NDP Leader Singh Calls for Emergency Debate on Health Crisis for Children.

Recommended Posts

Why is NDP leader Jagmeet Singh calling for an emergency debate on the health care crisis involving children?  Where was he the past number of year when health care has been in a crisis for years with long waiting lists for essential cancer treatments, etc., people dying on waiting lists, people waiting in emergency rooms for many hours, and people dying waiting waiting for emergency treatment? There are millions of people who do not have their own doctor, yet he made a deal with Trudeau to keep the Liberals in power in exchange for getting a dental care program for children.  Somebody should tell Singh there are a lot more people in this country than children who require essential health care, as much as it is a deplorable situation.  MPs and parties are supposed to be representing all people, not just the feel good little children who I also love.  All people in Canada deserve proper health care.  Very few children have actually died from the viruses in the present crisis, although any deaths are unacceptable.  The fact is many adults have died because of the failing health care system.   Singh needs to wake up as do the rest of MPs and government and fix the health care system for everyone.  The main thing that Singh talks about is the immediate health crisis for children.  He is obviously doing this because it is a feel good, vote getter line.  This is one of the problems with so-called "democratic" Socialism.  Politicians favour certain demographics or bases of people and can ignore everyone else because calculations are made on how many votes it will earn.  Adopting feel good and sound good policies become the norm while the major problems are ignored.  Democratic Socialism becomes a popularity contest.

NDP crying about how the health care crisis is now affecting children, but the NDP are the big supporters of teaching sexual orientation and gender transitioning ideology to school kids which destroy kids and people's lives.  They appear to want to save their bodies but in effect destroy their minds.  The NDP are so mixed up, I don't know where to start.

If anyone doubts my belief that government cannot be trusted just take a look at two more of today's articles:

Offering euthanasia to struggling veterans is government policy: Full Comment podcast (msn.com)

How did firm with ties to China get RCMP contract? MPs vote for committee probe (msn.com)

Then there is the fact that dangerous offenders are constantly released on parole or on bail by the federally-controlled parole boards and go on to re-offend.  Innocent people repeatedly victimized and suffer.

He is right but maybe he should concentrating on fixing our existing health care instead of promoting new spending on things like dental and $10 daycare. Nothing wrong with those but he seems to want everything without any need for priorities.

We can prioritize more than one thing at a time.

Healthcare is a maintenance cost that needs to go up according to predictable factors like population, average age, etc.  Emergencies like Covid warrant additional funding sometimes.

Daycare is a new relief cost for poor people who are absolutely being battered by the economy right now.

We should prioritize by funding and  making existing programs work properly before we spend on new ones. You can't demand billions to fix something you already have while at the same time demand billions in new spending for new programs. That's a sure way to be half assed or worse at everything.  Singh wants everything with no regard how to pay for it.

Perhaps they should take that class over, it seems this government is struggling to handle ANY major file let alone two at the same time. Our health care system has been in crises mode before the Liberals got elected, and only gotten worse under their 8 year rule.

Lets not forget, infra structure, the entire security apparatus, RCMP, CSIS, DND, Border services, all under manned and under funded, fisheries crises, not to mention getting our natural resources to market, pipe lines, Indigenous peoples, some of the higher profile files that have barely touched or kicked down the road.

Perhaps we should remind everyone out there that this current government has spent well over 800 bil in the last 4 years, and we still Struggle in most areas. let alone have over 4.5 bil paid out to Canadians who did not qualify, or scam the system, another 27 bil they don't know where it went, unaccounted for.

Yep sounds like they got it under control to me.

You can't eat daycare Michael, nor can you put in in your gas tank, or heat your home with it. Day care was a distraction, nothing more.

1.  The dilemma seems to be that there's no money.  And yet, there is somehow a lot of money going somewhere.

Maybe the race to the bottom is done.

Every new spending program is a blatant redistribution of wealth.  Most people will never see $10 a day daycare or free child dental care.  These aren’t universal programs.  A small segment of the population will enjoy these benefits at a time of extreme public debt.  These programs are headlines to buy votes.

Did you ever consider prioritizing everything means giving no priority to anything, especially the failing health care system?   That is exactly what the NDP have been doing all along, prioritizing everything which means giving no priority to anything or to the health care system which is in a crisis.

The problem is they want to increase spending (the politicians on the left) but they don't want to increase taxes to pay for it.  Increasing spending is popular, and increasing taxes is not.  Being fiscally responsible if clearly not a priority at the polls.

We can have whatever programs and spending we want as long as we're also willing to pay for it.

The provinces can fix the healthcare system tomorrow because its caused by a staffing shortage.  The solution is to temporarily increase pay for medical staff in hospitals until the health pressures caused by the pandemic is over.  However, the provinces don't want to fix the problem, because it costs money.  They would rather wait for the feds to bail them out and give them the money...until it starts hurting the premiers in the polls.

Let's never forget:  most of our politicians, especially the ones who have had any success, are self-interested careerist sociopaths.  It's very hard to get to be powerful by being nice or ethical.  I'm sure the back benchers for the NDP are mostly nice people.

Never trust the government to look after you.  Look after yourself.  You care a lot more about yourself and your family than the government does.

The politicians don't care.  They have privileged access to the healthcare system.  They will NEVER wait to get their kids looked at.  Rich people can also go to the US to get treatment.  No 2-tier my butt.

The problem is that we don't trust ourselves to look after the government. Further to that the government would resent our intrusion into our domain and you can be damn sure the politicians will do whatever they can to prevent it.

It's ridiculous, there's only some 338 of them and 38 million of us. It's phenomenal how much we can't get our shit together.

No, that is not what Jesus would do.

Singh is just virtue-signaling like Trudeau often does.   He is using the children to try to gain some popularity.   Only the simple-minded can't see that.

The health care system is supposed to be there for everyone, not just kids.  We have no private system or anywhere else to go to.

We're just out of an existential Covid crisis complete with war emergency measures (reading news from China, jingle bells?) but try to find a competent family doctor in say, 3 years (personal experience) the stuff of legends and not even mentioning close or convenience. No volumes of public dough thrown at it fix anything, does magic for representative" and public CEO etc mansions and pensions though.

The country will be one glaring crisis. Give it two to three decades, we will see a different country. Welcome to the third world, the third world and so on, as the music goes. Carefree mindless slumber and governments broke out of all bounds and controls do that always, no exceptions, a law of Nature.
