You're such a dupe.  How many security incursions, including airspace happen each year?

Now how many are ANNOUNCED BY THE PENTAGON ??? And subsequently make the top headline?

Just prior to a US and China conference?

Aren't you one of the ones on here who howl about sheep being manipulated by the media?

My god, man.  I'm on your SIDE and you don't even know it.... 😂

No you aren't. If you were on my side you'd see what a disaster this senile old man currently occupying the white house is

Which proves that they could have, should have shot down the Chinese balloon at that point in its flight.

How does it "prove" that when you don't know what the other object was? Could have been a satellite which was headed toward the mainland for re-entry. Better to have its pieces crash in Alaska donchaknow.

Apparently it was over water, same as the balloon.  Except being Alaska, the water was ice.  Should make recovery easier, but  there will be more pieces.

We probably don’t have anything that could get high enough to shoot it down.

At that altitude, Deluge would be the dummy thinking A12s were still operational.F22 used a missile because the balloon was still 2 miles higher.

A U.S. fighter jet shot down another object that was the size of a small car over Alaska on the order of President Biden, the White House said.

It was at 40,000 feet, far lower altitude. That one could've/might've been shredded and deflated with bullets. Haven't seen exactly how it was downed.

Try to make your point without name-calling.

Regardless of how high it was, we know the US had the capability to shoot it down because they shot it down, right? They have enough air power in Alaska to defeat Canada's air force in one day.

The Chinese knew where that ballon was going to go, they're not dumb. More importantly, they knew that they could get away with an act of provocation against the US because they know how divided and rudderless the US is right now. They might also have enough incriminating evidence against the Bidens to get away with it.

Given how powerful spy satellites are nowadays I'm surprised that they felt like a spy balloon was going to be much of an improvement, but they obviously felt like the intel they could glean from that balloon was worth the risk of harming their relationship with the US even further.

US spy satellites are VERY powerful. However Chinese satellites are likely only 3rd rate.

One thing NOBODY is mentioning is that until a couple of years ago, both the US and Russia were parties to the Open Skies Treaty which ALLOWED overflights of each others' nations. Seems that China was never a party to that treaty, and Russia was putting limitations on overflights, so Biden withdrew the US from the treaty and Russia withdrew in retaliation.
