrection which obstructed the EC vote count, does not negate the tons of evidence that it happened.

Apparently you're naive enough to believe that no one ever gets away with committing a crime. LMAO.

Lacking the option of revoking his citizenship and sending him into exile he will pardon him in the interest of 'healing' America's divisions.

Biden is a President and an American, not a megalomaniac narcissist who'd sell his country to the Devil so long as he got to run it.

There's only one cult in this country and it's the Left.

NO REASON to believe ^this opinion.

OTOH, Trump outright STATED that he could shoot someone on 5th Ave and not lose any voters.

That is the ranting of a CULT LEADER.

Your cult needs to be extinguished.

Donald Trump is the right man for the US presidency - Joe Biden is not.

Donald Trump will rightfully regain the WH in the next election.

Accusations of racism is the only part of the Blue Wall of Silence that interests the Left.
