Zero Alcohol. Day 0.

Recommended Posts

You know, alcohol has taken down more people than any other ideology out there.

I know of "systems" such as A.A., never been, I read the doctrine -> but considering it after the last string of events.

The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated the process.

This is what I did in the last 24 hours:

- Spent 300 $ for the domain centrism.ca -> "I want to change the world" type of thing. I am also arguing now with some staff members from a domain website because forwarding is on hold?! Who controls the .ca domains?  This is not Xi's China. Might be just the effects of the alcohol and can not focus on what exactly is the issue with this forwarding thing.

- 1 whisky bottle down, the shakes, etc. I am not in my 20-30's anymore.

- Work is still there, not because I can control things, is all inertia. Read the term online. Eventually all garbage comes out, soon I will be facing the sword there too.

- Financial transactions to unknown places. I called one place to recover my wireless headphones that I was listening to some documentaries -> and the person, who could be my kid, was embarrassed to tell me the truth. She used political correctness language telling me that you were "disoriented".

Does the above sound like a balanced man to you?

@Gregheadis a poster, I have high attention to detail, when I joined this website first, he said something which stuck with me. I remember -> "We don't see the immediate threats which are in front of us".

Well @Gregheadyou have a point. This reminded me of a story when I called someone back in the old country and was ranting about something. The person listened to my rant and then said:

"I am fixing my outdoor fence now, because that is the only thing that I can control".

Anyhow, want to also extend my apologies to some members of the forum, is not my job to be God and judge people.

At the end of the day, we all face the mirror which is the most powerful judge.

Day 0. We'll see how it goes.

just keep going, put one foot in front of the other, on the road to Calvary

I hope you make it; my partner gave up a 30 year addiction that had some pretty bad outcomes for him.  I know it's not an easy thing to do.

Also, I hope you have more support than strangers on a forum.

I've enjoyed most of your posts here.

People like me rarely share this kind of weakness in public. Ego and arrogance, I know.

Also -> I read enough along the years to understand that part of the sickness is the inability to ask for so called "support".

and not going anywhere. I just spent 300$ to change the world 😁 --> as per my OP.

We march on, defective, the important thing is -> to march on. Will give it a try to stay away from the poison though.

Appears someone let that domain expire in Sept., it's in godaddy's holding list. If you paid them for the domain name only, you have to point godaddy's DNS to where it's hosted. I used to use them as a registrar only when I ran my own server bank. Should've picked a similar name for like $20 as they hold all the expired domain names hostage. CIRA is the outfit you have to go to for .ca disputes, but probably won't be any help with your issue.
I had a similar experience, when I sold my business the guy didn't change the godaddy info to his name, then he sold again to someone else who also sold out. None of them corrected the info, so when it ran out the company called me as my name was at the root. They wouldn't do jack shit as even though I was the guy that set it up only the guy who changed the password and kept using my username was allowed under "policy". He's dead... so that company's domain name is gone forever. They weren't happy

Alright. Here is me at 8:07 PM focusing. I don't get it. I paid for it. Let the domain be free. Man, let my people go free. WTF is this control? Orwell is correct? All i want to do is a simple forward to the Contrain's Corner.

The above is censorship for the white glasses man that is running such approval and has trust issues.

1 - did you pay godaddy? If so call support and get your customer login info.

2 -  you still need to build the site and have it hosted somewhere. If you just want centrist.ca to go to an existing site with another name, ask them how you redirect it.

Is that where you want it to always go if someone types in centrism.ca?
If so, you only need one file on your website, titled index.php

<?php

   header( 'Location: https://repolitics.com/forums/topic/42387-contrarians-corner-comedy-or-not-with-ideology/' ) ;

?>

You still need to ensure the DNS for centrism.ca points to the IP where the index file is at.

There's a spot under DNS on your main godaddy login you can set forwarding to there directly.

Thank you. I am awaking now and following your advice for this.

Focused and found the answer from a customer service agent:

As I see here the domain is purchased in auctions, I request you to wait for 7 to 12 days for it to get active, once it is active you will not have this issue anymore.

then I will forward it to my thread.

Day 2. The process is terrible. I took the last remaining vacations days to get a grip.

