Liberal rumours.

I can understand why you can only offer vague platitudes. Our system has been evolving for many centuries. When you can offer specific changes that will encouge people of ever greater merit to enter politics in the face of the obstacles such as, not just abandoning time with family but threats on their spouse and children and death / rape threats on themselves, interruption on their careers at their prime earning years, and constant whining from constituants who can't be bothered to get educated enough to know what they are taking about, and everybody you meet has their greedy hand out. If these politicians get so much money, how come I am getting requests from Pierre Poilievre to help Peter MacKay, a veteran MP and former cabinet minster, pay off his debts. Now, I wouldn't urinate in Mr. MacKay's ear if his brains were on fire after he stabbed the Conservative party in the back, but this is an illustration of the sacrifices our politicians make in the service of their country. Criticisms from voters who are ignorant of what a great system we have and the fine people who make those sacrifices (even Peter MacKay) are nothing but cheap shots. If you can do better, get off your high horse and put yourself forward.

Re: an election in the spring, I don't see any evidence that the people who have been sucked in by the Libs to this point have gotten any wiser, and the MSM is still their willing accomplice.

The leftard horde is every bit as brainwashed as ever.

I hope you aren't under the illusion that Social Credit is right wing. BC Electric?

Poor, poor entitled public aristocrats, your czars and mandarins... seriously, writing off caviar dinners to taxpayer pocket. Can't hold the tear already. They made this game solely and squarely for themselves, barriers visible and hidden to keep anybody unwanted outside and away from their juicy pie. Now peddling around complaining their heroic efforts for compassion like yeah let's swap juicy allowances and benefits with a lifetime pension for minimal wage factory job, any time and you know it right? You get it all, the package in place of: a) open and transparent b) accountable c) modern d) truly representative and e) if not perfect, more responsible government, with independent checks and controls. Because that's what you ordered. There will be no surprises.

If the Socreds could not beat the Grits with Mr. O'Toole, I cannot see them winning a majority with Mr. Poilievre. The current leader is firmly in the reform / Socialist Credit camp.

Is this meant to be serious commentary? Social credit was about the government giving people money. If anything it's the Liberals who are firm believers in income redistribution. Or are you simply equating social creditism and reform (which have no philosophical relationship) as anger movements against the ineffective, corrupt control of government by central Canadian elites?

His ads are slick and entertaining but so far, I haven't seen any bridge building with the other parties. Are BQ or NDP supporters willing to work with him?

The Conservatives aren't building bridges with parties which reject even the mildest form of centre-right conservatism as white supremacy, misogynistic, anti-gay, and extremist? How shocking!

It is funny how penny anti the current scandals are. Have we forgotten the days of Mike Pearson's government? The Spenser scandal, the furniture scandals, and the ultimate Lucien Rivard scandal, all happening at once. Then there was MacKenzie King's customs scandal. The modern day grits are little leaguers compared to the NHL level scandals of Liberal Governments past. I guess we should be grateful.

Have you forgotten the billion dollar contract Trudeau gave his friends at WE?

Man, you have the largest inferiority complex I have ever witnessed. Seems everyone has more and you have nothing and cannot stop whining about it.

Your life must suck even more than I imagined.

Social Credit stole BC electric from its stockholders just like bolsheviks. The Aberharts, Bennetts and the Mannings are a party of pirates. They had corruption down to a fine art. Unlike Conservatives, the Party of MacDonald, the socreds are the party of Lincoln. They changed their name to CPC, but they are the same old republicans.

Good. So nothing else (of substance) to contribute but still couldn't hold it?

The entire post was

and it has lots of substance.

If that is what you believe, I expect to see you on the ballot in the next election so you can set things right while you are feeding at the trough. It is time for you to either put up or change you tune.

a. What do you mean by open and transparent? Cabinet meetings are communications with the King and therefore, by necessity, secret. There is no way to get around that.

b. How are government officials not accountable now?

c. What is "modern" example?

d. how is our Parliament not representative? How could you make it more so, yet remaine effective?

e. The checks and controls are already there with first, the opposition, second, the Senate, third, the Governor General, fourth, the King, and ultimately, the electorate.

You talk a lot about pensions. Isn't your pension for life. If not, go to your union and get them to negociate a defined benifit pension for you. That is why we have unions. If you are not going to participate in civic politics, the least you can do is participate in your union.

A. Of course there is. But why go around it? Go through it, right up the middle.  Beyond a military or national emergency why is secrecy so necessary exactly, how was this necessity determined and by whom? Shouldn't something as important as a need to keep things from the public be mentioned in our Constitution?

B. Why is the more important question. How? Secreting themselves behind closed doors...emails, smoke signals, playing footsie in the men's room.  Hence the need to tie official discussions to actionable business by a public record, similar in spirit to the way Robert's Rules of Order does.

C.The most glaring modern example is SNC Lavalin.  As for the public utility in disappearing as much secrecy as possible from public spaces and domains, imagine how easy it would be to diffuse some the more dangerous conspiracy thinking and mistrust that's rotting our society if people could simply see and hear what was being discussed when public officials meet with lobbyists from Big Pharma, Big Media and whatever.  That said it would be just as important to know who isn't at a meeting.

D. By adding transparency and lots of it to the public's business that is conducted outside of Parliament.

E. All of whom could exercise their responsibilities more effectively if they had more complete accurate knowledge of the issues and especially the players involved.

C. I meant, how would Myata modernize the government? Nothing to do with SNC Lavalin's failed attempt to obtain a deferred prosecution.

Okay. When you phone or write to an MP or Minister, that is lobbying. Do want your communication with politicians to be made public?

If you want that kind of transparency, you would need every politician, member of their staff and senior civil servant to publish a record of every interaction they have in a day. When would they have time to do any work? The public would be overwhelmed with a massive amount of information, most of which is meaningless. Think of the cost. Who would want to work under those conditions?

Good points.  Perhaps the additional transparency could be within certain parameters, for example +$1,000,000.00.  Or if it's between government and large corporations.

Sure. If that's what it takes to bring the SNC Lavalins of the world into the fold. I've got nothing to hide.
