Her point is that the photo in the post seemed to indicate that there was a huge celebration in the conservative party because a lesbian got an appointment, but it was just at her wedding. 

My personal take on that photo is: OMG she's the one wearing white - we got the small spoon. Why couldn't we have gotten the one who wears the plastic in the family?

1) TBH I just went back and looked and she did reference her religious beliefs. I'll give you a score of 100% on that one.

2) One is wearing white - which is traditionally the bridal colour, and the other is wearing black - which is traditionally the groom's colour. Then I just assumed everything other intimate detail of their marriage based on that. It's pretty solid logic to base a dumb joke on. 

3) Ladies in a position of prominence are in short supply since Lizzy died. Look at all of the icons of the late 20th and early 21st centuries... It's a sad state of affairs. The Senator of Rhode Island twerked upside-down in a campaign ad earlier this year and it wasn't even a big deal.
