Contrarian
Do you agree with such intervention? The United States says Canada would be an ideal leader for such a military intervention. Trudeau said Sunday that Canada is working with CARICOM, the Caribbean governments organization, along with “various actors in Haiti from all different political parties” to get a consensus on how the international community can help. “It is not enough for Haiti’s government to ask for it,” he said. “There needs to be a consensus across political parties in Haiti before we can move forward on more significant steps.” He did not rule out eventually establishing a Canadian military mission on the ground in Haiti. “Canada is very open to playing an important role, but we must have a Haitian consensus,” Trudeau said in French. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-haitian-political-parties-must-all-agree-to-canadian-military/ Armed gangs are terrorising residents in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince, a United Nations official has warned, as deadly violence and instability continue to complicate the country’s response to a worsening outbreak of cholera. Army Guy
This is another example of how out of touch Justin and Canadians are with their military and their status. A month ago Justin agrees to boosting Canada's commitment to LATVIA by increasing out troop levels, to perhaps a full Brigade group. Just a few weeks ago the CDS declared the military must STOP all non essential work and programs to concentrate on the recruiting crises. This week Minister of National Defense agrees to extend the training mission in England, that trains Ukrainian soldiers, after it increased the number of trainers there. Minister of National Defense and PM announces plans to strengthen Canada's military role in Pacific. And now this commitment that may or may not happen, And if approved this would be a major commitment, and if Canada intends to lead it will be asked to provide the bulk of the troops. Where are we getting all these troops from, and are they not talking to the CDS, or even looking at his goals apparently not, this is just another example of the Liberal government writing checks that it has no intention of keeping and disregarding any advice the military is giving. And yet another example of give them absolutely nothing, and whatever they do have, given it to the Ukrainian military, and then wringing every ounce of capability out of them. It is time to just call it, put a bullet in DND's head, and see what is next. Give Canadians what they want and let them deal with the consequences.

Haiti is rife with heavily armed paramilitary street gangs backed by multi billion dollar transnational narcotics cartels the military could quickly get itself in over its head in that tropical urban jungle Somalia 2.0
Contrarian
Points to think about. but do the military men above will say anything about the United States just dropping this information in the public, basically with 1 purpose in my opinion -> to put more pressure on the Canadian government to react. I guess not, the first instinct is to criticize one's house. Please, I don't need a lesson from the 1800s. At what point in time do you stop banging your head up against the wall thinking things will change. The US has tried everything to put pressure on Canada to do anything about it's military status, from asking, to applying pressure, to begging, to ordering, Canada has basically gave them the middle finger in return. It is an exercise that has not given them any results. And not just the US, but the entire NATO network has done the same thing. 5 eyes pact has moved on from Canada, do to non-commitments... Who else so you criticize, do we blame others for our current military status, this is a Canadian trait we always look for others to point the finger at. Sorry this time this is all about the government and Canadians, and no change will be coming in the future becasue Canadians don't see it as a fault, they are proud on how cheap they are. myata
A repeatedly (continuously, non-stop?) failed state hot potato, what a better destination to throw it to (like turbines, remember?). Justine will figure it out (yes he can).
