One of the things that I have noticed is one of my favorite populists, Bernie Sanders ranting over the years about "Free Colleges, Cancel Debt."

I don't watch TV that often but when Bernie starts pointing the finger, I rather watch robots on CNBC.

I am willing to listen to defenders of this idea, of free colleges, I don't pretend to be an expert on North American schooling system, the number of tests that one had to do in some parts of Europe in order to make it to higher education, allowed a certain percentage to be paid by the government via a bursary, that's all I know. It is/was affordable that way there.

---> but a question would be, where is Bernie going to get the money to fund this if a lot of people want to go to college for free?

Looking forward to reasonable responses. 😄

I don't know that blanket free college (4 year) makes sense, but a stratified version with trades and tech and university isn't unreasonable. Many of the most stable and livable countries in the world have figured out how to manage it. We figured out the other 13 years of public education. Totally open to a sound economic argument.

I'm wondering if those who oppose free college, also oppose free grade school?

Not me, because if someone makes it to graduate level they earned their spot at the table is my view. Either bursary or in some cases free, why not? if someone is gifted and works hard by staying away from mob politics, they should be rewarded.

Update: Never mind, read that wrong, you said grade school as in elementary. Is free in America, right? as it should be. This is college.

My mistake. I meant first through 12th grade which is free here.

Yes, is here too, it should and is good is free, even some in the graduate level should be bursary or free if they achieved is my take here.

The issue is in the middle block.

This idea that everyone needs to go and get a piece of paper to show grandma & grandpa.

And to make that free? Is like making sugar free for everyone.

What can possibly go wrong with this new generation of social media?

So are you also against free K12 schools?

So you always jump to conclusions?

Some kind of voucher system for college for working folk might be okay if:

  • The student majored in STEM subjects
  • The student paid a percent of the tuition
  • The student maintained good grades
  • College fees were capped
  • The college in question valued free speech

Is that why people get an education?

What is wrong with student debt and learning the value of a dollar?

With this generation, if Bernie Sanders opens the gate in colleges how can you say it will go well?

What did Bernie Sanders produced in his life in ferms of a service that I should be listening to him when it comes to economics?

Graduate level possible yes, for a college crowd to vote Bernie at every election because he gave them the fish instead of teaching them how to fish, no thanks.

The concept of FREE COLLEGES is a fcking LIE.

Professors aren't going to suddenly start giving lectures for free.

The water and electric companies are not going to suddenly stop sending bills to colleges.

Other salaried workers are not going to suddenly work for nothing.

The liability insurance companies are not going to suddenly give coverage with zero premium.

Colleges will NEVER BE FREE.

If I mug you and take $500 and buy myself a $500 piece of furniture, that piece is NOT FREE.

GROW A BRAIN, moe ron.

The uneducated neo nazi troll is back for some more humiliation.

Do you enjoy this show daily in public?

The fact that me and you might agree on this and yet you are still talking like a low IQ low level tractor clearly shows how you are slipping.

Not even a cheque from DeSantis helps you now.

There is no such thing as a free K12 schools, you brainless twit.

They are PAID FOR by tax dollars.

Just because you get food stamps, you think ALL food is free.

They are free to the kids who are educated by them you f__king waste of skin. I have duly noted that reason10 is against tax payer funded education on all levels.

For those of us with an actual education, (and I'll try to keep this as simple as I can, since you were born with the extra chromosome), college that actually functions in real life has several results.

1. Community colleges prepare people for trade (like plumbing, air conditioning tech, etc) that start out at six figures.

2. Major companies have this attitude about college: If you have a bachelor's degree, you don't know anything but you are employable because you are able to learn. If you have a Master's Degree you are expected to know what you're doing. You have to have a degree to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, etc.

3. Left Wing diploma mills that charge six figures for a useless Lesbian Dance Theory degree which won't even get you a burger flipping job exist as God's way of saying "you make too much money and you are stupid."

Almost like reason, not really but still, look at that, if he tries he can keep a somewhat conversation.

Besides the homophobic comments, I mostly agree with you here.
