Poor old Charlie is neither a dignified old-school symbol like Liz nor a sexy photo op factory like Kate, Will and the brood. His Basset Hound brand of tone-deaf, über-toff lugubriousness is not what’s needed these days:

I don't find Kate to be the slightest bit sexy.

Far too skinny.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear she is anorexic.

If the rumours about Will's infidelity are true it appears he no longer finds her sexy either.

I think the Sussexes will still be in love long after the Waleses marriage is over.

Me neither, but I can't help thinking that if you can get her undressed and put her in the proper lingerie on the proper bed and in the proper position, something might come out of it.?

If it took something like 10 minutes to queue to see the coffin it would make sense but 10 hours queueing to spend only few seconds to see the coffin sounds absolutely not a sensible thing to do at all.

Yet there are tens of thousands of people who do just that.

but not a messianic figure like Diana Spencer

they all live in the shadow now

of the most popular royal in history

I know I’m supposed to think really highly of her, but I didn’t like how she played the Good Witch of the East to Wicked Charles.   It wasn’t the whole story, because she basked in the attention and enjoyed huge accolades but also lived a pretty charmed life.  She seemed like a good person who deserved better treatment from her husband, but I don’t think she was Mother Theresa.  It’s a sad story, a tragic death and a terrible loss for her boys.  We’ll never know what really happened in that relationship, but something tells me there was plenty of blame to go around.  She had the spotlight over Charles.  Not sure how much it was taken versus given.

I've come around to her

simply because of the power she wielded

ultimate power

and she chose to do good with it

she never did any evil that I can remember

she took her charmed life, and then went amongst the people, to comfort them

she frankly dwarfed Mother Theresa

the entire world hung on her every word

followed her every move

Diana Spencer created the celebrity culture we live in now

it's hard to think of a person with comparable influence, in human history

since nobody in human history has ever had the whole world watching them like that

my joke about Diana is simply the musical tones from Close Encounters

Ha true.  Even her death was a spectacle, though, like Kennedy’s. Seems to be how it goes.  “Only the good die young.”

I’m using the word in a fairly generic, asexual way. Those yarns about infidelity are difficult to assess at the moment. It was said Will and Kate used to plant saucy stories to find leakers but who knows?

Kate is no Princess Margaret, that's all I'm saying.

Over 750,000 at the last count.

It's more to do with participation than adoration though.

''I just felt I had to be here at this moment in history''

With the BBC streaming it live nonstop since the lying in state began it's the ultimate ''selfie''.

Your own high res' clip of you bowing to the box to keep for all posterity.

Even in death Her Majesty is fulfilling her duty as a tourist magnet.

God bless her.

London is going to be sold out for the Coronation within hours of its date being announced.

There's probably money to be made gambling on the date and booking rooms now.

Book a whole week and sell it off to some rich American two weeks before the day at 10 x the cost.

no

the supposedly "Loyalist" Province of Ontario did not grant a day off

Ontario said this was just like any other day, and the economy comes first

so I was at work on the loading docks all day,  shipping product to the USA

so I suppose I'll just have to say

God bless America

But I hear in Trudeau fashion, he embarrassed us again.

The incident even caught the attention of Americans. Meghan McCain, the daughter of recently deceased former Republican presidential nominee John McCain, tweeted “Have some respect for the occasion and why you are in London for the first place. Trudeau is such a clown show.”

frankly, it seems like the Queen's funeral was only for the Liberal elites

Justin Trudeau prancing about like a fop with the Hollywood actress Sandra Oh

we commoners simply weren't invited

it feels like the death of the House of Windsor itself

founded by George V, the People's King

even listening to the radio at work

all they said about it was :

"all the government bureaucrats get a paid day off, but not the rest of us"

that really symbolizes the class system being reimposed in Canada

And yet an estimated 4 billion people watched it, the largest TV audience in history. A billion and a half more than Chuck and Di's weeding. They could have charged more for adds than the Super Bowl.
