Emergency Act commission

From the hearings yesterday, it still seems to me that it is mostly trivial complaints and often exaggerated.

The Hotel Laurier testified that they had a broken sprinkler on premises and that fire trucks could not get to them.

Turned out this was false testimony. A truck WAS sent out and arrived with no issues. A broken sprinkler is a common occurrence and is never treated as an emergency and multiple fire trucks are never sent for such a minor issue.

Jim Watsons testimony was the most telling. The city had no interest in ending the protest peacefully because they thought the people were beneath them. Elitist far left attitude was the only thing getting in the way of any sort of civil end to the protest.

Canada’s border is federal jurisdiction.

So is the US border and the US feds were saying no one crosses who isn't vaccinated. The Canadian feds could have lifted their mandate but unvaccinated truckers were still not going to cross the border.

This is a scary situation to think of it objectively, but it develops slowly and under deafening drumming of scare propaganda-"news" that we don't even notice. Remember the movie, Vendetta? Recall the emergency and the convoy. Seriously it came down to that already, emergency law and violent suppression of protests. The only difference is the grade, of violence. That is a fact, happened. Do we think that the level of violence gives us any protection? That somebody would care that it's too much and stop voluntarily a great project only for the public good only to save you, that requires a little sacrifice? Because there's precious nothing to check and stop them, that much we have just observed. Courts, media blah a thin smoke can't do anything, in reality. We have coasted on a colonial system pretty much mindlessly for two centuries but can be done indefinitely?

These hearings are the very definition of "privilege".

Upper class individuals are repulsed by the working class. Instead of communicating with them, claim moral superiority and violently break up a protest. Have their friends in positions of power clean up the mess by obstructing any sort of justice.

Rinse... repeat..

Privileged aholes is what you see from the likes of Trudeau and Slim Jim Watson

Canada imposed it on truckers in January and the Americans followed suit.

It's somewhat obvious from the hearings and anyone who watched the goings on that somebody had to do something. So the feds finally did.

Other obvious things are that some people here don't know the difference between peaceful protest and an occupation.

And others have this idea the hearings were forced on the gov't because it was some kind of scandal when they're going on because that's how the Emergency Act works. And that's a hell of a lot better than how the old War Measures Act did.

Agreed.

The other day, a lady testified at the hearing (I think she was a community association board member of some sort). She said she "heard" that Canadian Tire sold out of knives and bear spray during the protest so residents were afraid.

Asked if she confirmed this with Canadian Tire - answer "No" .

Asked if she investigated if it was members of the protest who bought the items - answer "No".

Asked if the EMA criteria for invoking it included sales of bear spray - answer "No".

Crime actually went DOWN significantly during the protest, so claims of being "afraid" of the truckers are, as you say, from privileged a-holes.

The mass formation psychosis encouraged by the media was what drove this. Irrational fear of people they disagree with.

indeed, it's all laid out very succinctly in the book by the University of Ghent Professor of Clinical Psychology;

Mattias Desmet

The Psychology of Totalitarianism

Duhhh are we not speaking federal mandates? Or is Trudeau your neighbour and it is just over your fence? LOL

Oh and, the American mandate that prevented border crossing was also federal.

The "testimony" given were answers to questions asked and answered under oath.

I presume you are saying that the persons called before the commission so far all lied under oath?

Hotel Laurier ??? What BS is that? More protester BS??

Sounds like she's saying much of their reasons were irrational fears as opposed to legitimate threats. To be expected when they are brainwashed with how bad and evil those people wanting control over their own bodies are.

Large mobs of people making a lot of noise, brandishing F*** TRUDEAU slogans are not places most people feel safe.  For a day or two, you'd just avoid it.  When it lasts for weeks you can't.

Most of these folks didn't think the protestors were evil.  They thought the protestors were losers - loud, angry and ignorant losers.

The witnesses are only answering questions, under oath. Stating facts with back ups, evidence and proof.

Lol..

Yeah they did. We know some fears were Canadian Tire being out of bear mace and a fake story about the convoy lighting an apartment building on fire.

Just like I think you are a little angry boy pushing irrationality onto the public through forcing a vaccine onto people. Thr logic to that was stupid and was driven by fear.. straight up. You are a beta trying to act alpha

I dont feel safe when I see big crowds of people protesting a variety of things. Doesn't mean they don't have a right to be there..

Yes, you do support fascism, in the exact same way that people in Germany supported it in 1935. They were stupid, what's your excuse?

the Germans weren't stupid

it was their humiliating defeat in the First World War

followed by the total collapse of their economy in the Great Depression

Fascism can grip any society once it is brought to its knees

Erm, well, so far there's not much in the way of backups, evidence or proof.

The hotel lied and exaggerated.

The rest, on questioning, had no proof of anything - No police reports, nothing. Just going by what they "heard".

Like the supposed homeless man that was allegedly beat up. There's no police report, no one even knows his name.

This smacks to me as nothing more than "throw enough mud at a wall, and some of it is bound to stick" and the old propaganda trick of repeating a lie over and over until people think it's true.

Call that hearsay..

So the government violated a person's right to protest based on hearsay.. I guess now the threshold for invoking the Emergencies Act is not fact but rather something bad that someone thought up
