So called Military on Internet Forums

Recommended Posts

  • On the advice of someone, the below is satire. I will not release any names and want to assure the fake military ones that I never mentioned their aliases or this board, ever.
  • Or maybe is not satire?! But if it is or is not a satire, below is a summary of this satire or real scenario with a man I found and talked to over the telephone. I still have a landline.
  • Who cares what you think? the bottom line is what I know and what reasonable people will think.
  • or might be, as Marcus Aurelius said: "Everything is perception, not the truth."
  • However, some lies are bigger than others. Not a saint, I did bad things in my life too, however, did not go as low as to claim military status and then engage in what I perceive as neo-nazi behavior.
  • But this is not limited to the right-wing --->, a so-called socialist, a left-wing fanatic from Florida on an American board <---, time ago, claimed to be in the military too, however on the American side, a real military man got pissed off, managed to do some digging and at the end, he was exposed with information and based on his writing skills.
  • After some screaming and yelling, he went away in the bin of history, maybe activating on other boards under different aliases.

When I say exposed, I don't mean releasing private information and threatening one with it. That is what thugs do, like threatening your deceased family because you happen to have a difference of opinion, and questioning your Canadian citizenship is a lot of what these fake military ones are participating in.

Me: Thank you for agreeing to speak with me today. As a member of a former Canadian militia, I'd like to get your thoughts on recent reports of extremist views shared by a member.

Former Militia Member met randomly: As a proud member of a former Canadian militia, I take my duty to serve and protect this country very seriously. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the values of duty, honor, and integrity that we stand for.

Me: I'm glad to hear that. However, I have here a few quotes from a self-proclaimed militia member who is pushing neo-Nazi and extremist views on a public board is take on this. (Read him some quotes including the one celebrating the neo-nazi attempted coup in Germany). What are your thoughts on this?

Former Militia Member met randomly:That is deeply concerning to me. Anyone affiliated with a militia should not tolerate extremist views or hate speech of any kind. We are here to protect values and principles.  Any member who espouses extremist views or engages in hate speech does not represent the values of any Canadian militia.

Me: I appreciate your commitment to those values, but what steps do you believe former militia members should take to address this issue?

Former Militia Member met randomly: First and foremost, we need to be vigilant and proactive in identifying any members who hold extremist views or engage in hate speech and tackle it with facts.  We need to emphasize that hate speech and extremist views have no place. We need to work together to promote and defend this country.

---> Many more to follow, only a bit of a preview, unless I am breaking some sort of rules.

---> My plan is simple:

a) Never identify this board to not cause issues for the owner.

b) Never identify people's aliases because I am not a thug to put personal safety at risk even though one is a lying fake and threatens one's family with a keyboard.

c) Keep posting on this board and on this thread, updates. The man above, satire or not, might be available for more, people need to know, every time you read someone that says they are in the military, PLEASE HAVE DOUBTS.

Just have a doubt, filter information, and don't just take it in at face value is my opinion.

I added this under morality because there is no legality to go after one that says garbage on the internet. The screenshot software for threats will still be running through. If this is against forum rules, no issues, please send me a message, and will stop. Until then, never know when that information is needed so will pay attention.

We all lie in my view, is part of life, but man, some lies are bigger than others is my estimation:

A fake military was exposed previously by a media company.

Not sure what to make of all of this, There are plenty of examples of Civilian people trying to steal the honor of serving in our nations military, including the man that dress up as a SGT RCR with maroon beret who gave a interview with CBC during NOV 11 Parade in Ottawa. Not sure why anyone would want to pose as a military member it gets you very little recognition from the rest of Canadians, and mostly it is negative. Just look how we treat our vets as one example...

There are lots of known Vets on this board, from the Airforce, Navy, and Army, i think all of us have had major differences while conversing with each other, and with regular members of this forum.

I am only assuming who we are talking about  he has had his share of differences on this forum. he speaks his mind with not much of a filter attached. I have not meet him nor do i know of him personally, but we do know some of the same people, as i do as a ex member of the RCR Regiment, he knows of people and events and talks the walk. I'm all most certain he is who he says he is...he has served his country as a Royal Canadian Infanteer. That for most people should be enough, but is does not seem so in this case. He has given out his personal info on many occasions, his identity is not a secret. Talk to him, this approach is wrong.

He is responsible for any of his comments, and should be held accountable, like anyone else. In todays internet use you can be anyone you want to be, are we going to check the identity of everyone we have a disagreement with...you must have a lot of time on your hands.

I think if you interviewed 60 thousands members you'll get a wide variety of opinions. not all of them are going to be flattering.

  • I am not a Christian, but I did read the story of the Doubtfoul Thomas.
  • There is nothing wrong to be suspicious, over the internet is my view.
  • You are a good man, remember, centrism.ca is at your service for any information you need.
  • Not sure if any disgruntled brethren of yours would provide this service.

Nothing wrong with being suspicious, it is an healthy trait in most cases, one would have to consider  how would you react to someone attacking your reputation as a engineer.

Our nation has not really been fair to my brethren, and there are long periods of time where my comrades only had the support from each other, making it very difficult to fight PTSD, other injuries, keep your family together, keep a job, and then fight your government for benefits most Canadians already have. you lose your patriotism quickly and when Canadians sit by and watch it becomes very difficult to even call yourself a Canadian.

Very good, and they should over the internet. Question things.

That's the key, not to follow blindly.
