Was the correct choice made? If the choice was not made, it could have been a way bigger disaster, said the US Secretary of Treasury at the time, Paulson.

Here is my recollection from the time:

Congressman to Witness from Federal Reserve: "Who is being made whole from this money?"

Response: "Mumble, Mumble"

Congressman: "We will enter executive session."

No joke, that's what happened. Who got their $80 billion back? Saudi Arabia? China? A bunch of 401K funds?
