On the whole, I think the rhetoric that comes from the left is worse than the right. And you make a big deal out of Trump being banned from Twitter because of his rhetoric. I have to point out that the brutal Iranian leaders are allowed on Twitter. The Iranian regime has put out some unbelievably violent Tweets for the world to see. Undeniably worse things than anything Trump has ever Tweeted. Just ask the Israelis.

Everything that the Iranians have done on Twitter can also be applied to the Taliban, one of the worst countries on earth. They treat their own people with utter brutality and yet, there they are on Twitter.

You can't honestly say Trump is worse than the Ayatollahs and the Taliban.

I can probably get access to all the same news sources that you do, but I choose different sources which I have more faith in. I do get a great sense of what comes out of the MSM compared to my trusted sources and I draw my own conclusions. Your sources don't exactly have a good record for accuracy, and they greatly embellish negative stories about any and all Republicans.

I can understand why we come to different conclusions about all this. I can't help but think of poor old Whoopi Goldberg responding to Ted Cruz recently when she said she knows nothing about violent Antifa riots. I believe her because she, like most left-wingers, lives in a bubble and is not exposed to any news that contradicts her viewpoint. She is also highly intolerant of other views, also like most left-wingers.

How's this for violent rhetoric?

Iran's supreme leader calls for Israel's destruction in Twitter screed on anti-Israel holiday | Fox News

No worse than the violence employed in the establishment of Israel.

Israel claims that Arabs told the Palestinians to flee during the war, but there were numerous roving bands of Jewish gangs terrorizing Palestinian towns and when the residents fled, their land and houses were STOLEN. They are still living in refugee camps. Some still have titles to their property. That was all part of the Israeli plan to cement a Jewish MAJORITY in the land THEY STOLE.

Thanks for the demonstration of you "lives in a bubble" called Fox News.

IF you believe that is a "trusted sources," that explains a lot. Including your belief THEIR methods are used by leftist sources. AKA, the "MSM." You will almost never see any criticism of Trump on Fox.

Fox lawyers argued IN COURT that no one should believe what Carlson says as a defense against libel.

I agree there were extremists in areas during the conflict but where did you hear this theory?

The theory that I know and it is also in the Documentary "Israel and the Arabs" from PBS is that it was a tactical decision by the Palestinians to broadcast over the radio that the armies of Israel are approaching in a high number, but the broadcast was towards the Arab world with the hope that the Arab armies will come to fight Israel.

So what happened? The radio broadcast backfired, and instead of the Arab armies coming, a massive wave of civilians started fleeing because of this. The intent was to draw the Arab world in the conflict and instead it backfired.

Send the article or where you read this as I am always open to new reasonable theories.

So why would I believe a library of the works of communist, anarchist, and socialist writers? over what I know from what I know and those stories were confirmed later on by official reports including that documentary by an the American Public Television? PBS "Israel and the Arabs".

The Marxists are right and I am the one brainwashed? I had an intuition you were on the fringes, still, there is hope, we all had marxist tendencies at one point and then real life happened.

Twitter suffers "massive drop in revenue," Elon Musk says

Elon Musk said Friday that Twitter has experienced "a massive drop in revenue" due to advertisers leaving the platform.

The big picture: Before Musk's acquisition of Twitter, marketers expressed concerns about how Musk would handle content moderation on the platform because he has said he will embrace a free speech-first approach.

State of play: General Motors, Pfizer and Audi are among the companies that have pulled their ads from Twitter due to content moderation concerns, per the Wall Street Journal and CNBC.

  • General Mills also said it paused advertising on Twitter, with a spokeswoman telling the Star Tribune the company "will continue to monitor this new direction and evaluate our marketing spend."
  • GLAAD, Leaders of Voto Latino, Color of Change, Media Matters and other advocacy groups on Friday called on companies to pause Twitter ads, saying the recent layoffs will put content moderation standards at risk.
  • Last Tuesday, more than 40 civil rights and civil society groups urged Twitter’s top 20 advertisers to suspend ads on the platform, too.

Poor Elon seems to have bit off more than he can chew, having cruelly fired half his professional staff in a way that’s probably illegal in many places and in their place it’s just him ruling by decree on a case-by-case basis. He’s just making it up as he goes as advertisers flee the platform. No wonder he wants people to vote Republican that’s how they think the whole country should be run.  Megalomania is a hell of a thing

Twitter Bans Users With Millions of Followers for Making Fun of Elon Musk, Who Famously Loves Free Speech

Soon after Elon Musk took over Twitter, the site began banning high-profile users with millions of followers who were making fun of the billionaire for his $44 billion forced purchase of the platform—a move that’s caused him to flail chaotically to find ways to make money, like a widely criticized $8 paid-verification scheme.

The Twitter account for h3h3Productions—a YouTube channel and podcast with 2.3 million followers on Twitter—was banned on Monday morning after changing its display name to "Elon Musk" and switching to an outdated Musk avatar. It also changed its bio to clearly say it was a parody account and even changed its banner to an image that says "parody account."