I also plan to eat today as I have not eaten in 1.5 days.

Marching forward with some sugar now to counter the shakes. Coca-Cola diet. Better days ahead. -->

👍 Good people on this board.

End of Day 2. Early sleep.

The shakes almost went away after a great meal.

I had a shawarma with french fries on top.

Picture is from the web, very similar:

-> tomorrow will explore working out and other things like diet.

Day 3:

- Woke up after a decent sleep.

- Shakes are gone but other pains are there.

- Plan to do a light cardio workout.

- Drink lots of water and clean myself up with a trip to the haircut.

- Will follow the advice on my link above as to which foods (+ more in quantity) to have when quitting alcohol.

- Limit internet usage to a lower number of posts / day.

Day 4:

a) Starting the day with a great breakfast and this workout:

***3 minute Leg Workout, 1 set, only the ones that I can do, good beginning.

b) Changed scenery for this weekend and travelled to an acquaintance's home. A tip that was given to me is when one gets stuck in some imaginary lines drawn by one's mind, force yourself to travel out of town.

c) The physical effects are gone, which allows more control over myself to focus and seek some resources for long term.

d) Before the last resort, which is to join a dogmatic group as in my OP (I try not to judge) -> but the idea that one solution works for all turns me off, does not sound realistic.

---> Leaving it open but first I will try official channels:

https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/substance-use/get-help-problematic-substance-use.html#a2

There are services there which allows one to connect with a specialist and talk (anonymous it appears too).

Marching forward -->

And look at that, Friday night, with no glass in my hand.

Not sure how this will turn out, I am not a monk, but regardless will keep writing on this thread the evolution and the impacts on my health even if I go back to it.

I had long abstinence from it before by emerging into work or other activities. Hey, whatever to get me over the compulsion to drink -> as long as not too many negative consequences.

Fairly confident I already found a kind of shrink to talk to every 2 days or so. Like confession, get out what is in the mind and move forward in a positive matter.

Support and accommodation is available at work, anyhow, is the end of the year, projects are somewhat completed due to earlier work.

The real test will be around the Holidays. But now -> I will just focus on this Friday.

National Sleep Foundation guidelines advise that healthy adults need between 7 and 9 hours of sleep per night.

As this routine has been forgotten, will try to aim for it by starting the process today, on my day 5.

---> continuing also with the above: recommended food + moderate exercise.

***3 minute Upper Body Workout, 1 set, only the ones that I can do, which is very few on this one:

Managed to get some sleep, more than 9 hours too.

I will not lie to say this is easy. Plan to sell my idea to work from out of town until the end of the year -> so I can stay away from downtown city venues (my reasoning).

Towards this, after spending several hours to fix a work issue, listen to this thought that went through my mind: "Even if you are out of town, places are available at a distance, go have some and you will be focused to fix the issue".

The Brain is like a computer -> the way I see it. The computer now has a virus and is a constant struggle/war.

Anyhow, this morning I plan to fix that issue, eat, workout, watch some World Cup and listen to stuff like this:

Day 6.

Day 7. Fixed the technical issue above.

-> Will have a conversation about my future work plans today, I will continue to stay out of town.

-> I was looking through my phone, the alcohol + obsession with work brought isolationism, maybe even a disconnect with the real world as all my contacts are professional contacts and a few distant family members which one can't really talk about stuff like this or else the rumour will travel as the speed of light.

-> I write here amongst strangers and will talk to a professional as they say which is also happening this week.

-> If you are young and reading this, a suggestion is to stay way from alcohol, even if it's a small percentage chance of becoming hooked to it, why risk it?

and let me share something else. Not all people that have issue with alcohol start at the corner of the street. Ted Kennedy wiped the floor in political debate with Mitt Romney. The liquid substance, for some people can act as an enhancer, I am one of them. Short term of course, now I am paying the long term penalties.

-> Have to move forward and face the music sober, even practice more kindness around me because I am not Ted Kennedy (he had a whole party behind him to keep going) and the street can happen very easily for someone like me in a few years if I keep it up:  One keeps drinking, one loses the job, one loses his property due to future debts and then one ends up at the corner talking to himself.

The war inside one's can be as terrifying as the war outside. Today is another battle in the war.

Moving forward.