"Even though Jeffery Epstein committed horrible crimes, I do still miss him on nights like this for his warmth and comradery. Rest In Peace old friend," the h3h3Productions account tweeted while parodying Musk, gaining nearly 2,000 retweets and over 12,000 likes. It was banned afterwards.

Musk has framed his takeover of Twitter, which he attempted to wriggle out of but was forced to follow through on by the threat of legal action, as being part of a defense of free speech. Although Musk has claimed nothing has changed with regards to content moderation, it seems that by definition, it has. Musk reportedly axed Twitter's content curation team amid widespread layoffs that affected half of the company and drastically reduced the number of people who have access to moderation tools while giving personal input on the rules.

"Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying 'parody' will be permanently suspended," Musk tweetedon Sunday. "Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning," he added in a follow-up tweet. Specifying it was a parody account in its bio and header image was apparently not enough to save h3h3Productions' account from a ban, however.

Other high-profile Twitter users were banned for parodying Musk over the weekend as well. Cartoonist Jeph Jacques (82,600 followers) changed his display name to "Elon Musk" and his avatar to an outdated photo of Musk from when he still had a receding hairline and began tweeting things like, "Grimes NEVER said I had a 'weird dick' and 'smelled like nachos' and if you repost this you will be arrested," which was retweeted nearly 20,000 times. Jacques' account was banned.

Comedian Kathy Griffin (2 million followers) also changed her display name to "Elon Musk" and was bannedafter encouraging her followers to vote Democrat—Musk has said that he voted Republican recently.

Some accounts were banned over the weekend for alleged impersonation that had an apparent connection to Musk. As spotted by NBC reporter Ben Collins,right-wing media personality Andy Ngo directly brought another reporter’s account to Elon's attention for impersonating him, and that account was banned. Another account impersonating Keanu Reeves in order to poke fun at Musk and his Twitter policies was also banned.

Impersonation and parody for the purposes of satire and comedy is nothing new on Twitter and neither is users facing the consequences. What is new, however, is that they are facing instant, permanent bans and that Twitter coincidentally seems to have a focus on people making fun of the new boss specifically.

Maybe destroying Twitter is the good thing we need.

Everyone can start migrating to forums such as these.

On twitter there is no thinking in my view.

Sometimes I see when a new article comes out, it has been barely 30 seconds and there are several comments already.

There is no thinking process, is instinct, like animals, animalistic instinct.

That’s social media for you. I doubt people will migrate to a 30 year old medium like an Internet forum.

The instinctive no-thought response is exactly what our instant gratification selfie obsessed culture wants. More importantly it’s what advertisers want an that’s where the money is

Yes, but when does a force comes in to put a stop to this?

Let us talk about the example of the missile yesterday in Poland.

How many have the time to analyse the information for a follow up really or to filter a piece of information?

I can tell you I made a call in Europe today, the distant family member was still talking about WW3 and how Russia attacked Poland WHEN it has been several hours when even the Polish came out and said it was an accident. Their news source: Twitter.

This ability to brainwash the mind is scary. Who polices this insanity? @myata how do we stop Twitter? this is becoming anarchy.

I guess Musk wants to shut all the shit down. Seems like a good idea as there are so many fake accounts telling lies.

You people ask for liberation from social media lies, I give you... Elon Musk

Even he got caught retweeting social media lies recently, and in the past has had to pay legal settlements in for damages  he’s caused with reckless and false Tweets.

Amd I don’t think he’s running it into the ground on purpose. He could just cease operations tomorrow if that what he wants. .

He’s running the company impulsively despite not having a solid grasp of how things work. Firing tens of thousands  thousands of employees on a whim then changing his mind and trying to hire some of them back.  Publicly berating his own workforce and announcing that they must sign a pledge to work “long hours at high intensity” or they’ll be fired with only 3 months severance   Who’s going to stick around for that?

Tweeting out a series of random new rules and policy decrees, followed immediately by a series of corrections, additions and reversals due to unintended consequences, none of which seeming to have received any careful thought by anyone including Elon……it shows the company is literally being run by a mad man who overestimates his own ability and is surrounded by yes men

Another episode:

Twitter has told employees that the company's office buildings will be temporarily closed, with immediate effect.

In a message seen by the BBC, workers were told that the offices would reopen on Monday 21 November.

It did not give a reason for the move.

1) Bezos is a typical ruthless anti-worker capitalist so nobody here is admiring much less defending him and I’m not sure why you would even bring him up

2) A mass layoff on its own isn’t uncommon or a sign that acompany is being run erratically and recklessly by a madman who impulsively issues rulings by decree on little more than a passing whim.  I’m sure however cruel or inappropriate Amazons mass layoff may be it was probably thoroughly planned and vetted by multiple layers of management and committees and deemed to be in to shareholders best interests.  Unlike Elons Twitter, Amazon is a publicly traded company accountable to shareholders and a Board of Directors so it’s not governed by a king on a throne who spouts off random thoughts that automatically become the law of the land the minute they’re uttered and causes all sorts of unintended damage that has to be cleaned up afterwards
